Banned because I live in LA and I've been to England, Scotland, Wales, etc. and I can honestly say weather aside, they're actually fairly equal as long as you're in the metropolitan areas.  The biggest difference is So. Cal is one giant city along the coast from north of L.A. (Malibu / Santa Clarita) to San Diego (German for a whale's vagina if you've ever watched Anchorman) and across the border to south of Tiajuana (With the exception of Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base being right in the middle and undeveloped) whereas most other places in the world you have at least some rural gap between their urban centers.

Banned because Camp Pendleton is "underdeveloped" because it's actually a donut shape; the hole in the middle is where the fire all their shells&such for target practice.

And it's a military base; what do you expect, an ultramodern metropolis?

Cal on a satellite map, it's all urban with the exception of undeveloped Pendleton.  I have no expectation of it ever being developed, nor any wish for that to happen.  I've been spending time there in one capacity or another for the last 17 years.  It's a nice place exactly the way it is.

I also rather like Camp Pendleton; I have fond memories of being there (especially at 4th Light Armor Reconnaissance; my dad was a Gunny there and one time my sister&mom had gone somewhere, so I'd go to work with him and everything, and got to climb around on the LAVs).
