@ JoHBe

Since your "boxed" version will be version 1.0 and we're currently running version 1.05 you will need to visit www.impulsedriven.com and download IMPULSE stardock's new distribution system in order to get updated as well as to receive future updates and patches.

I purchased the CE (collector's edition) on Feb 4th/08 (as I also like to "hold a box") but I used SDC (the distribution system being replaced by Impulse) to download and install SINS and keep it up-to-date.

Future game patches/updates will not be available as stand-alone patches, so you might as well install Impulse now.

:)

thanks,

the Monk

Impulse hasn't been working very well for me. It won't let me update some games that Stardock Central will.

Same problem here.

If anyone is having Impulse issues, please post about them in the Impulse forum or contact support so the devs can get your issues fixed.

So with final v1.1 coming in mid-July I assume the Beta should be distributed very soon now? It's already a close schedule incorporating Beta feedback in a few days only..

Thank you for the reply the Monk :CONGRAT:

Still wondering whether future games or add-ons will be buyable in stores ?

Additional question I have is, can I install the latest patch without having to install the previous ones ?

If so, which is the latest patch.

Thanks for any assistance ladies and gents  :)

A DEV will need to answer your question about future games and/or expansion-pack in-store availability.

As to the latest patch. It is version 1.05 and yes you can simply update your retail version (1.0) to the latest (1.05).

There will be a beta-test starting soon for patch version 1.1 (this however is not a mandatory patch at this time)

thanks,

I think they meant the beta would start mid-July, and the actual patch will come out in the end of summer.

I just realized... we are back to a beta on this game. All the work that was put into making a great game and what happened?

Guess it goes to show that even with great talent, appropriate resources and sufficient time; even the best can get it messed up.

On the bright side, at least StarDock and Ironclad are fixing it and doing so out in the open, as opposed to how so many other companies deal with things like this.

So even with this thing basically broken for the time being, their reputation is intact. At least in my eyes.

Er, what exactly are you talking about? Nothing is broken, they're doing a beta to basically stress test the net code, since it's a major change.
How exactly is it broken?

As I see it, they're looking to make it better with such a major change, that they're using a beta to make sure the change doesn't break anything.

Did anyone see that it said we now will have 9 caps per race instead of 5?

No, that only meant that the capital shipyard has been fixed so that modders can add more capships if they like (previously, it would only show five options and no buttons could be added on the bottom row).

1 more day of mid-july!

A Saturday no less. I'm rather expecting it sometime next week.

Considering I have an essay to write, it's probably good for me for the patch to be a bit later.

Will it be possible to download this 1.1 Beta patch without having Impulse? I ask this because when I try to start Impulse it doesn't work.

Thanks.

well it would be nice if instead of hearing noughting like every game they told us what was happening. like expect it in the next couple of weeks or it may be delayed by a week or so rather than a few weeks after the date and they say due to tech difficult it will be realized next month like ea and relic are at the moment.

Stardock, if you were planning on releasing it so late, why didn't u just tell everyone late July, that way if u actually hit the goal everyone could be happy and surprised.

This way, I'm waiting, impatiently, for the effing beta to come out!

Or you could have told us late july, and released it early, making us even happier!!

Or maybe they were planning on mid-July and something came up. Better to have something that works a bit late than something that doesn't work now.
Yeah, better to be late, than buggy...
EA...I'm looking at you...
