Impulse should be used to make modded game hosting easy.

Soo.. Since Impulse is going to be used for match making.

Impulse will be like GPGnet, sort of.  You click the Demigod game in your Impulse games list, and view servers, or host one through there.

Now.. why can't you "publish" mods on Impulse, and use Impulse to download and install the mods simply(along with get information with them) and allow people distributing mods outside of Impulse to easily include some sort of "activator" program that'll activate the mod on impulse under a common name.

Then whenever someone hosts a game with that mod, impulse knows what mod it is, and anyone who wants to join that game gets prompted to download and install the mod before joining?  It would know what mod is being used, and be able to AUTOMATICALLY download and install for people.

It'd fix any bandwidth issues, and I would THINK it'd be easier, and can be applied to any game that wishes to use it (sins of a solar empire would be naother good one.)

And it'd be more appealing than anything I can think of that Impulse could offer me. :/

Hosting a game, people joining and not having the mod, and you telling them to quit, go to some website, install the mod, reload their game, DOES NOT WORK.

Yes this is perhaps the best factor of warcraft 3 there are thousands if not millions of diffrent mods one can play with out even ever hearing of their exsistence. In fact if warcraft 3 survives demigod, then this is going to be the reason why!

(Also when I make my own alternate AoS style games through modding I want it to be able to be hosted with out issuess)

As I plan to make my own entire AoS for demigod (like hosk/doe/aotz are to dota)

I'd love this, it'd be a huge help for modders, and especially people with smallish added content mods.

One thing I'd also love to know is whether having graphics-only minimods (that don't change any game stats) would count as having a different mod so that you can't play with vanilla users. It'd be awesome if graphics mods were completely free to use. (If this is commonly done, ignore the guy talking out his ass).

Well supcom had UI side mods so I'd assume so.

"In a game based on a Warcraft 3 mod, it's a little surprising, though not crushing, to learn that Demigod will not be moddable for online play. The lack of mods does seem to fit with the overall concept of the game--provide a focused, polished version of DotA for the masses."

I want to know how the lack of mods fits in with a game concept.

I'd also like to know how it fits in with the idea of making impulse mod friendly >.>

Because when you were bored of DotA you could play another AoS, play TD's, play hero survival, playing one of the maps where you had a tank or boat where you equiped items to attack with, play M:TG like card games where you had a hero that drew cards which where spells or summons, and the summons spawned and moved to your enemy to attack them?

Because Demigod uses Impulse for it's backend online.

You will find games through impulse to join them.

It means they aren't considering this very much or else you could play a modded Demigod online. :)

This is compulsory if this game wants to achieve a wide success in the long term.
