Ideas for a Community Theme Project - Holiday Edition

I have been wanting to help organize a new community theme project for quite a while.  With the holidays rapidly approaching, and the fact that Christmas is one of the most popular skinning holidays, I would like to propose a community project around that.

What do you say?

My idea, subject to further input from the community.

Christmas/Winter Holiday Theme Pack

This would include at the minimum:

  • WindowBlinds theme
  • DesktopX Theme
  • DesktopX Gadgets
  • CursorFX theme
  • Dreams
  • RightClick Skins
  • Icons (IP or just some dock icons)
  • Wallpapers

At the end this would all be wrapped up in a Theme Manager suite.

My thought is a minimal-type theme that will appeal to a broad range of people, yet have a big influence of holiday colors or design. 

What we need?

I need a Project Manager who will help coordinate skinners and their activities.

We also need ideas for a unique name plus design ideas.

September 28th Update:

Here is the current list of people who have signed up to participate.  Aside from the WindowBlinds theme as we want to keep it consistent, several people can create themes of the same type as long as they stay within the theme.

The "Hannukah Gelt" (Hannukah money...used to gamble on dreidel spins is chocolate wrapped in gold foil simulating coins)...

Chocolate is the true universal. It should replace all current forms of currency. If my suggestion for doing so isn't implemented I'd say, "I blame skinhit!". I concur fully with Po' on this matter. It brings a curious sense of contentment and peace.

Damn skippy!  It's the chemical equivalent of love (the dark stuff is my love substitute).  And that waxy "chocolate flavored" crap should be banned.

I don't know. Forgetting/losing money or credit cards is annoying enough, I think it'd tick me off even more to not get to the store fast enough on a hot day and not be able to buy anything cuz my "money" melted in my pocket :grin:

That's why you eat it quick!

Or go to the bank (or Ft. Knox in Hershey, Pa.) and get chocolate credits!

You can always get M&M's....come in various colors denominations too!

Is there a certain target date when we all should have our skins done, or do we just upload them independently as we finish?

(I should have the docks and an RC done this week.)

Yeah, I was wondering about a release date myself. Also, I think each part's name should  include the suite name to make for easier searching.

Would no later than Thanksgiving be too early for release of the individual skins?

I don't know if you're including my Hanukkah WB with the project, I have it completed, I want to check it out on my computer when I install the Windows 7 upgrade, either tomorrow or the next day.  I'll be 100% ready to upload it by next week at the latest.

CURSORS ARE DONE!  For those who are working on this project and want the cursor, gimme a hoot, or Xiandi a holler.

To those who won't get them until its published, lemme just tease you...

Its a 4 cursor package.  Each cursor is pointed in a different direction. *_*

And...there may or may not be sparkling involved O:)

Once all the skins are uploaded I would need about 4 hours to grab the skins, create a desktop, make sure everything works and then make the Theme Manager Suite.  I always include links to all the skins in the theme in the description part of the Suite download page, so everyones name who participated will be identified with thier skin.  If you were/are a tester of the skins for this community project please let me know who you are so I can include your names.

If anyone thinks of some appropriate words of Holiday sentiment that could/should be added in the description text please send them my way.  Keep in mind that the description area is somewhat limited in the amount of text.  Depending on the amount of text I would use the comment section on the download page. 

Once the Suite is uploaded we should all consider adding a personal Holiday Greetiing in the comment section.  I don't think the members of the community would mind.
