Planets and ships begin to rotate very fast, and game crashes when full battles take place

After a long vacation, I have reinstalled GC2, and I have an issue with the game crashing.  After some unknown amount of time (15-20 minutes maybe) the game will go into strange mode.  All of the planets will start rotating insanely fast on the plaet screen, and all the ships will do the same in the shipbuilder mode.  If you go into a full battle, then all the ships in the battle will bind together at the center and rotate together causing the game to lock up.  The map will randomly move throughout the universe when it is zoomed in while this is happening as well.  This has happened before and after the update to V2.0 while playing Dark Avatar.

Typing this out, I am starting to think it may be an issue with my mouse or keyboard sending erroneous signals, as the only way to fix this is to reboot my computer.

This problem is usually an indication of outdated video drivers. Check your manufacturer's web site for more recent versions.

Postd by Kryo in this thread:

The super-fast spinning things issue is caused by dual core processors without proper driver/bios updates. You may also need to check your motherboard manufacturer's website for a BIOS update.

Planets and ships spinning out of control and screen scrolling issues are most generally due to the use of an Athlon 64 x2 CPU without updated CPU drivers. If this the case with your machine, download and install the AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (x86 and x64 exe) file found at the bottom of this page.

That is probably it.  Thanks for the response.  I will try it out tonight.

Do I need the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer Version 1.1.4, or AMD CPUInfo Version 2.2.0 (The file at the bottom of the page)?

I guess I can d/l them both, and try both.
