Confirm, don't deny, that John Comes will do a little voice acting =]

So I was randomly thinking today, how about a little easter egg for us that have been around long enough supporting you guys to know what the easter egg would mean?

How about getting John Comes to voice act for one of the demigods and include the phrase "... cannot confirm nor deny ...".

Maybe such a thing would be hard to work into a sensable voiceover for a Demigod.  If nothing could be thought up, how about an occasional "Confirmed" when you issue a movement command or something like that, and "Denied" occasionally when you kill someone?

Haha, that is a great idea ^_^ We need our Scathis with us, always.

./cough what about multiple-click "easter-egg" emotes? You know, like Warcraft/SC had.

id say have him do the phrases when you kill another Demigod

"killing spree"
"double kill"
"triple kill"
"dominating"
"wicked sick"
"god-like"

and any others

and to make it even more appealing, "god-like" would fit in with the game's storyline ;)

Lol, at the end of the campaign John Comes/Scathis/The all-father's voice comes out of nowhere saying "YOU HAVE WON THE TOURNAMENT!" then the UT announcer screams "GAWWWWWD LIKE"

LMAO!
Damn why didn't I think of that?!

But I think ripping off UT's announcer would be baddd. Tons of mods for games, and wc3 maps, and other thigns incorporate a straight rip of the UT announcer.
It's a GREAT voice.
They're GREAT "taunts".
But they're for UT..

But a Godlike would be nice still when you go on a killing spree. :P No need for any others..

or a more cheezy "DEMIGOD-LIKE!"

True, the UT voice is UT's. I love what it adds to the game though. The elation it gives that player, and the absolute bloodlust it gives the opposing players. UT made it work because the entire tournament was just that, a tournament with onlookers, fans, announcers etc.

To make something appropriate for Demigod, you would need to have the forces of nature recognize the asz whooping thats going on. For example, you get 3 kills and you start to glow (no in game effect, just visual). You get 5 and lightning shoots across the arena. 10 and a crack of thunder shakes the stage (again just visual), 15 and it looks like your about to ascend (lightning issuing from your glowing Demigod, a God Ray spotlighting you (subject to fog of war of course), power overwhelming).

I <3 these ideas.

Visual effects for someone who got some kills in a row would be nice :)

I was thinking about a special visual effect, for when you kill another demigod. This takes it to another level I didn't think about. Great idea! I'll take a look at seeing what we can add for this. No promises on how grand it will be, but I'll at least get something cool for this event.

Instead of the god-ray being hidden by the fog of war.. why not have it shown? :D

Get 15 kills in a row could have it where everyone can see you through the fog of war, making your kill streak harder to continue. =] (That, or attracts people to you for you to smash :P)
Of course it'd go away if you died.

I think Odit's idea is great as well. Just imagine being on the opposition seeing that glowing Demigod coming towards you, it would put the fear of ...ahem... god in you...

With regards to innociv's idea, I don't think the god-ray being revealed regardless of the fog war is the best idea, as you can tell at all times where one of the Demigod's are in a game. Just imagine if you could tell where a Commander was at all times in a Supcom game, that would be a huge tactical advantage.

That.. was what I was saying. Point was that it gives everyone else a huge tactical advantage.
It makes someone who's gotten tons of kills in a row a target.
He wouldn't be able to gank people anymore.

Well we will just have to agree to differ on opinions here, I think providing that kind of mechanic is too much of a tactical advantage to the other team.

On a different train of thought, but similar idea, I would really like to see a lot more focus on sound bites in this game. By this I mean quotes that the demigods make when engaging in different actions like fighting or casting spells, etc. The lack of quotes in Supcom, while appropriate as most of the units are robots, was a little underwhelming considering some of the humour you can have in other games (starcraft, C&C series, etc). Would this be possible, or would this take too much time away from other more important work?

Yes.. after someone has gotten 15 kills in a row, without dying, and it goes away when they die.
Not that i'd rage if it was hidden by fog of war. I think think it'd be neat if it weren't. As I said.. he was talking about having a god ray shine on someone when they got FIFTEEN KILLS IN A ROW. That's not 15 kills total, that's 15 kills without dying once from the first kill to the 15th.
Someone that can get 15 kills in a row in a game like this maybe needs a little hindrance is what I was saying.

I loved Dawn of War Orkz quotes btw. :P
I'm not sure DEmigod will have em. No soundbytes can be better than bad ones. Demigod is being made by a small team.

I don't think soundbytes for all units is needed, but soundbytes for the Demigods would be nice.(as in, exclude the minotaurs, angels, catapultasauruses, woodfolk, etc, but do them for The Rook, Queen of Thorns, etc.)

The other thing is that Demigod is an RPG-RTS, not an RTS. In RTS you're commanding units, so they talk when you give them ORDERS. In an RPG, YOU ARE the character, you aren't giving the orders but you are PLAYING AS the character. Why would you talk to yourself?
So maybe it's isntead the minotaurs that should talk when you give them orders, but not your General.

Anythign regardless of how difficult to obtain will eventually be obtained by players, getting punished for getting 15 consecutive kills without dying is my idea of a bad day.

I like the idea of visual effects, things that have no effect on gameplay are fine, but anything that alters the competitive atmosphere, is a bad decision.

You likely got rewarded with lots of gold and xp for getting all those kills and not dying. :/ Unless the "rewards" don't work that way.

What I liked about the UT announcing was the pride with which it infused the player, it makes me think the makers of the game subconsciously were thinking about seeing how people would play with a big ego, plummeting so quickly from the summit they so skillfully reached.

As soon as you get something like "MEGA KILL!" or "WICKED SIIICK" you feel fucking invincible, especially if you're in a small server it's the feeling of "I just killed between 1/3 of their whole team/their whole team within seconds of each other, and this guy with a cool voice agrees with me in that he thinks I'm pretty cool, too, so I think I can handle the 3 guys guarding this node in onslaught" At that point you get nubbed by minispam and mines.

IT'd be neat if the Minotaurs got scared of you if you where pwning really hard. :p

But that'd probably just make it easier. ;[

I love the idea of visual effects :D lol at the heaven light around your demi-god after 15 kills. The UT announcer would just make me crack up while playing if it was in demigod. I don't think WICKED SICCCKK would come from the all father.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the effect on certain general's units, depending on the unit, like those one autonomous looking fellows with crossbow arms probably are incapable of fear, but some of the more organic minions would probably run away in fear at the death of their bold commander.

the visual effect can also be good on non-demigod units and not just visual. lets say you have general demigod that one of his abilities is when his group of minotaurs get a large steak of kills he hes the abilite to lighten them on fire and cause alot of damege.

overall great idea

They should gain a certain bonus for the 'killing spree'.

Each Demigods would be different, an Assassins, perhaps would be bonus damage and a Generals could be damage aura.

But I'd like the Annoucement of "HOLY SH!T !!!"

I like those.

I'll reiterate this again, Anything that rewards external modifiers for a kill streak or any tangible bonus will ruin competitive play.

The main reason:

The Slippery Slope. If your enemy gets kill streak on you/your team and is rewarded a damage bonus or a Gold income multiplier/increase or anything that directly or indirectly relates to an advantage will cause you to fall farther and farther behind until ultimately you lose.

Map control in most RTS games is a prime example of this, and as I assume Demigod will feature some form of map control, having more things add to the Slope is a very bad idea. It would make your comeback chance virtually non existent.
