Beta move up?

Beta move up?

In the latest journal entry (Are you Human? Are you sure?) it said this

I expect the first version of this to be included with Beta 1 of Elemental (i.e. this isn't some "future" thing) which we expect will be out this Spring.

Ok, I was wondering if this mean the beta has been moved up. Originally it was slated for June 09, but that is in the summer and not the spring. I was thinking that they might have moved it up because of the large interest in the game, but his could just be wishful thinking on my part....GOD I hope it has been move up XD

I have two questions for Brad

(i) Can I be in BETA 0? Please??? I own all the games you mentioned.

(ii) It is hard for me to pre-order games many months in advance as I prefer to pay by Paypal where possible. Is there anything you can do?

Please people, no beta begging, mmmkay?

Unless it is for the laughs, we do so love the laughing  :D

In terms of the beta, all users who pre-order have access to the beta program.

But we are looking to have a private Beta 0 or pre-beta or late alpha or something available before the beta program begins that will largely go to users with high karma / have GalCiv II / Sins  / Demigod so that we can make sure the first beta works.  There's a lot of new tech going into this that we will need some outside testing with.
But... but... all my Karma is in the Sins forums!

well we can all hope right to get in regardless of karma right

honestly i hope we all get to help as quick as we can, i love how stardock allow us to get a hold of it before it's done and to help, unlike most companies that hoard their products until (they "think" though usually not nowadays *sigh*) near total perfection.

That's right for the Beta. For that other "pre-Beta"/"late-Alpha" that Frogboy talks about, we shouldn't worry too much. Those who take part will share with us information and screenshots, so at least we will get some fun too.

Give the man a cookie

but yeah if it helps the game, and we still get some titbits we all win!

Hmm...
[ ] preorder
[ ] karma
[X] GalCiv 2
[X] Sins
[ ] Demigod

Seems I have some stuff to do... Demigod and preorder fairly easy.... Hmm... *wonders how many gmail accounts it will take to get enough karma* |-)

Its such a long way to june :(

Is there going to be somewhere to sign up for this late alpha/early beta? Or is it just going to be based on what people have purchased and how active they are in the forums?

Regardless, I'm really looking forward to this game. Sounds like it'll be a blast to play and mod!

Hahah. I'm impatient and I first heard about the game in Game Informer today. (Busy at work, so no time to do anything significant!)

With the track record of Stardock developed games however, I preordered as soon as I read a little about it. I'll wait for the beta. Patiently. Now I'm going back to the SoaSE (Yes, Stardock only published that one) Entrenchment beta.

Sigh. i got the games, and i havea preorder. but I am not really one to post much..

hey do it help that my preorder was paid by the Find the Stardog prize? now to find out if they gave the boxed preorder like i asked or the DL one and how to upgrade if that is the case..

Hehe :)  Next paycheck, in goes a pre-order for this.  I can wait patiently for the "public" beta.

Well I plan to buy the Elemental game soon to be part of the official beta program.

I believe my two strong systems with dual booting Win2000 and WinXP_64bit might allow me to qualify for some special testing.  :)

Just found out about this game, Read a lot and am loving what I see!   Hrm, Karma huh?  Darn it!

*Plants some Karma seeds*  now just to water it twice a day! :sun:

Since I don't have demi-gods yet guess I'll have to wait for the full beta.  *Twitch*  Oh well, I'll just have to amuze myself with Sin's and getting my empire in MOM a bit bigger. }:)

Karma... doesn't work like that.

To anyone thinking of hoarding Karma good or bad, just remember that Karma is a big fan of Irony.

Frogboy - Likewise, I've purchased a fair amount of Stardock software in the past few years, and would love to take part in Alpha/Beta-0/whatever.  Ihaven't pre-ordered yet, partly because I'd like a spot, so to speak.  I have a CS background and work for a software company, so I think the feedback quality would be there.

Is the intent to keep the audience small just to be able to manage it more efficiently?

Edit: I ask for reasons expressed better above.  I play a fair amount, but haven't necessarily posted a ton.  Naturally, I'd expect to post a lot more if I'm part of a beta.  :)

Wait, what? You haven't pre-ordered yet because you'd like a spot, even though the way to get a spot is to pre-order? o_O

LOL

Rather, because spots on Beta-0 aren't guarantee, I'm holding off on pre-ordering.  If they were guaranteed, I'd pre-order tomorrow.

I can see why what I wrote was confusing, though.  :p

Naturally, I'm also biased because I have 0 Karma.  :p

That makes more sense but I still don't get it. Frogboy said that people who've preordered the game (and preferably other SD games) were more likely to be able to get into this so-called beta-0. So if you want a spot in said beta you'd still be better off preordering. Even if you don't get into beta-0, you'd still get beta-1; and you wouldn't be charged until beta-1 begins, either.

Hey, you're right?  I could have sworn it said +0 yesterday....must have been staring at the screen for too long.  Cheers!

Hopefully the beta testers with 64-bit OS  systems will be testing the very very large worlds to squash any heavy memory usage bugs and large map world bugs.
