Hey Guys,

I was having the same problem with Bootskin Pro on Vista 32Bit.  I temporarily disabled my Firewall and VirusScan (am using WindowsLiveOneCare right now) and that seemed to fix ALL the problems I was having with the Stardock/Impulse problems.  Hope this helped.

Well here we ar two weeks after the release of "Bootskin Pro," and still not working, nor any further patches.

I noticed that both "Deskcape" and "LogonStudio" Vista, (Programs that both were working), have again been updated....why not Bootskin Pro?

Because it takes more time to find the bug?  Because the lead dev has been on vacation? because Mars si rising over venus?  ;)

It's Stardock . . they'll come through.  :D

There is a beta version available through Impulse now that should address many of the issues.  Please reply here and let me know if it's fixed your issues or you still have problems.

Thanks

It appears the true root of the problem has been for users with an English version of Vista that were using a non-US locale (such as the UK).  Unfortunately, the code that was looking for the location of the winload.exe.mui file ended looking in the wrong folder because it was assuming there would be a folder for that locale on the system, which there is not always.  However, there has been a beta released that should address this issue.  Please let us know if you are still having the same problems and whether you're using an English version of Vista or some other language version, and what locale you have set.

Looks like working ok now in UK just made and applied bootskin, just going to reboot to check.

work perfectly thanks.

Bootskin Pro now loads a Bootskin without error, but sadly upon reboot, I get the Visa Aura Screen.

My "Locale" is set for English (Australia). The Bootscreen change appears in the "Windows\System32\en-US" directory. There is no "en-AU" directory.

Please keep trying.

I have a german system Win Vista 32 Ultimate. Set to german/germany. No error messages so far, but everytime I boot up, for me the Vista Aura Screen appears too. No selected bootskin is shown.

Please help.

Unfortunately, there is a separate issue for users with international versions of Vista.  This issue is currently being investigated as well, but at this time we don't have an ETA for a fix.

Same problem for  me still I'm afraid...

Vista Ultimate 32 bit sp1 all updates, english/UK, UAC off.

One other question though for your help. I see some peoples version of BootSkin Pro is 1.00.037 The version I downloaded is 1.00.035, but Impulse doesnt offer me the option to upgrade/patch.

Am I missing something, I thought Impulse would tell me if I neeed to download and update?

Thanks to all the people posting here with their help.

Do you have 'show pre-release versions' checked?  Click the blue Stardock Orb (top left) and put a check mark to show pre-release versions. That should give you the update.

Thanks Hankers and Zubaz, I followed your advice and I have now patched up to 1.01.023 and BS P now works.

Still it begs the question why the option 'show pre-release versions' is not the default settings for Impulse, as it is normaly the pre release patches that are vital to cure bugs.

Thanks again guys.

Beta's have not had teh vetting that the releases have and so should be used with caution.  The released versions may have a few bugs for a few users but are generally more complete and better tested.

There is a new beta that's been published for BootSkin Pro that should help alleviate some frustration.  However, there is one thing that has been discovered that will break BootSkin that is out of our control and is squarely on the shoulders of the user.  In the Regional and Language Options menu under Control Panel, there is the Administrative tab, under which allows you to change the "Language for non-Unicode programs" locale.  If this is set to a locale that you don't have a language pack installed for, then BootSkin won't be able to find the correct resources to edit.  This isn't a "bug" necessarily in BootSkin, so much as the way that locale settings are handled in Windows.  Please let us know of any further problems that changing this setting to the "correct" locale doesn't fix.  For users with English versions of Vista, you may have to set this locale to "English (United States)" if it isn't already.  You should be able to change the settings under the other tabs without incident so long as this setting under the Administrative tab is "correct."  Thank you for your patience!

Finally thanks to "kaftw " instruction and change my language setting from English Canada to English US Boot skin is finally working for me.  Im using Vista Pro 32 bit and it work flaelesly.  Thanks again bro.

"kaftw'" the sugesstion that you made does not fix the problem for me. ("Locale" setting in the "Administrator Tab" is set to English (US).

I still get the "Aurora" Boot Image.

Vista 32bit Ultimate Edition - english (australia)

Has any other "Australian" using this product managed to get it to work?

Make *sure* you have version 1.01[b].024 (or later). I had to reinstall impulse to get the update. :annoyed:
