No Modding Confirmed? Article with the implication.

According to this article, we get:

In a game based on a Warcraft 3 mod, it's a little surprising, though not crushing, to learn that Demigod will not be moddable for online play. The lack of mods does seem to fit with the overall concept of the game--provide a focused, polished version of DotA for the masses.

Is this just an assumption made, a mis-interpretation, or a full out confirmation on no modding?

PS get ear muffs if this turns out to be true, the wailing and gnashing of teeth will be audible continents away...

I hope to god it's just a "assumption made" or a "mis-interpretation" because that would be nearing the last straw for a lot of people.

If you stardock pulls a THQ (which I doubt) how can we rebalance the game? Or what if gpg goes under and theres no one who can update it?

And with some peopels dis-like of low numbers (i.e. demigods) whos to take up the slack? or maps for that matter? What about awsome modes that could be made? (Survival, line wars, tower wars, custom heroes mods, preadetor, ect. I could go on and on) Think of the lost potential.

But then again knowing stardock and gpg being both very modder friendly I doubt it.

Jeez the game hasnt even released, and not even the beta is out and your talking about modding for the masses, Im pretty sure AT SOME POINT ALONG THE ROAD, modability MIGHT be added. But it would surprise me to see no modding support. Most of the games stardock release, and GPG are modable.

Huh. I wanna know where they got that info.

WTB edit.

As far as I can tell people sell to talk about modding and wanting modding more than any in-developement games forum.  For very obvious reasons.

It's based on the SupCom engine, how would this game not be moddable?  I could see it not having mod support at release perhaps, but I don't see why it couldn't be worked on.

It said not for online play..

Like the only online setup or match making blocks em?.. or the writer just means no automatic downloads.

Like I said :P http://forums.demigodthegame.com/322481

I don't think the online setup would block them, because sins just makes you play with a mod folder with the same hash code. I doubt that they'd take such a huge step back.

A rather odd quote, well, considering the companies involved with this game have a known reputation of third-party modification support.  I am going to lean towards something got misinterpeted by the article author and-or someone misinformed the author for the time being, well, till there is clarification

It's likely to be as moddable as Supreme Commander is.

Yay! Supreme commander is easy to mod =)

Wonderful news! Thank you very much for clearing this up.

I really hope they do that. I think the quote is inane for this early and probably based on an assumption.
