Murphy's Laws

Murphy's Laws

How many are there out there"

I for one have always enjoyed the sardonic wisdom of Murphy's Laws. There appear to loads of them, corollaries and extensions too!

The rules? 1. No big 'G''ing answers, please.

               2. No "Overkill" just one or two per post...gotta leave some for others, right?

               3. Have fun!

To get it started: 1. Whatever can go wrong, will.

                         2.  What ever can go wrong will, at the most inopportune time and you will be blamed.

Let the games begin!

[Hopes that post wasn't crossing the line]

Naaah...no worries!

Murphy's Law of Love: The qualities that most attract a woman to a man are usually the same ones she can't stand years later.

Not really sure why mothers-in-law should attract such opprobrium - I am quite fond of mine, and it is generally worth remembering that your wife may well turn out very much like her mother.

For Politics I prefer McCarthy's Law Of Intelligence: Being in politics is like being a football coach. You have to be smart enough to understand the game and dumb enough to think it's important.

He was probably just putting John Cameron's Law into action - No matter how many times you've had it, if it's offered, take it, because it'll never be quite the same again.

Weatherman's Law:

Sex is like snow; you never know how many inches you are going to get or how long it is going to last.

Everything has an equal and opposite REaction..

I'm feeling equally opposed to that!

Former AU Prime Minister: Life wasn't meant to be easy..

Just a Citizen: Yes.. and we see your Government has implimented that policy.

One doesn't have to be a lousy F**k to be a politician, but it makes the job at hand a lot easier. :-"

Politicians? OK...Murphy's Law of Pol's:

We could do worse, we always have.

And just when you think they can do no worse, they have the uncanny knack of surprising you with a performance surpassing all (prior) efforts to disappoint.

O:)

Very true.. mankind in general might have started the trend of self destruction, but the government perfected it. XD

Murphy's law #668 sub-section 4, clause 3, paragraph 2: husbands preoccupied with sex invariably have fences and other erections fall down around them.

:-" :w00t:

Murphy's Law of Love: The qualities that most attract a woman to a man are usually the same ones she can't stand years later.

Oh how true: my first wife was attracted because I was a hard worker and took home a decent wage. She left saying: "You don't pay me enough attention"....  because I was working hard, 10 - 12 hours a day to take home a decent wage.

Sex is like snow; you never know how many inches you are going to get or how long it is going to last.

Nah, sex is like a bank account... at the moment of withdrawal you lose interest. O:)

I should be so lucky!  If my (now) wife turns out to be anything like her mother, I will be truly blessed. :sun: <3 :inlove:

Er, what Am I talking about... IF?   I'm already blessed... and my mother-in-law's influence is/was very much responsible for that state of contentment. :)

Very true.. mankind in general might have started the trend of self destruction, but the goverment perfected it.

They sure did... and the Queensland Government has drastically speeded up the demise/downfall of many by privatising the gov't run electricity commission.  Since it was privatised around 4 years ago, electricity costs have more than doubled, with a 13% increase slated for the 1st quarter of 09... bringing the average households electricity bill to around $400 per quarter, something pensioners and low income families can ill-afford.  So much for privatisation making it competitive and keeping costs low/reasonable.

So the Murphy's law here is... give a private company the 'power' and it will use it against you.

How could I forget Sir Joh? Hehe, As a kid I'd always wanted to drop a silent but stinky fart in an elevator, so it should have been one of my proudest moments when I got that opportunity.  However, when that day finally arrived and I dropped a ripe one in an elevator at the new Police HQ in Brisbane, Terry Lewis (Police Commissioner), Russ Hinze (Police Minister) and Joh Bjelke Petersen got in a split second later and suddenly turned my lifelong dream into a nighmare.

All I could see between the ground and 7th floors was Joh briefly looking at Russ and Terry, then glancing over my workmates before fixing his eyes on me... and with Russ Hinze muttering more than once: "You dirty, dirty bastard!", I suddenly knew what it felt like to be on the wrong side of the law.

The applicable Murphy's law here would be: If you're going to drop your guts in an elevator at work, make sure your boss is on vacation, or inevitably he will get in and make you feel like crap. :S o_O :-"
