What is the design rationale behind drops?

I wonder about the design decision to make deaths spawn potions. I don't understand why it's there, and I can't find a single reason for it to be that way. Can anyone explain to me why the are there (excpet to work with a side-effect of one of EB's skills).

thanks

To clarify before this escalates. It was about the context. Stacked told you he didn't think you played enough games, 3. You said you played more, just not pantheon. It sounded like you only played 3 pantheon, but 300 custom games or so. I pointed out that you played 7. Not to invalidate your opinion, not to bash, but if stacked didn't think 3 was enough, 7 wouldn't either.

I don't say I'm on stacked side here, but he has a point. One way for you to please stacked would be to claim that you played several hundred offline games over Lan or something against good players. AI is no measure of anything. I have gotten 43 kills in a game on nightmare campaign with Rook. That's how wierd AI is.

But still I'm not a good player.

right and what im saying is when you play offline which is generally where i play most strategy games in this particular game though every kill does yield a drop so wether or not i kill a player or an AI they will have a drop is my main point. also im not argueing with yours or stacked logic on my lack of online games matter because thats completely true. And ive played AI that have played better than people which is extremely sad since the nightmare AI's are piss easy.

and what im saying is (and im not insinuatig you at all said this) is that it doesnt matter skill level of the player everybody's death means a potion/scroll drop so argueably anyone thats played one game of demigod has a say on this unless they somehow made it through the whole game without a single kill or death from anyone on the map

Without these drops the WINNER would be penalized as the LOSER would come back at full mana and health from the crystal and be able to kill them with ease..

These drops do NOT overly dimish the advantage of coming from the crystal, as only one Mana or Health is dropped.

Without these drops no one would ever play an assasin as generals and the priest idols would clearly be the better choice 100% of the time... they are only the better choice 50% of the time now...
