Gameplay Video at PAX

At last, someone who brought a camera with them at PAX 2008!

Don't get too excited though, it's just 20 seconds, closeup, of Torchbearer casting a spell.

Still enough to let us get an idea about the UI.

Thanks for the link! The fog seems real neat, and it is nice to see the interface, commands going through, etc.

i really dig that UI.

But.. why is there 4 skill slots and not 10?

You can only put 4 of the 10 skills on your bar??

Why isn't there just a string of all 10?

What makes you think there will be 10 skills usable at the same time ?

I don't get why there wouldn't be..

I could understand with making a character build with the skills, but then why be able to max 8 when you can always use 4?

You're supposed to just max 4 of them and use the rest of your points of upping your health/mana/dmg/etc?

Well if your playing as someone like Regulus you probably only max Snipe and dmg or rate of fire(depending on what your options are) Eric(i think) did say a while ago they were having problems balancing Regulus and I imagine thats why. Honestly who is going to use Mines?

yeah but what about Torchbearer? He has 10 activated skills..

I don't know how you can say that whithout having played the game. We should play before saying "this skill is useless" or "I think the best combo is...".

You're right I had forgotten the torch bearer had more than four skills in total.

People will use stun mines to kite.

The normal mine sounds dumb..

Yeay! This means swimming fishies in the background for the underwater arena! Different fog meaning the colors? Because I didn't notice anything special about it, excluding the fact that it's light blue.

Are you hoping for mines? Or is it a confirmed ability?

The Regulas has a damage mine and a stun mine.

On the mines, it was in PAX so thats where they get that from....

There are 4 activate-able abilities a demigod, and each demigod only has 4 activate-able abilities, the rest are passives. Torchbearer is unique in the fact that he has an ability which allows you to use a diffrent set of abilities temporarily. If you read my PAX report you'll see Regulus/rook only have 4 active abilities each... and torch bearer has 8.

The setup of the torchbearer's abilities makes me think that 'relive the immolation' is a really original way of doing what is essentially a magic turbocharge. I like that, even if it makes the fire spells look like copouts because it's a really nifty way of boosting magical firepower. However, I suspect that I won't like regulas' abilities as much, but the beta shall tell. I bet the damage mines are there to defend against creeps though, because stunning them isn't as good as just plain killing them, while the opposite is true for demigods. Just my guess.

Well then, if that's the case, the damage mine is going to be used much more than the stun mine, and I'll make sure you get to know all the uses for it as soon as beta2 is out muhahah. (should've paid more attention the abilities section of your report thread mOoEy)

Huh? They both seem to have their uses. If regulus is as fragile as he seems, he'll need some defense from the more agressive demigods who'll undoubtedly be trying to knock him out of the fight, and the stun mines will do that. If his lines collapse, damage minse should be better. Different tools for different uses, and I bet the beta will bear my speculation out.

The damage mine sounds useless and the stun mine useful to me, not hte otehr way around..

Damage mines sound useful.  Creeps follow a set path, right?  So just put a few on the path and watch them blow up.

Im sure it will not be that easy. And I think the mines will not a lot of bite to them. (I think they wont do a lot of damage)
