Thank Goodness It's All Over And Things Can Go Back To Normal

Barack Obama wins the US Election.

Well the fat lady has sung and the US Predidential Election 2008 is finally over.  Congratulations to Barack Obama and commissurations to John McCain, who was gracious in defeat and asked the American people to support Obama's Presidency.

Good on you John McCain.

Exactly so and Canada is the #1 supplier of oil to the USA.

I meant south of us but if we became energy independent that wouldn't matter as much. My main point is bringing the manufacturing jobs back to the US.

I recently found out just how impossible it is to be a poltician that doesn't sell out. I didn't vote for Obama but I understand the tough road he traveled and his rivals vetted him more than any other candidate in history and all they could come up with is a bunch of drivel. As of now I respect the man, his office, and myself for supporting him.

I strongly feel in forcing big changes. I know Americans like stability but some will never change unless forced to.

On a side note: Come January 21st when congress tries to give themselves payraises we need to prevent this from happening. Even though we aren't allowed to vote on it, WE need to stand up and say no. It will be easy. All we have to do is let them know we will not re-elect anyone that votes for a pay raise for themselves. They are public servants, it is not a career.

Amen to that Brother, Amen!  Trouble is that old Chinese proverb (May you live in interesting times.) keeps running thru my mind...   :)

It would be nice Craig, but although we all say that, we still go out and buy the cheaper imported goods simply because they are often the better bargain, just look at the auto industry.  Manufacturing things is all well and good, but only if you have someone to sell the products to and our current cost of business both labor and taxation is usually non competitive in the global market place.

Bush had our support. He lost it.

You are correct here.  Sad but true indeed.

just look at the auto industry

If they didn't make disposable cars Americans would buy them. I recently dumped out of a Saab for a Suburu. I would have bought American but that's just silly. :P

/ an '08 STi, it is the funnest car I have owned. I hope things turn around so I can keep it.

What a truly simplistic reading...

The POINT is that yes, he died, as all men do, but the ideals of peace he stood for defeated the British tyranny that oppressed the Indian people.

He didn't just die as all men do, he was assasinated.  There is always the cost and that was my "truly simplistic"point.  There were  many factors in the end of British rule in India although without dobt Gandhi played a significant role.  Do you believe that the Jews could have tried Peaceful non-compliance against the Nazis and survived and all would have turned out well?  Do you think we should not have fought WW2 ?

It is certainly true as Gandhi said tthat in the end the tyrants fall, but I believe that every now and then someone has to give them that final push!

I had a 1989 Dodge Dakota that I traded in in 2005.  Only problems I ever had was when people ran into me.  But it does seem that american cars are being recalled a lot, last one was for Chinese valve stems.

If they made taxicabs in China would they be Chinese Checkers?;p

Ok now time for some poking fun at the political scene.
