Why would anyone use Windowblinds?

I don't want to start any trouble, but all this talk of 'Premium skins' is just rediculous. I think Windowblinds is old, buggy, and outdated, but thats just my opinion. Back in the old days of Win 9X, I hailed Stardock as a saviour that changed the horrendous way my computer looked, but with the advent of modern OS like Vista, it's a totally unecessary waste of my time. Windowblinds has always been a bugfest, but now, it doesnt even have a skin that matches the elegance and class of the native Windows GUI. To make matters worse, a subscription at Wincustomize doesn't even seem to give you anything. Its like, ok, pay us 20 bucks and then anything worth trying will cost you another $5 a pop. For someone who is quite happy with the Vista GUI, I say let someone else pay that. The only Stardock product I have any use and praise for is Object Dock. The free version is really amazing and it does everything I need so I didnt pay the 20 bucks, but if there were any indications of future development I would be supportive of it.

If you took just the 120,000+ downloads on just the 9 most popular skins in just the last 30 days...I would venture to say that you might be a bit of a lone wolf in your opinion of Windowblinds being "old and buggy". As for the $20 for a WC subscription, I think the majority who have forked over the dough would agree it's worth it and it shows in the number of people who re-up when their sub runs out.

The basic rule of os customization is: If you like it, do it; if you don't, don't.

I happen to like WB, and think that it is not only a great program, but a way to express some creativity. It's mostly about expression and art--but you are definitely entitled to your opinion. Our individual opinions are what make us unique.

I will agree about ObjectDock, but I will take it a bit further and say that multiple and tabbed docks are a major boost to my gui look and my work productivity. Plus is definitely worth it.

I can really disagree with that. While Aero is much better than Luna, it's not all that great and I prefer the flexibility to change the desktop without being stuck with one look. Have you tried any skins recently to base all these opinions on?

So, explain why it was important for you to make this post.

Surely the fact you feel that the members of the community are wasting their money isn't enough for anyone to make this post. If you don't like WindowBlinds, or no longer see the purpose in it, why come back and make a post?

What really is the purpose of the post and your bottom line? Just to be heard? Or could it be that you want to somehow make it known that you like 'free versions' of software.

I would like you to justify your 'old, buggy' and 'bugfest' claims. Can't wait to hear what you have to say. I've been running Windowblinds for five years and very rarely found any issues. I suspect this post is just 'troll bait' but if you are serious........put up or shut up!

heh., realy? go to deviantart.com and look for all the Vista clones.., you can get at least 100 variations of the aero Windows defoult skin.

I dont realy get why people do that.., clonning and ripping the same style is odd., i do like to have options but lets put it like this: 3 skins that are basicaly the same one but with minor changes are ok, having 10 are way too much, but more than 20 is madness!

Now about the issue that WB is a bugfest; well, if you have a poor pc with less than 500Mb of ram it may get a bit slow or if a program is crashing couse WB is running, my friend, there is a option to prevent that over the WB settings..., its a matter of what kind of "bug" you are talking about...

If you are happy with Vista aero skin, then enjoy it.., some others dont and i'm one of them
