Greetings!

Welcome to the world of Elemental!

Ever played D&D or some other role playing game? Ever wondered about the poor sovereign who ruled the land you were running around in stirring up trouble? You're about to find out in Elemental!

Elemental puts you directly into the game as the powerful sovereign of a fledgling kingdom who has the relatively unique ability to channel magic from the shards of magic.  You can imbue your minions with the ability to channel this  magic too as long as you are willing to give up some of your essence to them.

Over the course of the next year, we'll be launching a public beta -- by the end of next Spring and while the release date is tentative February 2010, that date is subject to the public beta. No NDAs. We don't ship until it's the best game we can make it.

In these forums you'll see debates, discussions and ideas on how to make the game better.  On some things we'll agree, in other places we'll disagree and explain why.  If we don't agree with an idea or suggestion, we'll try to explain why we believe the way we do and defend our design choices when possible.  All players are encouraged to participate.

If it's like the betas of our other games, it should be a lot of fun and should result in a much better game as the final result will take in the combination of the coolest and best ideas from the community.

Will we get some internal testing stories soon? I'd love to see one of your game reports on this new puppy.

Gweetingth! Looking forward to the beta and all that good stuff :) Please don't be shy on screenshots or dev journals as GW Swicord suggests :)

Very nice. I really like the art concept of the game and the idea.

Visuals that burrow into my brain and don't let go? An NDA-less beta from Stardock once again? I don't care if its turn-based, real-time or real-turn-time-based, I'm looking forward to Elemental.

Aloha! Wow this is something else - really cool. It brings back lots of memories from my misspent youth gaming.

As busy as my schedule is with running a company and setting up another one I would make time to help with the development of this game.

Been looking forward to this for a long time hope it is just as good as your other games!

Art style is not what i was hoping for however. Little cartoony for my taste but long as the gameplay matches your past efforts thats a minor concern for me :)

I'M signing up for the Beta. Twilight was my first go ahead for a Beta. Elemental is my kind of game. To be part of the Beta will be a great adventure!!

I love the ideas you have put forth and they way it looks well I can just say this will be a great game.

Keep up the good work.

I like the paper map idea very much. The other visuals look a bit fairy-tale-like, I suppose if you pick evil choices you'll have something gloomier?

You say the game will be very moddable. Any details on what you'll make moddable?

In particular: map scripts like in Civ IV? Races and units like in Dominions (I'm not asking to mod Ermor in, just 'standard' new races)?

Woot at least after +2 years of waiting :)

I remember that Draginol was talking about it since the first beta of Gal Civ 2.

I pre-ordered it asap.

For those who hesitate to pre-order it, i should remain them that there is a discount coupon code with the Stardock 2008 Report.

Art looks very interesting indeed! Can't wait for the beta.

By the way, I think this is the best looking of any of the Stardock websites, by FAR!

That coupon is only valid until mid november if memory serve. Will it still be good when they actually bill me in say June of 2009?

Same here.

I have been waiting for this game for 15 years!

Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic was the closest game to MoM so far, I hope Ele:WoM is everything MoM was and more.

The art style is so not my style but I don't care if they are stick figures if the gameplay is good.

I suppose it would be the date of the order that is important not the date of the billing. In the pre-order confirmation mail the $5 discount is listed in any case.

I hope to participate in these discusions when they occur. I'm sure my suggestions and comments will be quite useful.

And humble, too (old school wink-tag, no smiley button here for some reason)

Ye merry springtyme cannot thus come sooneth.

Wow, that was terrible. I'm stoked for this game. Can't wait to get my hands on the beta.

Hi all, just thought I'd pop in and give recognition. I too have waited since MoM in the mid 90's for a sequel. AOW was ok but IMO was to bogged down in micro management. I hope that Elemental stays true to the KISS principal like MOM did but with massive scope for gameplay. Haven't looked at the perorder thing yet but I will and look forward to beta testing E:WOM.

Cheers

Never played MoM, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. That said, this game is looking good to me so far and I love GalCiv2, which was my first real TBS game. I will be watching closely.

Played MOM for many years, then the AOWs, then the DOMs.

I'm looking forward to this game (already pre-ordered).

I hope it will be influenced to some degree by the three game worlds mentioned above but in the same time become its own game and sport unique features.

Oh, reading this springs a question to my mind, specifically "Elemental puts you directly into the game as the powerful sovereign of a fledgling kingdom who has the relatively unique ability to channel magic from the shards of magic. "

Does this mean there are "neutral" kingdoms as well, ones that cannot use magic at all? Ones you can make an alliance with or subjugate, or trade with? Like minor civs in Galciv2 perhaps? Some barbarian tribes, or a merchant republic or something?
