If a user who has been subjected to some form of restriction on the forums and can't figure out the what and the why as to what has happened then that is their problem, not Stardocks.

Interesting thread. A point the Op may wish to know and pass on is that the Demigod forums are linked to around 12 other forums that are all under the Stardock banner. I'm posting from galciv2.com for an example. So what may be acceptable or unacceptable on one forum structure may well not be the case in another part of the network. Without knowing your friends post that caused his demotion i could no offer much of an example, he may have posted in the OT section on Demigod.com thinking his post was suited as such, but it would then be available to 12 different site, all with their own idea of what is accepted, as set by Brad and the mods. Nevertheless, he...you..i are not entitled to, by any rights or laws anything on the forums.

Posting is a privilege and the manner that we conduct ourselves is held to the standard of the private owner of the forums. If he doesn't like what we have to say....off we go.

If we don't like that, then we can choose not to post.

I'm going to raise the bullshit flag on this one.  This entire comment is an example of what's wrong with the U.S. today folks.  The "Why should I care, it's not my fault." attitude is what is ingrained in the youth of today.  "I don't have anything to be grateful for...waaaaaaaaaah!"  "I can't sit on my ass all day and do nothing....waaaaaaaaaah!"  The future you promise your children is only limited by how hard you work to make it.  The children of today want to do nothing but want everything in return and most parents are doing nothing about it.

The use of the terms Sir or Ma'am are only interpreted as insults by one type of person...the ignorant type.  I find that line to be a bunch of bullshit Ma'am.  Why isn't it "safe" to use them?

Precisely.  There is no excuse, at all, for not spending time with your children.  None.  Period.  If more parents spent more time with their kids, this country would see a great turn-around in the attitude of our youth.  No valid excuse can be made for not spending time with your greatest creation.  Everything else you have or have done pales in comparison to the young child that you created.  And as creator, you have a responsiblity to instill in that young mind values, morals, respect, compasion etc...you have an obligation to make that young child a good human being, a good person.  You can't do that by not spending time with them.  It isn't possible.  So my comment from earlier stands (simplified for you lazy fucks). 

Raise your children.  Families are the anchor of a free society – work hard on yours.

Posting on these (and most other) forums is like visiting someone elses house.  You don't shit on the carpet and expect everything to be peachy.  You also don't whine when the owner boots you for such behaviour.

If you boot someone out of a pub for example (also a private place), there tend to be less conflict if you tell the person why. It's common sense. How is that so hard to understand?

The question is, why are you assuming this person hasn't been told? Because of second hand information given to you by someone you don't know who probably does not have all the facts themself?

Well then, it wasn't very classy to do something to be be restricted either.

The only thing I've said is that the moderators should tell people when they do changes to a user profile. If they ban someone, I think it's only fair to let them know if it's a time limited ban or a permanent one. Since there has been nothing said against the statement that no information was sent, I accept it as true.

But really, it doesn't matter at all. I think users should be informed, period. If they did or did not do it is really irrelevant. If they did, great, things are as they should. If they didn't (which seem to me as being how things are done around here. This isn't the first time I've read a comment on the issue), it should be changed. A copy & paste PM telling what has been done at least. "You didn't follow the forum rules so your account has been suspended/restricted for the duration of 14 days/permanently" for example.

And I'm well aware that Stardock could decide to just kill off the entire forum if they like, or randomly ban people. I'm not trying to tell them what they can or can't do, just what I believe they *should* do.
