See Sins Entrenchment In Action on X-Play

I can't wait to play this

Last night, Blair Fraser of Ironclad Games was on G4's X-Play talking up the upcoming Sins of a Solar Empire microexpansion; Entrenchment.  On the October 9th episode, they show off the first of three new Starbases, massive defensive platforms that will decimate all but the largest, most powerful fleets.

Watch the video below to get all of the details, and a peek at the game in action.

After closer inspection, I think the object at 4:24 may actually just be debrees.... Remember you can focus and zoom in on them, which mught have been an accident in the making of this vid. Also, if you look closely, its spinning slowly, which would suggest anything other than a structure.... Debrees it is lol

Hehe...yeah, that was a funny one. The recording was live, and I was trying to focus on a fighter, but they kept exploding on me :)

So the thing at 4:24 is debris?

No bad at all. If I had to pick something to quibble over, it would be the host's comment "we could get it for free..." I think he should have chose his words more carefully. Maybe he should have said something along the lines of: Something unscrupulous people may chose to take. It is not a big point nor a sharp one but one nonetheless.

This REALLY annoyed me. "you can get the game for free" can be said about ANY game, that's the whole frickin' point of why Stardock doesn't use DRM, because DRM doesn't work.

Singling out that you can get this game for free implies that the anti-piracy measures on other games actually work and you can't get those for free - it really reveals a lot of ignorence in the gaming media.

I dont think it was really ignorance given his follow up comments. It was more of a misspoken statement then anything in my opinion. It was however a perfect opportunity for Craig to plug the GBR but I guess time was limited and with the pressure and all that jazz going on both of them simply went with the flow.

Might as well post this here. Gamespot posted its own preview of Entrenchment. Along with several quite yummy screenshots, it also announced new units:

"To balance out the incredible defensive advantages of a star base, Iron Clad has added several new offensive superweapon units. The TEC, for example, has access to the Ogrov Torpedo Cruiser that is designed to be a giant missile silo in space. It fires a pair of slow-moving nuclear missiles that cause immense damage to enemy structures. The Ogrov has tremendous range, so one strategy is to take out defense turrets from distance, forcing the enemy to engage outside the protection of its turrets. Of course, you have your fleet waiting to pick off these foolhardy frigates."

If the screenshot caption from Gamespot is to be believed, the thing on the splash screen in the above video is the Ogrov. Basically a torpedo launcher with engines :P

lol. someone else created a topic. it says there is a gameplay video in it (which I obviously missed). checking it out now and am curious whether its new stuff or made up from previous footage, as for example the interview shots.

I guess ID doesn't want them crying, either. But he's a Stardock guy too :P

It's a different video, but still only TEC, so same stuff. More things going boom, though!

Anyone want to speculate on what the 3rd one will be? Here my guess: Removing all or most of the hardcoded limits that remain, and the race stalking the vasari.

does this mean the "N" hotkey for enable twist view will be back?  It's only in dev.exe.

How about a campaign/editor?  Yup, I'm pushing negative karma territory asking for this -and the ability to set a player start point.

The is (well, was for the beta) a program made in Game maker that allowed you to place planets where you wanted and it would make a Galaxy file for you. I don't know if it's still around or if it works with the current version.
