Game crashes to desktop during gameplay

I have the latest version of TPM. During about half of the games I play on my new computer, the game quickly and cleanly crashes to the desktop. Also, the mouse cursor constantly flickers, and sometimes when a new turn stops, it jumps to a different part of the screen. It never did these things to me on my old computer. If anyone could help me, I'd really, really appreciate it. Thanks.

An update: it does not just crash during a game. Today I played a game, went to the main menu, and clicked "Print Shop." It then crashed to desktop.

 

Also, the mouse issue I also described seems to only happen when I plug in my mouse, not when I use the touch pad on the laptop.

 

None of these problems happen when I play other games with more intense graphics.
