Diamond does not work, all other's do...

Using Diamond shows the following taskbar and frame caption buttons:

(Copy the link to the adress bar, I couldn't get it to work with the forum options.)

All other free themes and Gloss Burgundy work without problems.

Anyone any idea?

Can't help, but you are doing better than I get, Diamond will not load at all for me.

Glad to hear someone else is having the same problem as I am. I get the fuzzy taskbar/minimize/maximize/close icons as well. I hope to hear something cause diamond is the only MyColors Theme that is simple and clean enough to consider using, but the graphics problems are really annoying.

I get all the diamond except the task bar won't change at all for me on that one, always stays on whatever one I had previously chosen :/ All the rest seem ok other than I'm still trying to figure out why the desktop icons won't show clear background rather than some off color that looks yucky on them all lol. I'll search on that and post about it somewhere else too.

I thought I would add to this too. I just was having the same trouble. No problems with Earth, the new Gloss Burgundy or Quest (I 2 of the three after Diamond). I can apply the wallpaper and icon package, but no windowblind. I tried deleting and re-installing several times, but no luck. I can't even apply the windowlblind through the windowblind program (not using the MyColors interface.

I am running XP with all updates through impulse.

In the "for what it's worth" catagory:

I gave up and restored the previous (4/21/08) MyColors version of Diamond I had backed up prior to installing Impulse.

I had tried uninstalling via Impulse and manually deleting the related theme folders (WB, Icons - Impulse only deleted the .mycolors file) as well as doing an Explorer search on Diamond*.* and deleting all of the related files that turned up, then re-installing via Impulse, still no go. Tried deleting through MyColors and manually deleting folders and files and re-installing via Impulse, still no go. Deleted again, tried to install via MyColors, couldn't get a download.

Said the heck with it, "installed" again via Impulse (or else Impulse won't know it's installed), but didn't "run" (load or extract) it. Manually deleted the newly downloaded .mycolors file from the Themes folder, copied my backed up previous .mycolors file over to there. "Ran" it via Impulse, worked like a charm. Impulse and MyColors don't know the difference, don't know there's a newer version out there.

Maybe support could get you the previous MyColors theme version? WWW Link

On XPHomeSP3, current Win/Impulse/MyColors/WB/etc. Just did all this tonight.

And maybe, but I haven't tried this:

I see the diamond file that is downloaded from the Stardock page WWW Link about halfway down is a filesize of 28,912 which is the same size as my old version which works. The Impulse version that is coming down is 28,916. So maybe the Stardock page file is the same as the working one I have?

You might try deleting the WB theme via WB Config (better than just deleting the folder I think), deleting the Icon Packager Diamond theme folder, and just replacing the Themes Diamond.mycolors with the Stardock page file. I really don't know if the extra Explorer search and delete was really helpful.

Don't know, no guarantees.

I have had problems with Diamond too... When I go to "My Computer" the backround is dark grey instead of white. Any ideas?

So now there is a an update for Diamond showing on Impulse, but when I go to update it it says it doesn't have registration info for it.  This theme came with MyColors and/or Object Desktop (I can't remember which) and I don't have a separate serial number for it...  How do I update it?

Hey the last Impulse update of Diamond, the one with the serial number, fixed this for me.  I did delete the WB theme via WB and the .mycolors file before I installed the new one, in case it matters.

Thanks for tweaking it, Stardock.

In Windows vista I was looking into the domand theme folder and I saw fuzzy pictures that looks like snow on a TV.

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\ThemeManager is the folder.

Those are encryted images. All MyColors Themes are encrypted,at least for now. The WindowBlind should look ok,though.I just checked mine,non-encrypted. Does it look ok in the WB config. preview?

Is this a MC theme,or did it come with WindowBlinds?

Well, I just downloaded Diamond before checking this out. Instead of a normal taskbar/tray it is an assorted rainbow. Also on windows which have the minimise and close button, you can't see these options. They are just another rainbow blurr.

Apart from that I haven't found anything else wrong, I'm using WIndows XP at the moment aswell. Mr. Diamond obviously doesn't like us.

I just wanted to add that I too am experiancing the same problem with Diamond as everyone else. My icons, desktop and even some of the graphics appear just fine, but the task bar, X, _ and window resize buttions, along with a few other things is a large assortment of rainbows (is it not reading the encrytion right?) Maybe there is a set reason? I'm using Windows XP with AMD Athlon 64 Processor, 3800+.

And BTW, I have tried all 4 free skins and Diamond seems to be the only one giving me problems (And yet it's the only skin I really want to use.)

Did you install from Impulse? There is more than one link to Diamond. I do not remember which I used to get a good version.

This one is from the MC products page.LINK

And this one from Impulse Driven LINK

It took me a couple of installs to get a working version as well. The one that came with MyColors also did not display correctly. You may want to uninstall it,then try to download from  either link above. Diamond was problematic, but it will install correctly if you keep trying.

I used to have luck with the MyColors product page link version.

Also, after you use either MyColors or Impulse to uninstall the version you have installed now, the actual Windowblinds files will remain.  Manually delete them before you install the other Diamond version, either through WindowBlinds configuration delete or through Windows Explorer.  You might have to manually delete the MyColors theme file as well, I don't remember if it remains or not.

Tried installing Diamond several times from both links (as mentioned above), manually deleted fiels after isntallation, etc. etc...

Still no luck, does anyone have any idea how to get it working properly?

I have the exact same problem, and i've tried everything already written.. is there another way to make it work ?

I would really like to have it.. It's the only one I like 8O

It is a skin that I habitually use, but have had problems with it on and off.  However, this is the reply I obtained from Stardock Support and it has worked:

"Set the theme to something other than Diamond for the time being.

Make sure MyColors is installed correctly by verifying it with Impulse. To do so:

-Launch Impulse. Right click on the entry for MyColors and choose "Verify application"
-Impulse will check the integrity of the installed application. You should be given feedback as to the state of the installed application.
-If errors are found, an update should be made available in Impulse. You'll need to select another application and then reselect the original application to run the update.
(NOTE: This is a UI bug in Impulse, that should be fixed in a future update)
-Once the update completes, reboot your PC and try running the application again.
-Repeat this process for WindowBlinds
-Apply the Diamond theme again"

Good luck

It's still don't work and I'm going to try again this week.

"-Repeat this process for WindowBlinds"

Just a quick question, do we need to buy WindowsBlinds or is it installed with "My Colors" ?

Because I only use free themes and I don't want to use cash for this :-)

No,WindowBlinds isn't needed for MyColors to work. You just cant adjust the themes to your preference.

I am writing again as it is over a year later and still have not gotten Diamond to work. I have tried everything on this forum. I have tried about 5 different computers as well at this stage. I am surprised anyone has gotten this to work considering I have not once ever seen it right. I know this is a free theme, but seems far better than any of the pay ones. Considering the comments about encryption, I can only think that there is a problem encrypting/decrypting the files. Does Stardock even know there is still a problem? They usually produce exceptional software, so I am surprised this is still outstanding.

I am having the same problem with Diamond.  I wanted to try a free version before buying MyColors themes and Object Desktop.  With the Diamond theme having so many problems, I am not exactly willing to buy any of the software at the moment.  Why is this theme so problematic?  Are there any more things to try besides what this post has listed, since none of the above suggestions have worked.
