[ATTN.: Stardock] Majesty 2 (new...)

[ATTN.: Stardock] Majesty 2 (new...)

a few previews... a request...

I`m not sure how Stardock approaches acquiring projects for Impulse or what the diplomacy involved is particularly. That said, ideally I`d love to see Majesty 2 get 'signed'... taken under the Stardock wing and nurtured into the kind of game it has so much potential to be.

Those links are for the latest game previews. It *looks* like the development team is on the right track, and that they have completion ability. Love to try a build of it.

Looks like Gamestop broke another release date, Majesty 2 forums has reports of the game being purchased from there already.

Wow, that company blantantly flaunts its disregard for street release dates.  I too know several people who have bought it from them already.

Wal-mart has it too. So it looks like maybe the only companies that don't have it released seem to be the online stores. I shoudl have said the digital download stores because all the e-tailers have it available for shipping too.

Is this possibly the physical shops trying to get a competitive edge in on the digital retailers?

Let me rephrase that in the form of a statement.

This is nothing but the physical shops trying to get a competitive edge over the digital retailers.

By breaking legally agreed to contracts.

Well like I told my sister, who picked up her copy of it today at a local gamestop. There is something messed up about people being able to go get it on a whim and those who pre-ordered online for digi copies not getting it till a couple of days after. I don't do pre-orders myself, but seems wrong. Besides that, the employee at Gamestop tried to convince her not to buy it. Said it was a rehash of the first one... which I think it is. I wish they had done a lot more with the sequel than update the graphics. The multiplayer, according to her, is pretty shallow. No AI. Only a few maps. No options to mess with even for the same map. The original had a handful of maps but lots of options to make them feel fresh. Disappointing but not disasterous I suppose. Oh, and no ability to guide tax/repair routes so that inn you put in th emiddle of nowhere isn't a suicide run for your peasants.

They need to build in stronger defensive clauses, aka - getting paid when broken.

wow...just wow. I just read that the game has been "warezed" already. It's not even in the stores here yet. :omg:

Getting paid unreasonable and totally out of the scale fines, you mean, right? That would be the only way to stop those idiots from "accidentally" breaking release dates. As long as they have to compete with Digital distribution, they will keep doing it. Lame. Or simply don't offer the game in those who repeatedly break release dates. I know it hurts some publishers/developers/gamers but you would be denying income to those companies.

They GOT TO do it though, it's just a question of when. Their sales will hurt because the game has been pirated (BEFORE digital release).

Anyone (like me) who has experienced scroll stutter will be pleased to know that the patch for Majesty 2 has eliminated it. Love this game...

Cool! Yeehah! I can`t type properly I`m so excited!

One of the best PC games ever made (technically one of the best ‘series’…) is getting its first expansion: Majesty 2: Kingmaker! This one sees the return of the Goblins and their King, Grum-Gog (or similar). Instant buy…

I`d do a Happy Dance, but I don`t do Happy Dances…

I bought this one retail though - I wonder how I can get digital download content applied to my retail version. Hmm.

Majesty 2 is ok, but it's no Majesty 1. A good game sure, it just doesn't capture that feel that the first one had for me though.

I loved the first one. Really, really, really loved the first one. After some reports from my sister with no. 2, didn't even buy it.

My post from the Paradox forums:

Still no news on the promised randomization patch or on AI-controlled kingdoms, so that co-op LAN could be possible. The AI is still terrible. And the game plays more like an RTS than a sim, and not a very good RTS at that. The original Majesty was an exceptional sim.

If these things get fixed, I'll buy the XP on release date. Otherwise, I'll snatch it up in a year when it's selling for $5.

Majesty 2 sounded like such a good game. But it's just not up to the quality of some other Paradox titles. For being mainly a single-player strategy game publisher, you'd think Paradox would at least put some pressure on the developers to get some AI even up to the level of EU3's release AI.
