Diamond does not work, all other's do...

Diamond does not work, all other's do...

Using Diamond shows the following taskbar and frame caption buttons:

(Copy the link to the adress bar, I couldn't get it to work with the forum options.)

All other free themes and Gloss Burgundy work without problems.

Anyone any idea?

I haven't had trouble with the diamond theme now for a very long time.  An update to the theme or to Impulse not too long after my post above fixed most of the issues this theme was having.  Scroll through the list of posts here and there are lots of fixes for this issue listed, you just need to take the time to do so.  Good luck on it :)

the Diamond MyColors theme does not load the skin properly, ie task bar, start menu and buttons all come up as multi-colored blocks. Now this is under XP, I have recenty tried the free and registered version, neither loads the skin properly..

Using Vista - No problem..

Seeing that this thread is rather old - one would figure that the issues here would of been addressed or the theme removed.. Since it is also a free theme maybe that is why is has not been corrected or addressed..

But if someone chooses to download that theme first and test it, that may likely be the last download they do..

As it does appear to miss up your computer and turn your whole task bar, menu buttons, start menu into one big fuzzy mess..

It is time to either remove the theme or fix it.. What do you think??

Agreed.  It's a big reason I'm not buying any theme's from stardock.  The theme has yet to be fixed or addressed so I can't justify a purchase of any of their other themes.

Please make sure you have the latest version of MyColors through Impulse.  If this does not help, please e-mail [email protected]

I believe one of the reasons people have issues is due to the various Windowblind authors who use Diamond as "starting point" for their new blinds. I have (more than once) loaded a theme which has borked my install of Diamond becuase the author just modded Diamond and  the install overwrites the "real" Diamond.

The fix for me has been very easy.....delete the Diamond folder altogether and reinstall.

Windowblinds and theme manager are the two programs that will load the diamond skin under XP3

With theme manager it loads a win7 type skin and with windowblinds it will load the vista skin

Now to get those programs you will need to make another purchase - Objectdesktop - although save your cash and dump the theme all togather..

Stardock refuses to correct the issue - and if you read the forums - it is a long standing issue..

I beleive I read that they can't duplicate the issue on thier end.. Go Figure!!

The Reason is very easy to find. I extracted the Installer and tried to load the bmp files for the theme in Photoshop. The Pics inside the installer are invalid.

I tried to download the file several times to exclude a download error.

So I can say, the reason why this theme is not working is: Stardock has made a corrupt install fiile.

Right click to the file - extract with winrar - rename the Diamond.MyColors file found inside the data structure to Diamond.MyColors.zip and extract it. - check the bmp files inside the extracted windows blinds folder and you will see.

frkol - the images are encrypted.

The images are in fact encrypted in this theme, and are decrypted with the activation file for it.  You can add a registration for Diamond to your Impulse account here:

http://www.impulsedriven.com/diamond

This will allow you to activate the theme in MyColors and apply it correctly.

I've gone through the process of "purchasing" Diamond twice, with two seperate serial numbers. I've added the serials succesfully within object desktop/impulse, and applied the theme, but it's still encrypted and therefor garbled when applied. Have I missed a step, or is there something further I must do to make this theme work ?

Diamond is free........

What an old thread that was resurrected here........

Diamond is free........

Yes I know it is. Thats why I put purchase in "quotes".

In order to download the theme, you are required to go through the shop, and "purchase" it for free. They then email the serial number to paste into mycolours. I've done it a couple of times, and I still have an encrypted theme, which is useless.

Shirley spoke of an activation file, but it's certainly not obvious to me how to get it beyond registering the theme. I would have thought it would be automatic ---> "purchase" ---> register ----> download ---> working theme ---> :D

The thread is old, but still there seems to be issues with the theme, so I'm not embarressed to jump in

Sorry - but I did what you told me - but the bmp pics are still corrupt

I purchades the theme via impule - I deleted the Diamond files in the mycolors dir and than I downloaded and installed the theme with impule.

It does not work at all.

Try deleting the theme completly (as before), then open MyColors and click the "Add Registration" button and enter your email and serial number. After downloaded and installed through MyColors, try applying the theme again.

frkol: if you right click the entry for Diamond in Impulse and select "Re-activate" does the same happen?  You may haveto reboot before applying again, and you should apply the default Windows theme and then go back to Diamond.

Did absolutely everything everyone says here and it still doesn't work. I've reinstalled it three times, I've deleted the Diamond forlder and reinstalled, I've uninstalled both MyColors and Impulse and then re-installed, I've rebooted my computer for all of those tries, I've re-registered and rechecked and veryfied up the wazoo and it still comes out as pixelated.

I run a Windows XP SP2 desktop, any clues?

As stated before in this thread - DUMP - this theme for XP as it does not work.... And has always been an issue... Look at the date of this tread...

Stardock still offers it as a free theme - but it does not work properly with XP anymore - But it is free, so what do you expect from them....

You can do a clean install of XP SP2 or XP SP3 - Download and install the Diamond Theme and it still does not display properly!!!!

I also made the mistake of purchasing Object Desktop Ultimate (You get discounted software purchases) at the time I purchased OD it was sold and advertised with 4 free Mycolors themes a year... OD Purchasers have recived 1 free theme in 8 months.. Another rip off as well...

I'm on XP SP3 and the Diamond theme worked perfectly until I applied another theme and then tried to go back to Diamond. Nothing else changed in between. There's no reason there shouldn't be a way to get this theme to work properly on XP.

Everything works fine for me except for the title bars of the applications. Windows opened within those apps look fine. For instance, the title bar in Outlook is not correct according to the Diamond theme but e-mails opened within Outlook display correctly.

Conversationpc, can you please provide a picture of what you are seeing so that we can better troubleshoot?

Same problem here! I just have installed MyColors with Diamond theme and i see graphic corruption no matter how many times i had installed it. I run Win XP Pro SP3 and this is a shame, if the free version doesn't work as it supposed to, how someone is going to trust this product and pay for it?
