Bans , Banning, You Are Banned, We Need A Banlist

Bans , Banning, You Are Banned, We Need A Banlist

As the DotA community found out, in order to fully enjoy this style of game, you must keep certain people from your games.  In style of DotA, Demigod also needs a Banlist.  One intergrated into the game.

So as I sit and wait minutes upon minutes for a game to start, we're down to waiting for the last player to join. A player, disliked by the host, joins the game and the host kicks him... player rejoins... host kicks him... player rejoins... host kicks him... player rejoins... my game crashes!  Probably from the lobby being all screwed up.  So seriously, at this point, I'd even settle for a 'Ban Player From Lobby' option just to keep certain players from rejoining a game after they have been kicked.

I do not know in how many Demigod game lobbies I have been in where a player is kicked and rejoins after every kick.  This is annoying and it just wasted my time as a game that was about to start crashed as I already mentioned.  There are so many hosts out there with no clue how to open up an additional slot, unless you are playing a 5v5.

Anyways, Stardock, please do not cater to the morons out there.  We need some sort of player banning system so hosts do not have to deal with the immature, idiotic, and moronic... not to mention, the jerks.  Not only this, but some people will get into a game and produce massive amounts of lag, sometimes making the game unplayable.  Perhaps it is not fair for them when they start getting banned... but this is a game I want to enjoy, and if they do not have common enough sense to take their PC to a shop for a cleanup (maintenance), if they do not have the knowledge to do so themselves, than why should they be allowed to sit and ruin a game for multiple players?

Bans, are stupid

Banning, is dumb

You Are Banned, because Bans are stupid and Banning is dumb

We Need A Banlist, to put you in it.

Amen.

That was rather poetic, in an odd sort of way. k1

to all the "no we don't need banlists" people - what are you afraid of?  Are you guys RQ'ers?  Even if someone bans you for being a noob, his banlist would be specific to HIM which is just as well coz you would not want to play with that idiot again anyway.

So whats wrong with giving legitimate people the option to make sure they have a banlist that ensures they do not play a game with game spoilers?

Becuase it will, in all likelihood, not be used with the "best of intentions".... that I am constantly assured it will be used for. It promotes division in the community, faux-griefing, and brings the community apart instead of together.

Dividing the community into the two groups of "People that are going to ruin your game by leaving very early" and "People who aren't" is fine by me.

DGBanlist.com

By the way, I banned you for being an immature moron. Don't worry, you won't be the first person to be banned just because someone is a huge dick. See what I mean? Banlist is completely stupid. Someone can be perfectly competent, and maybe his mom just died, or his girlfriend/boyfriend came, or his electric company craps out, and yet still be banned. And your computer crashed while in the lobby? Well according to you, you are a "moron" who doesn't have enough common sense to take your PC to the shop for cleanup or do it yourself. Is that fair?

And, yes I really did ban you along with the creator in DGBanlist.com, but don't worry that site is a joke.[/quote]

Great then there is other shit they should worry about rather then making it to a banlist go fuckign hang yourself.

what this game needs is a surrender option

and a block list not a ban list a block list  as in each player  can block people  who are on there list from entering a game that u are in

for example  stacked  me and spooky  could be in a game waiting for the last dude and sarebroman trys to join  and he is on  stackeds ban list and will get kicked out automaticaly unless u disable  the option that says kick automaticaly

Agreed it also saves me the time remebering who the bitches that fuel my rage are. I won;t even need a banlist that i update I get reminded. Its a win win.

Err, DotA doesn't do well at all, regardless of a banlist. Community = terrible, getting into a game with people of the proper skill level = terrible. The damn thing is literally unplayable if you aren't in a clan. As we can see from DotA, a banlist will do nothing against the ever-streaming tide of laggers, leavers, and afkers who knock at your door. I'll wave to you next time I see you on the beach with a teacup, trying to drain the ocean.

Sounds like Demigod's community to me.

People - it's the SAME community.  It's not better than Dota - it's the same.  Don't pretend.

infin  hmm not entirely the same  i was never a dota dog

Hahahaha, no.

So what, I'm sure there's plenty of people who play Dota but not Demigod.

They're still the same kind of people.

nah they arn't  no 2 people are exactly the same  not even twins

Err, lost. But the point is, whether or not it's the same community, the fact remains it doesn't work. Favor points are extremely easy to get, and the stats system is rather broken at the moment, so there's not much reason to stick around for your 10/4 record or whatnot. Furthermore, the people who tend to rage/leave/etc probably don't have a terribly high (or even positive) win/loss ratio.

No BAN LIST!

It's hard enough joining a game as it is, living in Australia even with ADSL2+. My Ping is just too high for all-and-sundry (anything over 400 it appears) and as soon as I coonect to a game, I'm kicked for having too high a ping (which I can't tell, as my ping isn't  made visible). I just know because I get kicked (the one MP match I did get allowed on I never rage-quitted nor abused any player, so that's not the issue). If you guys are going to get a ban list going, then obviously anyone outside the USA or Europe is going to be added for having too high a Ping. Never have had tthis problem with any other MP gaming before, and I play heaps.

With or without a ban list the US players are unlikely to let you into their games, they're still going to kick you manually. Try US West games if you absolutely must play with internationals, otherwise stick with playing AU games during the evening.

This is a very naive statement.  I for one do NOT want to be part of the majority of the demi community because I know that a huge bunch of them are or will be asshats, just like in dota and many other online games for that matter.  This is why a banlist is good so I can choose whom I do not want to play with.

For now, people in demi are deceptively polite compared to dota because this game has not become mainstream yet, players are hard to find so we have to "work along" to get a game going.  When this game becomes mainstream and the community grows in number it will decline in quality.  The community will become less polite, cordial and be filled with asshats - this is why banlist must be implemented so I can exclude all the tards that have spoiled my previous games.  What the hell do you care, unless you are an RQ'er?

If you claim that it divedes the community then at least it does so in the right way - it splits the tards from the proper gamers.

The fact that you call anyone who disagrees with you an 'RQ'er' speaks volumnes about the strength of your argument, imo.

Look at your ping to the host.  It's the same ping he's seeing to you.

I think a player having a personal banlist is ok, just like the /ignore command available in most MMOs. The only thing it would do is disallow the banned player from joining any games hosted by the banner. However, if both players are joining games hosted by others, then all is fair play.

There should never, ever be a public banlist. It's unfair to new players, for starters, and is bad for the community as a whole on so many levels.
