Object Desk 2009 Suggestions

Hmmm, just getting really comfortable with the 2008 version.  :SURPRISED: 

Since I've just started using Stardock Virtual Desktop can an option be added that you can set or control DX widgets and objects or even ObjectDock to only appear on one or mulitple desktops? Or to put it another way can the desktops in SVD be totally independent of each other?   

Is there any possiblity to be able to have 3D effects in WB or throughout the software programs. Maybe the capability to push or move open windows into the background and then bring them forward. I think this option would really work great within WindowsFX.

It shows up under ObjectDesktop on my system. And I agree that would be a great feature. I've fired up SVD a couple times but then not used it for long. I'd use it alot with that functionality.

Also I know there is a big thread (Here) with alot of great suggestions for ObjectDock.

OD isn't part of ODNT though.

Very true Bebi, but the option I'm suggestion would be in SVD to independly set desktop items by desktop.   

Place adding new stuff to WB and SKS on hold, fix what is broke to the best of your ability.. start adding new stuff again.

Absolutely.

I do have a suggestion for WB: the Colorize section. If you want to recolor a skin that only has a few colored bits (Black by zer0, WTM, etc) the "preview" in the colorize section doesn't show *any* of the actual pieces of the skin that use color. It would be helpful to show ALL states of the taskbar buttons, since those are usually colored in skins, along with titlebar buttons.

Being able to change a specific color in an iconpackage instead of recoloring the entire icon would be nice.

Don't discontinue/forget RightClick would be my greatest wish.

A killer new GUI \drag and drop.. for skinning latest Windows Media Player.

PSD support for Skinstudio... PLEASE!!

Ability to take\make promotional screenshots of all main elements of a WB in a structured , complete fashion from within SKS.

Ability to click on a preview to navigate thru SKS instead of using tree. ( If not, re-organize\alphabetize treeview to be easier to navigate)

An efficient bug reporting system for SKS\WB w\ feedback.

In DesktopX I would love to see an option to have all labels to be transparent, and to have it remain so when exported as a widget. Now when I make all labels magic pink so they don't show. When you export as a widget they come back....bummer. Also would love to see as much as feasilbe, some more built in scripts. Also, nicer clock hands, or a way to edit the default ones in more depth, rather than just color and size. How about the ability to import external images as the hands without all the extra graphic work. Does that make sense?

Give us a version of Enhanced File Dialog for Vista! I severely miss that!

EFD is awesome.

This could work well with the future release of Windows 7 and the touch screen. You could add features to work with how it is used in the touch environments. With additional features to make it work with other new features coming in IE8 and FF3.

Multi-Monitor controls that work with Windowblinds

• Compiz-like tool - http://compiz.org/Home/Screenshots
• A DX framework that uses WB skins (so my DX clock or calendar or whatever would use the WB skin)
• Icon organization on the desktop
• An expose'-like app - none that I have tried work well enough to use regularly.  I'd love to see all non focused apps be grayed out
• A mouse gesture app
• OB and RC skinning using WB back in place

With Alpha blending. A newb-level skinning app to allow us to skin Impulse. I know there's a way and I'll have to edit the Skin\Images files, but that doesn't help the average newb :LOL: Umm...coffee.

Theme Manager needs to change to more Appts. Good look for 2009.

I'd like to see ObjectDock Plus as part of the OD suite. But that's just me. :o Zubaz linked to a page full of Compiz screenshots. One thing that has always bugged me is the fact that Microsoft did not take after the Compiz project. While it's good that they are now using the 3D card to do all the window drawing and compositing, it just pales in comparison to what Compiz is capable of doing. Ever since having used it myself, I've been hooked on it. Having Compiz-like effects and window manager would do wonders to how Vista is used. I loved how their Alt-tab worked compared to Vista's pitiful version. It's a long-shot but Stardock has the chance at this time to kick Vista's terrible Desktop Window Manager and replace it with an entirely new, different, and Compiz-like alternative. It may obsolete a few things (virtual desktop and WindowFX) but you can always set a price because of the work it entails. And I'd be first in line to snatch up a copy of such a product.

Yes! It would be really great! And this will save a lot of my time.

Several months age I have done a simple WB Skin reader that allow me to extract some parts of installed skin like window borders, buttons, etc... to apply them into the widgets through object.picture. Seems it works. However I have a problem with observing for image margins and applying them correctly. Now I stopped this project because I have not enough time to finish it. So I'll be happy if Strdock's DX developers will make this Instead of me. I can be very lazy sometimes...

FULLY VGA HARDWARE ACCELERATED AND NEW FEATURES LIKE STACKS DOCKLETS, EXIT WINDOWS AND FULL SUPPORT FOR TRAY ACCTIONS AND ICONS BOTH XP SP3 AND VISTA. 2) ON ICONPACKAGER 4.0, PLEASE MAKE A FULL WIDE CACHE ICON AN COTROL OF IT, BECAUSE AFTER A WHILE OF ADDING CUSTOM ICONS AND EXTENSIONS, THE ICONS LOST ON WINDOWS RESTART, IM FULLY AWARE THIS IS BECAUSE A POOR ICON CACHE, IN VERSION 3.2 WAS A MAXIUM OF 8MB, IN VERSION 4.0 THERE IS NO APPAREANCE OF CACHE IN OPTIONS, I ASSUME THAT'S THE SAME 8MB, SO PLZ MAKE IT 64MB OR MORE!.
