Demigod is Great.

Demigod is Great.

good job Gas Powered Games and Stardock. its a really good game and i highly recommend it for anyone who enjoyed Defense of the Ancients (Warcraft 3 custom map/mod).

its fun, fast paced, and competitive. easy to learn but hard to master. the multiplayer netcode is slightly awkward at the moment but presumably that will be patched up relatively shortly.

Strangely, your account says you don't have Demigod. So how would you know?

And why would someone who hates Demigod hang around the forum?

I play sins and this is a sins forum.  I was awaiting the release of Demigod with high hope.  My brother has the game in same house hold.  I've seen all 8 arenas with in two days.  I am amused that you would check my account.  All I have is sins on mine.  I was just mentioning my opinion.  I'm out of here before I offend anyone else.

I'm not surprised he'd check after someone says the game sucks, due to the 100,000 pirates trying to connect to multiplayer who ruined the early multiplayer experience and were directly responsible for many of the poor reviews that Demigod received in the first few days.

That may not have been your intention - and your brother may really have Demigod (I don't know either way), but I think you managed to stomp on a sore point, especially when you went beyond stating your dislike and said that the reviews all said it was bad (even though the reasons it got panned had less to do with the game's quality and more to do with, well, pirates).

Also, it's easy to forget that this subforum (PC Gaming) is one of the off-topic Stardock forums, which means it's available from everything from Joe User to Window Blinds. I'm reading it via GalCiv 2, although lately I'm just as likely to pick it up from Elemental.

(I don't have Demigod and don't plan to purchase it - I'll get Sins first if I get anything outside Galciv 2 and Elemental at all. I just kinda sympathize with Brad on this point)

Yea,  I somehow figured out how to pirate Demigod but at the same time couldn't figure out how to pirate sins of a solar empire *snaps fingers*.  I hate piracy of games.  It would be a lack of support for the things I like but none of this means anything when it comes to a opinion on a game.  Piracy is also no excuse for a failed online,  I don't even know where you get that from.  Are you telling me that if 100,000 copies were sold and not pirated the online would be ruined too?  How the hell do pirates logging on ruin the online?  If anything it means more opponets for everyone.  I for one,  pirates or not would like to have more people playing sins.  Sick and tired of entering empty chat rooms on late Saurdays.

There was a perfect storm of things that made demigod's initial online experience not work - Gamestop's early release + the game getting torrented. The servers were hit with something like 18,000 legitimate attempts to log in and 100,000 illegitimate (that is, pirated) attempts. The result was that multiplayer was unplayable until Stardock and GPG sorted things out.

As for where I got it - other threads on this forum.

Anyway, I'm not trying to say you pirated the game (like I said, I don't know), I tried to explain why this was a sore point, but you're still defensive.

Just to throw my 2 cents in, I purchased a copy out of curiosity (I've been playing way too much Lord of the Rings online!).  Before the MMO disease I acquired, was a big RTS fan - still am.  Just hard to find time to play all the good stuff.  Big supporter of Stardock in spirit and sales.

My experience so far with the tournament is pretty fun - learning from trial and error.  I'm running an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 at stock 1.86 ghz, with an EVGA 8800 GT Akimbo 512 mb graphics card - everything set on high and performance pretty good actually.

Only regrets is the inability to save skirmishes, although they matches are so short perhaps this isn't that big a deal.  Fun game.  I haven't been bit by the multiplayer issues yet since I just started playing, but I am sure they will get worked out.
