Any chance for new chars in future?

There are two characters planned to be released for free. They are currently waiting to see how the balance of the current demigods play out before finalizing them.

Id also imagine the success of the game will dictate how many maps, characters etc we will see as well. So get your friends to buy it.

This game could be awesome, but its not a game that is free unlike DOTA where the devs of that are constantly upgrading and such. This is a company I can see after a little bit walking away to work on a new project leaving us with few maps and few heroes...

DOTA is awesome because you have like what... 18 characters per side? Maybe more maybe less... so much flavour in each.


This game ATM has 4 per side... so eventually I can see many people getting bored since they will use the best build for each one and well 4 characters with approx 2-3 builds each.... gonna get old....



Anyways Im crossing my fingers cause the game is fun , just would be awesome if they could keep upgrading it or hire the DOTA team to build for this game lol.

With the day 0 patch you can actually find Occulus files in the LUA files

Strengths:

Reduces vision of enemies

Takes reduced damage from Towers of Light

Sends weaker units to their death

Can summon eyes to scout for him

 

Weaknesses:

Reduced vision

Low Hit Points

 

While Oculus sight is initially weak, it will become more powerful than any other Demigod's. He throws his enemies into the same blindness he experiences, then uses wisps of light to trick them into falling to their deaths. Towers of Light are less effective against Oculus because his Prism ability redistributes some of the damage he takes to anyone near him. Oculus\' initially weak sight range and low health make him an excellent target for ranged assassins.

 

The blind king, Oculus is an ancient and wise Demigod. His blindness is deceptive, as Oculus manipulates the sight of all those around him. He sits on a floating throne, leading his army into victory.

 

 

Some skills are:

- 60% reduced cost to buy units at max rank

-Each 3 kills his visual range is increased by 3, when the visual range reach Occulus maximum he spawns an "Eye" and his visual range is reset.

-He got an aura that reduces the visual range of any enemies within 20 yards by 80% at max rank

-He got an ability which summons Will-o'-wisps near voids that lures enemy reinforcements to walk over the edge and die.

 

From what I can tell Occulus will be one unique demigod experience, no other demigod uses visual range modifications like him.

Dota has more than 18 heroes per side.  closer to 50 or 60 per side.  I definitely agree that Demigod should have added heroes and continuous balance patching in order to be awesome.  If it stagnates then it will definitely go downhill.

Will be even greater when the game becomes mod-able.  Hopefully there will be ways to download maps and demigods on a peer to peer basis if you allow user mods in search settings.

actually 93 of 93 heroes are useful in DotA, you just have to know how to play them...

 

that is not true....in compativ gameing they only use....let me count... about 40 heros

Is DotA free? I thought you had to have WC3 installed in order to use the mod, in which case you would have to drop $40 into that (I dont understand why WC3 is still full price after nearly a decade of being on the store shelves, but thats a discussion for another time).

Anyway, I wouldn't mind having a few more choices and varieties.  I haven't found a character that fits my play style completely (though I havent played all of them yet).

Quality is great, but without any quantity you fail... and quantity is great, but without any quality you fail....


A brewery that makes 500 different beers has quantity, but they may all suck...

A brewery that has 1 great beer, is good, but it doesn't capture everyones tastes.


A good mix of the two.... and 4/4 "quality" heroes isn't cut it for me IMO, since IMO I think Queen is pretty weak is the smaller games (just my obersation), haven't played enough on other side to know yet of theirs.

They must release 4 free additional Demigods to brings the total up to 12. Also, battles should also not be "Dark vs. Light". With 12 Demigods and no side restrictions the possible combos rise exponentially, giving rise to deeper gameplay.

Warcraft 3 doesn't cost 40$ lol. At least I don't know where you're looking.

 

I can buy wc3 today for 20$ (both RoC and TFT 10$ each).

 

And yes, I prefer Quality over quantity. That's how demigod can be BETTER than dota.

Then I'd get to buying those and selling them on eBay. MSRP for RoC is 20 and TFT is 20 equaling 40.

First thing I came accross when looking up prices, though I could probably find some cheaper ones if I really looked.

Anyways, I think 8 Demigods is more than enough, especially with all the different playstyles and builds. However, even if the game totally fails we have been promised two new Demigods within the next year, and if the game prevails then I'm sure they'll go above and beyond adding just two Demigods, and likely even add some more maps. I just hope the new Demigods arent awesomely cool, and result in 70% of all players devoting all their time to playing the new Demigod for a month.

world of warcraft proved to me that people will contentedly sit there and do the same thing over and over night after night and most people on there would have less than 8 characters to do them with. I like it that they're starting small and balanced then adding more characters later - rather than nerfing/buffing characters that are already there and causing an uproar from people who play them. (And there would be an uproar, nerds get very touchy about losing 10 dps or whatnot). They'll add more stuff and the game will go on.

Stop buying boxes Buy cd keys (there are plenty of good sites that sell unused cd keys for games for lower price). They are cheaper and you get them faster. They equal to a boxed version. Man, learn to use the internet guys...

And I want 12 demigods and 15 maps ^^ That would be enough for me.

I have TONNS of ideas (for improving the already existing content), but I don't think Stardock will listen to me or anyone other, at least for a couple of weeks.

 

Edit: To the poster above, WoW is an MMORPG and you actualy play with many other players at the same time, which can be pretty interesting.

 

As for the 10$ warcraft 3, I went to google, entered "Buy warcraft 3 CD key" and went to the second site in the list...

Well you never mentioned that it was a non box version so that hardly counts but I get your point. It'll take time, be patient.

As for warcraft 3, I understand that it's a non box version, but after I buy it, install wc3 with that CD key, and you buy a boxed version and install it, will you or anyone else be able to see the difference in our games? ^^ I mean find 1 bite where our wc3's will differ
