Updates are free, you use Impulse to keep the game updated.  If you don't already have it, you can get Impulse here (http://www.impulsedriven.com/).  It's also free.

Once you have Impulse, you just register the game and then you'll be able to just click a button to update.

Sorry to hear that.  Here (https://forums.politicalmachine.com/forum/457) is the section of our forums where you can post about problems with Impulse.  If you let them know what issues you're having, the Impulse devs should be able to get you sorted out.
