Flak is overpovered

Flak is overpovered

Flak is OP

Flak is fine against fighters....  BUT  ,IS grossly OP against other units. Espesialy TEC and vasari flak.

Tec due to higest hp /cheapest cost and vasari due phaaaaase missiles and charget missiles.

That said: Flak is fine against fighters

Why? Well...

It is night impossible to remove flak from the battlefield due to near immunity to LRF fire and STUPIDLY hig hp... best hp/cost ratio of all frigs and cruisers.

So flak that is nearly unconterable is now a permanent deterrant from using fighters. This leads to 60/40 ratio in LRF/Flak fleet composition wich is now the "way to win". You cant use LF's due to LRM precense and you cant use fighters due to 75% building penalty of flak. HC's are only option, but by the time you get to that point, it is usualy too late.

Sollution?

Nerf Flak HP 50% and lover the armor a bit. It is still usualy most ignored unit in the field, but atleast now it whuld be removable, not like 1200HP 300 shield gardas are now.

so lrms+flak living on their own is somehow a sin, but carrier+anything living on it's own is ok?

So siddy's complaint is not against the flak ships themselves but against the combo of lrms+flak.

Thats like complaining that the spearman+archer combo in most medival games is overpowered.

Its is an overpowered combo for a n00b or AI. But a compenent tactician can out play this situtation.

I think his actual complaint is that, for him personally, games last too long.  He wants games to be over quicker, and if he could reduce the hit points of units he has to wade through to win (namely flak), he can make games finish quicker.

If that is the case, I am against any adjustment to flak.  First reason is that I don't think the game should be balanced around the tastes of quick-twitch rusher-types who play fast games on fast speed in MP, possibly while snorting speed and typing GO! GO! GO! the minute there is one tiny little lag in an otherwise fairly smootly-running session.  I mean, this game did bill itself as "grand strategy," and balancing it around people who prefer a tactical clickfest (and a fast one at that) is just bait-and-switch and false advertising.  But secondly, flak used to suck big-time.  I'd hate to see it re-suck, thus all you see is tons of carrier spam and nothing else.

I remember one game back in v1.05 where, by the end of the game, a TEC player had 300+ flak.  You wouldn't believe it, but I almost lost my cap.  Yes, 300 flak can be a pain, but so can 300 of anything.

Did you ever see 300 bombers make a run on a cap or a SB?  One word: pwned.  150 HCs, still pwned.

Anyway, just wanted to tell my story about the 300+ flak fleet.  It was funny being on the receiving end.

You people on these forums can't make up your collective minds.  Flak sucks. Flak owns. Flak is OP...

Yes, I believe you, 300 spartans was also a pain in the butt, just ask Xerses, he knows, he was there and it wasn't pretty!

I agree, scouts are OP, anyone who disagree has apprently never been sensor probe to death before. I vote for a limit of 1 scout per player, that way Raging Amish wont be able to spam scouts!

Sensor probe, meh.  500 scouts with timed explosives...now that's op.

Oh, and on a serious note, Raging Amish was probably one of the best players I've ever seen.

Martyrdom, am I the only one who finds this upgrade (almost) useless, I have tried it only once (just to test it) and it sucks, 250 points of damage and you lose the ship. I dont really find this upgrade attractive. Maybe I'm not using it right? Maybe if I use it on an enemy cap ship trying to jump out? Does mitigation protect against Martyrdom?

After some testing flak being op is laughable. Now the person behind the flak may have been op. Laughable.
