Fun game, but ruined by the community IMO

Fun game, but ruined by the community IMO

Just got done playing a 5v5 on Zikurat.  The game was going great, until a player (posermcgee if you're curious) just started commando charging into their base, dying (often with the help of an enemy demigod) and racking up kills + gold for their side.  After doing this about 4 times, he just stopped playing -- went AFK completely.  At least when he was AFK he wasn't suiciding!  This idiocy and griefing obviously cost us the game, as the other team had tons of money to buy equipment with.  From the nature of his comments, it was obvious that he was not just "some n00b" trying to learn -- he was actively sabotaging our game.

Not to mention all the disconnects, rage quitters, etc. that just end the game early.

Love this game, but it's ruined by the community IMO.

Sup dudes, first post here \o/ I checked out the demo and decided to order the game which should be here sometime next week.

What I found interesting from my experiences in the demo was that people were either friendly or quiet, except for retail players. I don't know if they need to specifically download the demo version to play with me or if the full game is compatible, but the only griefers or smack talkers I've come across have also been bragging about how long they've played and all that good stuff. I've only run into this a couple of times though.

It's a bit concerning, but at least it's more bearable in team games where the interaction with your teammates is more of a focus than communicating with your opponents.

It's the same with almost all communities on the internet, most people are nice, some are extremely helpful and a few are right little shits who will tarnish all the others. You'll usually remember the idiots over the others.

Don't let the odd player put you off however as most people are good to play with. If you're able to play the game without issue and like the basic style it's a great game (just pray you don't run into connection issues).

I played a 2v2 with Vexerz the other day against excellent opponents.  His typed communication was constant, very shrewd, always polite, and a big contributing factor to the win.

Our opponents, no kidding, were brothers who have been playing since last September and were either on Skype or in the same room, and I doubt their comm was much better than ours.

I can't speak to the flammable comments he's made upthread (single mothers?), but I can say that ingame I'll always be happy to play with this guy on my team.

His point - that the problem has less to do with the community and more to do with the inherent lack of player filtering mechanics in the game itself - is valid, and has been addressed in forum posts by Stardock.  No controversy.

For whatever reason, players with 10% W/L continue to join "PROZ ONLY" games.  Then they feel crushed because their teammates hate them.  Why do they do this?  Why does it matter?

Arguing over how people react on both sides of this coin or a philosophical debate on the nature of humanity and an anonymous internet does nothing to speak to the real issues - namely the makers of this game have actively if inadvertently enabled the dynamic in the first place.

You want a happy, polite community?  Make a game that has

1.  working, accessible stats
2.  team automatching and other competitive game modes
3.  working ladders

Once we have these let's re-examine the broken players, why don't we?

thats because the game runs in slowmotion :) so there is no difference between typing and voice chat.

its no fun to play this game without mates, cause i am sick of getting retarded shit noobs in pantheon, who arent even able to write nor to do what i tell them. its no fun at all, if you get a player in your team, who is even worse then the fcking retarded AI!!

if you automatch in pantheon, give me a teammate at my level and opponents at my level. would that be that to much to ask for?!

i can play as godlike as possible. if my teammate is going to feed the others nonstop, i cant do a thing too...

Since getting this game last weekend I think the amount of games I've played where someone has ragequit has to be around 80%+.  I know I'm a noob--I just got the game.  I join games whenever I can that say "noobs welcome" or as soon as I join a lobby I make sure to tell everyone I'm noob and ask if they mind.  I have enough sense to try to avoid getting killed and think that I do decently for how long I've had the game.  On top of that, I was just in a game with a teammate who insisted on shit talking the whole time (even though he died just about as often as I did) and overall made the game pretty unpleasent (his name was "Raining" if anyone cares).

WTH is wrong with the community of this game?  It has to be, by far, the worst, most intolerant and selfish online gaming community I've had the misfortune to deal with.

Well i dont know what more can be said on the matter.

Rage quitting sucks, had a god match with a premade earlier and it got ruined because a guy quit after 2 mins. He didnt die just quit. I dont know why he left, ruined the game for me, but i wont go so far as to say he was selfish or intolerable person. Maybe he had something to do, maybe the game just put him in a piss poor mood and he felt like he had to get off before he broke his hand on his desk, or heaven forbid send a flying knee through his monitor...

I've played with Raining before, cant remember if it was on or against him but he seemed like a decent player and trust me, if someone on your team dies 2 or three times early on it leads to alot more deaths/death situations for the more experienced players on your team. Its a shame he would handle the situation in the manner he did. I've had a rook die 18 times one match, he apologized again and again and you know what at the point i know im boned so i told him we all have off days and for some reason it made him feel better, i'm sorry you didnt have the same reinforcement.

Welp........... i guess just try to avoid players you know are jackasses and try to play as much with good folks. I've played with a variety of folks and i have a good idea who i will avoid and vice versa.

Anyways welcome to the community.
