Building a good economic planet

Building a good economic planet

So I've been playing ToA for a couple weeks now and I'm gotten a handle on the economy.  My question has to do with the most effective way to get more money out of my economy planets.  Should I..

A)  Build a farm, some entertainment, and lots of stock markets (those percentages add up!)

B)  Build several farms, lots of entertainment, and some stock markets (lots of people pay lots of taxes!)

C)  Build a farm lots of entertainment, and some stock markets (using the high morale to keep my tax slider higher (more taxes equals more money!))

So far I typically stick with situation A.  As far as difficult goes I was playing on tough, but I just moved it up to challenging, because I was beating tough pretty easily.

First, Sole Soul is exactly right on the game mechanics.  And I did not know that the Suicidal research multiple is *2.64, though that feels about right.  As to optimal build planetary econ buildouts, I usually go with 1 farm, 1 morale building, 2 factories (to build the stock exchanges faster), sometimes 1 starport (I hate wasting the production capacity of the initial colony square, since it can be very useful for getting a military starbase array up for score-building purposes) and the rest stock exchanges.  The factories may be over-built with stock exchanges once the planet is built out.  Basically, I try to mimic Mumblefratz :).

Thanks for trying to "cushion the blow" SS.;P

And yes I am sortof an emoticon Nazi if you will.}:)

I think for the next while I'll acctually use the classic ones instead.*_*

I wonder if there is a post on these forums about what people want GC3 to be like.;P

Cause I wanna put in my bid for income-based production.*_*

Or at least letting it have a bigger effect on production than it does now.#:(

Speaking of your initials (SS), and also speaking of my emoticon Nazi reference.:|

It is sortof ironic that your initials are SS (you know, as in the Nazi SS).}:)

LOL!!!

Better yet.......

I made one myself.

It's called...

"What Do YOU Wanna See In Gal Civ 3"

It's in the "Game Talk" Section.

Spread the word.

Now that you mention it...

Obviously, it's more of a coincidence than anything else.  I even noticed someone responding to me in another thread mention me as Sole Sole, so that made me laugh.  But if I remember correctly, when I signed up for the forums, both Vision and Threshold, my two most common handles, were taken.

I do believe there's a GCIII idea thread already, but if so it hasn't been posted in in some time (as I haven't seen it on the active list in over a week), so it may be worthwhile to have started a new one.  Hopefully ideas won't be overly duplicated between the two-an inactive thread is no reason to believe Stardock won't pay attention to the views in it-however on the other hand those that are duplicated will obviously be ones that the community really wants, and may therefore have a better chance of being implemented.

For my part, my largest concern at present is that they don't do what they did with DA-->TA, and if they're going to be using racial tech trees in GCIII, as I would expect, that they do so in the initial launch.  I also hope GCIII's tech trees are more balanced, and if possible even more unique (I've even considered the idea of having all races have the same tech tree but unlocking different improvements from them, although this would possibly create some difficulty when you have a new planet join your empire), but I fully expect that to be fleshed out fairly well in whatever betas are run.

:)

Justin, I'm glad you managed to learn something as well from this thread, even though we've gotten a bit off topic.  It feels almost like I've shown Mumblefratz something!  ;)  As I think I stated, the number is only 2.64 to 1 (not a bonus of +2.64 over the 1, of course-you've seen my math, and in fact agreed with it) when a planet without rings is not considered.  While I'm unsure exactly why this is, and don't remember offhand (it's been quite some time) whether the number was higher or lower with rings, I believe it was lower, and this would lead me to believe that rings are not counted for this purpose (i.e., they provide their 10% and that's all).  I'll check on that later, though.

Intresting view on the whole inactive post thing SS.:|

I've chosen Extant (Faora), because I don't know anyone who uses it.

I tried putting it down as my Hotmail username, and I was glad to find out that no one else was using it at all.\o/

And the list goes on.

Oddly enough, Extant is the name of a Hero-Turned-Villain from DC Comics o_O (the guys who came up with Superman:ninja: ).

And Faora, is the name of a Heroine from DC comics (sorta like Poison Ivy, only she's a good guy (gal is more appropriate:S ).

And even more strange, is the fact that I do not own a single DC Comics comic book.o_O

I genuinely thought up the name Extant Faora myself, and my friend (who is also an avid Gal Civer:thumbsup: ) told me that he remembers seeing those two names in some comic books of his (he's a damned collector of the things,   he's not particularly attached to them, so he sells them to real comic book collectors for profit:thumbsup: ).

And about the second half of your post (the one refering to this Justin fella)......

I wouldn't be surprised if Mumblefratz came onto this post with the Wrath of God, thanks to that "It feels almost like I've shown Mumblefratz something!" remark.}:)

I wonder when Mumble will show up on this one anyways.:|   I've noticed that he tends to respond to Economics posts more often than others.;P

Believe me I know, I've read all the way through each of these strategies posts over the course of this past summe:grin: (winter, for those of you who live in Australia:rolleyes: ). All eleven pages of it.   That's when I decided to sign up in August.

And another thing. A great bulk of the responses in here, belong to me.o_O   I'm probably the most avid talker/chater on these forums.   And probably the only one who uses a smiley per sentance.

And yes, we have lost sight of the true purpouse of this post.:pig:   We are way of topic.:jafo:

But we did already answer Ralphander's main question, so I guess it's okay.

But I feel sorry for him.B)   To have to go through all this meaningless nonsense in order to find someone who answered his post usefully after all this time.

It's currently midnight on my side of the world:time: . And I'm piging out on booze, candy, pastries, and red bull.

I'm having a real bad night.:annoyed:

I lit off a bunch of fireworks, and this guy interupts me mid-show, telling me he'll call the cops if I don't stop.X(

FUCKING JACKASS!!!:annoyed:

Villainous thoughts are running through my head as we speak.}:)   Either that, or those are hallucinations caused by too much booze, sweets, and taurine consumption.O:)

I feel a Dizzy Spell coming on.

I'll stop typing now and will go attend to it.:puke:

(Pass Out)x_x

So in other words you can litterally have 100 research points without building any labs on said planet. So if you start making 5 million BC's per turn, you are able to have a class 1 planet dishing out hundreds of research points per turn. So you can research down the entire tech tree in a matter of turns without building any labs.

Nope, nein, nyet, nada-gonna-hapen.

You are either:

  • intentionally trying to misinform
  • start a ruckus
  • using some kind of hack
  • playing a different game

What MAY be happening that could delude you is:

As you are watching your income increase, you are also:

  1. Grabbing research bonus anomolies
  2. Building up research resource starbases
  3. Buidling up economic starbases
  4. Gaining research treaties

Ok, I've read the rest of the the thread now.

Sorry for not realizing this horse was dead.

How can you realize that something is not dead.

You poke it with a stick to check.

It was already lying there so you might as well be absolutely certain that it is indeed dead.
