Crashing, freezing, artifacts, multiplayer etc. (XP x64 suspected)

The main menu and some other screens(not the game itself, though) some times will suffer from artifacts and other minor graphics glitches. This is the only game I have that experiences this sort of behaviour, and I'm reasonably sure it's not my GPU.

Secondly, the game will freeze up in various loading screens randomly. I'd play one battle great, start loading the next one and there it would freeze. Program becomes unresponsive, has to be closed with the task manager.

Thirdly, in the middle of the game it sometimes crashes to desktop with an error message I forgot to copy. I would say this is more rare than the previously mentioned freeze, but as it arrives after the place where it can freeze, that would be a false statistic.

Finally, I'm yet to join a multiplayer game. Tried dozens of times, and it either hangs or finds nothing for over an hour of waiting, or several times of cancelling after nothing comes up or joins in 10 minutes, as the game has no unresponsive autokick.

I have the latest version of the game, motherboard drivers, GPU drivers and have tried with Impulse both on and off. No other games I have experience this sort of behavious, and I have a lot of games. I'm 96% sure it's not my box that's at fault.

In case you want to know, it's a Q6600, with a 512 MB GeForce 8800GTS, 4 gigs of RAM and it's all running on Windows XP x64 Professional.

HALP!

I'm also running a Q6600 with 4 GB RAM and XP x64 but I'm using a ATI Radeon 4890... I get artifacts on the menu screens occassionaly (the video card just cant handle the power of those menus!!) and I seem to crash sometimes when I level up but I never see anything in the crash log.. the last thing I usually see is the game setting the variable for some audio level up thing (wheee!)

I am having freezing problems also.

This usually happens during a loading or transition screen. The mouse pointer moves,

but the game stalls and I can not alt-tab or ctrl-alt-del away.

Grrrr.

I have similar system specs with windows xp professional 64 bit, and I am experiencing the random freezing as well. /Bump.

Alright, now we're getting somewhere. Xp x64 it might be... If only Morth left some info...

Chalk up one more xp64'er having crashes.  It's the only technical problem I've seen so far, though ive just done a few skirmishes to feel the game out, havent tried multiplayer yet.

I'm running a core i7, 4gb ram, gtx280.

I have almost the same system.

q6600, 8800 GT, WINXP 64bit, 4gb ram.

and i can report similar issues. seems like a x64 problem.

has anyone tried running it in windows xp compatability mode? im going to try that see if performance improves

Playing with compatibility mode had no effect, still crashed.

No crashes yet (wow). I dont think its x64 (maybe winxp64?)

I assume you've done the whole update bios, update motherboard drivers, update sound/vid card drivers, antispyware, antivirus thing?

I has, I have to keep my PC tip-top.

Bump. Some kind of official responce or recognition would be nice. We clearly have an issue here.

same problem here, x64 bit :p same PC specs. I can trouble shoot just about any damn thing, and this here has left me grounded. Crash is random at best. Sometimes I finish an entire game. I have no problems with multiplayer, I just crash at random points all the time.

Really wouldnt mind some fking feedback from the hamsters in tech depo... a fair few hundred people have this issue. Warcry forum is screaming about it, as is VN and a few others.

Bump. I'm still experiencing this problem, and I simply can't finish a single game because of it. I'm a 64bitxp user as well with similar specs.

WinXP64 user on a Q9300, ATI 4870, 4GB of RAM, ASUS P5Q PRO mobo

I get random hangs just before loading screens when connecting to Pantheon games--essentially, just when it is about to transfer over to the loading screen, Demigod stops dead.  Network activity dies, it stops using processing power, etc.  Unresponsive.  I run it windowed and if I move other windows over it and then close them, the screen doesn't repaint Demigod.  Happens about 1/3 of the time that I start a Pantheon game; I probably have a shit ton of dropped games on my account thanks to that =/

I didn't realize so many people actually used XP 64. It was never meant for home use.

I am not 100% certain Windows XP 64 bit edition is supported by the game.

I will check.

It was popular among high end users before vista came out. It's not that uncommon an OS and it'd be unheard of if gpg decided not to support it.

Aye; there are quite a few gamers who (rightly) avoided Vista in its initial launch period thanks to significant performance loss in games. . . but who wanted access to 64-bit processors and 3.5+ GB of RAM.  I'm such a person; I'm holding off until Win7, which in Beta roughly matches my FPS in XP64.  Of course, the full release will be more bloated, which will slow things down to an extent, so I may keep an XP64 partition for the absolute newest games until DirectX10 becomes the standard.

edit: grammar

Not to burst anyone's bubble but....

Here are my system specs:

Intel E8500

4GB RAM

Asus P5Q

Asus EAH4870 1GB DK version

Windows XP Pro x64-bit edition

I've been running Windows XP x64 as my gaming-OS for several years now, and found it to have been the most stable OS that I've ever gamed on.

I can say, I have had not one single crash with Demigod/XP x64.....

I do however use the above-noted system ONLY for gaming.  I never even browse the internet from my gaming-rig(s).  No other third-party software other than TeamSpeak is ever installed on any of my gaming rigs.  The OS is always patched with every single windows patch, regardless of if I think I need it or not.

I wish I could give you more information.  Unfortunately all I can say is that I've been running Windows XP x64 as my gaming OS for years, and have never really had an issue.....certainly never with Demigod.
