I recently purchased and started playing TPM 2008 and I really enjoy the concept. It's good to see a game designed for us political junkies. However I was disappointed to find that, while creating a personalized character, I was only able to choose from the usual Republicrat or Demopublican fare.
I understand the usual arguement: "Well, Libertarian, just where do we draw the line?" "Just how obscure of a party do we need to include?" Yeah, yeah; I hear the same stuff from the FEC during television debate times. But I really feel that for a game like this it would not be unreasonable to look at key indicators:
1) The party must have ballot access in "x" amount of states.
2) The party must have gained "x" amount of votes in the last presidential election.
3) The party platform must have more than 1 plank.
All I'm saying is it would really give a warm-n-fuzzy to us 3rd-party voters (at least the "viable" ones) if we could just once click something...Anything...other than Democrat / Republican / Other.
I'm just sayin'....
