I would be up for the Alpha being mostly for people who have participated a lot in the previous betas (I'm not in this list) say 50 or more of them.  Reward the people who have given lots of feedback.  The rest could be random like Frogboy was thinking.

It's really worth remembering that Brad's been blunt about the first full beta 'not being fun' and the alpha will be an even more primitive build.

I really hope that any 'lottery' winners or folks otherwise invited for the alpha will be able to resign and have their spot given to someone who is better suited or has more time. I'm interested in the idea in general, but I might be a low-value participant if the focus is on multiplayer basics or battle mechanics. I also have no idea from week to week how busy I'll be earning money, so I'd feel very guilty if the lottery gave me a spot that I just didn't have time to use.

At this point, I don't care about "fun" I just want to sink my teeth into it.   Once I get my fingers on a functioning copy of anything Elemental, my ability to discuss its features will be vastly improved.

I agree with landisaurus.  I'm aware it will not be "fun".  I just want to see where the development is out, and help test it out.

I recently got laid off work (YESS!!!) so I have plenty of time to devote to this baby (YESS!!!X2). 

The Fantasy Strategy game has been my favorite type of game since Master of Magic and Warlords.  Elemental looks very much like a combination of MoM and Age of Wonders (the first one)...both of which make my top 5 list.

I still remeber those times when the game was recently announced and june seemed soooooo far away.... Well, now it's for july but it feels so close now, sooo close.

Hi Wintersong, my old job was okay (I was a Purchaser).  But I had an asshole boss who liked to take out his insecurities on me.

I have a lot of resources still though (no girlfriend or kids = I am pretty well off financially).  So there is no stress of me going back to work anytime soon.

This means that I have a ton of time to put towards this game once the Beta is out.

I'm pretty sure eetmorsqrls has.  (I'd almost expect eet to be one of the selected 24 if I saw any activity outside of the irc)  but of course you'd have to ask, since I don't really know.

Just used my "Demigod player's 20% off coupon" to pre-order.  Can't wait to try this baby out.

I somehow doubt that the alpha will focus on multiplayer basics (considering multiplayer is more of a sideline - not something done in an alpha) or combat mechanics (cloth map only -> probably no tactical combat). I think the alpha will focus on general kingdom/channeler management and that kind of stuff. The stuff that really needs to be in before they can really start adding the other features.

I'm perfectly ready to accept being totally mistaken about what might be the technical focus for the (neo)alpha. My notion there is based on sloppy recollections of long-ago talk about the alpha, and then there was Demigod...

But I still hope that anyone who gets a slot and knows they won't be able to use it much has the option to put it back in the hat for another lucky winner to receive. My work is classic feast-and-famine contracting, and the famine side has been so strong since last fall that I'll definitely need to gorge on the billable hours if the feed-trough is suddenly overflowing.

Used the 20% coupon, it lowered the price enough that shipping and handling was only 1 cent($9.99 saved, $10.00 s&h).

If I buy extra copies of Demigod, Galciv2, and Sins do I get more lotto tickets?   

Might be cheaper if I just pre-ordered more copies of Elemental.

Pre-ordered even though I barely missed out on the 20% code.  I have my reservations, but I like what I've seen so far a lot.  Hoping for a great experience!
