Demigod is Great.

good job Gas Powered Games and Stardock. its a really good game and i highly recommend it for anyone who enjoyed Defense of the Ancients (Warcraft 3 custom map/mod).

its fun, fast paced, and competitive. easy to learn but hard to master. the multiplayer netcode is slightly awkward at the moment but presumably that will be patched up relatively shortly.

It's also good for the Stardock brand. Makes it known that all the games they're releasing are worth the money and great for strategy buffs. I'm seeing the same reprise from the Elemental staff as well.

Well yes the game is nice but it sucks very bad that its unplayable with single core CPU -.-V

I have EVERYTHING way better than recommended except CPU which is a single core 2,4GHz like minimum requirements say and the game is close to unplayable at least if you don't wanna wait 10 seconds for 1 ingame second which is what i am doing since yesterday.

skill cool down says 6 seconds and after 1 up to 2 mins later i can use the skill again ... and movement and scrollspeed is like a diashow.

I really hope the developer of Elemental try to make to game playable to as much ppl as possible ! hate it that most of the recent games won't work for me because of the CPU ... when i buy new CPU i need close to everything new which is to expensive for me atm. and i wouldn't want just a pc thats only a little bit stronger when i get a new one.

If performance is making it unplayable, you can get a e5200 processor for $90 Canadian that'll be all that and a bag of chips for playing demigod.  If your current 2.4ghz is a pentium 4, you might even be able to use your current motherboard and grab 4 gigs of ddr2-800 for $20 Canadian.  Then if your feeling saucy, or have a friend whose into computer hardware, you could overclock it to 3ghz with the stock cooler (no extra money spent).  Upgrading to a budget dual core is dirt cheap now.  I did my dual core upgrade when Supreme Commander came out :D

Yeah, that is a big deal. I have been having troubles w/ Sins and may have troubles with Demigod on my other rigs because the games are just not optimized for lower-end systems using flagship hardware. I have an ATi HD3870 or X1950Pro struggling to play a multiplayer game of Sins even if I really lower the settings down for whatever reason. The fact that my main rig is hosting the game should relieve some stress from the other machines, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I always look up to Ensemble Studios in their method of making a game like Age of Empires III even compatible with pixel shader 1.1 just so everyone could have a wack at the game. I really wish other game devs took that initiative where you could ask a friend, who only has a laptop, to buy the game so you can play online together and not worry about the game not working on their system. Demigod might not even work on my laptop even though it has 128MB of dedicated video memory because the readme file says it might not even start up. Seems like, to play this game, I have to move around some hardware of mine or else it just won't play on some machines. Sad isn't it?

yes of course upgrading to dual core is so cheap because i only need the processor new mainboard new rams ......

my pc isn't that bad only the CPU sucks and getting everything new only because of the cpu is not really worth it ...

not everyone wants to spend so much money on a computer only to spend even more money for games that do not work right now.

Funny , noticed Demigod release on Torrent trackers first :)

It's there for 4 days now, and this time no "buy it Stardoc on our side" messages - guess because of GOO.

Also aperently there is a new trand (ok, may be new just for me) - people set up hamanchi servers to play network games as Demigod.

Demigod doesn't have GOO.

I know but this does not change the fact that StarDoc changed i'ts aproach , I guess so are pirates.

They didn't change their approach, so obviously you don't know. :P

No Stardock game will have Goo on it. It was made so other publishers would have something more user-friendly than SecuROM/Steamworks to use.

Than it's not my mistake but common mistake, currently that's the publicity StarDock has "acquired" with intoduction of GOO idea.

Stardock plasters DRM-free all over the place. Where are you getting that? I never even heard of GOO.

I didn't notice Demigod on the trackers, that's because I wasn't lookin' for it there. Best to pay for something first if you're even going to consider downloading it. I still wonder how there are trackers for illegal things. People using my ISP get their Internet access shutdown if they're downloading torrents illegally. My university did that too, but for torrenting anything or use of any P2P. I think it's great they discourage piracy, but it's a bit of a drive into packets I don't want them looking at. Either way, it's really not funny at all the game was up on the trackers.

/Signed. Its just not playable for me because of this! I've a good grafic card but this doesn't matter. I'll keep on playing battleforge which has better grafics and playable smothly!

Games like Demigod are going to force people to upgrade to multicore

CPUs and better graphics cards. Mother boards with on-board graphic

cards aren't going to cut it.

Right now PC hardware is really selling at a good price, if you have the $$

to upgrade. When building a new system IMHO ... the OS is costing more

then some of the components now.

I hate to say ... I upgrade WAY TOO much .... ;)

The catch is if GPG made Demigod for a single processor it would get slammed for not having up to date graphics.

It sucks to upgrade all the time, but it is cheaper now then ever before.   I still remember paying 1200 bucks for my first computer so it could have all four colors!

Yeah I'm an old guy!

Actually, if they had an option in the menu "turn off all backgrounds, needless special effects, stage details", then it WOULD be playable. They really need that option. You could play the game in wireframe or in blocky mode. Those are good ways to get more people to purchase and play the game and then my older computer can play. I recall once playing a game where on slower PCs, the trees no longer had leaves (and leaves falling off), they had big green hexagons and fences were not see-through, they were just concrete blocks. At least it made it playable on that old system.

Things like this I'm petitioning the Demigod people to do. Here's my vote, who's with me?

well i am not all to much into programming just made small programms in school an 2d minigames so i have no clue how hard it might be to make options for low end pc's

BUT i really don't think it would be to hard like the one above me sayed to give options to kill the background image and some other effects -.-V

well my problem is not the grafic but but still ...

for me it doesn't make the slightest change to play in lowest possible settings or highest possible (with forced 16x AA)

and i dunno but the grafics do not have all to much to do with the CPU do they ????? cuz some others here are like "get new grafic card" all over again and "they would get bet reviews because of bad grafic if it would been done for single core" while we say its only the need of a dual core cpu that is annoying no problem with the grafic at all ...

Its not like Brad didn't warn people of the system reqs before it was released.

I've been trying out see how low I can go w/ my specs. I've got two more rigs to put this game on, a Pentium 4 3.06GHz w/ Hyper Threading + GeForce 7600GT 128MB (below spec on both fronts) or my Core2Duo 2GHz + GeForce M8400GS 128MB laptop which is also below spec because the game calls for 256MB of graphics memory. Both computers have Vista 64 and 4GB of RAM. I wonder how the game will fare even on the lowest settings.

So far, the lowest hardware I've installed Demigod to is an Athlon 64 X2 @ 2.5GHz + Radeon X1950Pro 256MB with 2GB of RAM and Vista 64. On that it works on Medium, but it kinda hangs just a bit when playing a starting match. After a while it smooths out. I seem to be having a lot more luck on Low, but I'm wondering how high I can go while getting a stable framerate even when the action is packed on the screen and trying that with LAN gaming as well.

What I want to know is why the game is requiring a dual-core CPU. Maybe it's because it was programmed to parallel process, maybe it is because the netcode puts the affinity for the network card on one of the cores so the other can utilize all the crazy artificial intelligence going on in the game. I have no clue but I'd really like some answers at least on why there's no "turn off all backgrounds, needless special effects, stage details" like I said above.

I have a $200 Quad core... Why didn't I get any chips? :'(

Methinks the chips, like the cake, ARE A LIE! 8C

i use a dual core 3ghz cpu setup and an single 8800 graphics card. Demigod runs fine and usually its well over 30fps on max settings. I hope GPG/stardock continues to update and starts to add new content soon. Its an addicting game, course my online time is terrible. Few times ive tried i get owned..but at least there isnt teabagging ;P

I think this game sucks.  Just like the reviews say.  It is one thing for sins not to have Single Player but for a game with gods and demons that is silly.  Not to mention it barely works.  This game deserves to tank hard and let the developers know not to rush half finished products out the door.  More content please.  The presentation is ok but that never sells the game for me alone.

The average on metacritic is 77 right now.

Wolverine got 74,  there goes that credibility out the window.  Metacritic is bad because it averages in some small peanut gallery gamer magazines and sites that have an opinion that no one cares for.  The game obviously won't tank completely it.  The presentation is great.  The sound and visuals are good.  everything else just kind of dissapoints me.
