Are the TEC, future Humans?

my guess would be that the TEC are the result of generations of industrialization. The earlist generations polluted Earth and left it behind.

That's probably right about the pollution thing... unless maybe we find a way to make pollution harmless.

Tech r human exiles like in dark reighn (although u prolly havent heard of that) they were moved to colonize other planets when actully they were ex-cons and crimnals that earth was getting rid of cause of crowding

Wow, my first instincts about this post was "Oh my god, what a noob" then i read some of the replies and the explanation and then I felt bad about the whole "noob" thing.

How does Earth fit into this, well, i would imagine that as soon as Phase travel became available Humans fled the squalid conditions and overpopulation of earth to colonize other, nearby worlds. Then I imagine earth became much like Europe became after the new world (the Americas) was discovered -like what Africa became after human's first began to immigrate around the globe (no one really considers Africa to be their homeland anymore, other than those who still live there).

The central planets became the ones in the center of the colonies, which doesn't necessarily imply they are grouped around earth, they could be a bit closer to the galactic core, where there are more stars to colonize.

Basically what I'm saying is earth still exists by that name, but it is overlooked either because of pollution or because it's no longer the center of the human empire. there is also a chance that is one of the central planets, but not the central central planet. I say this because if earth was still a central planet it would probably be mentioned.

Aside from being mentioned in some fan submissions in passing, Earth is never mentioned. Naeve is however. Maybe thats that capitol in the future?

If you want to fit the story into ours:

I think both tec and andvent are descendants of the human race of "earth".

Fact is Tec would be the one still dominating it since they exiled the advent. And in that case earth could still be one of their main planets or just massively polluted. Both explain why you never find it on maps... It's A) Too deep inside Traders space to be in the frontline and would have to be here your hw it's automaticly fortified. or IT'S TOTALY USELESS.

More than likely, Earth would be one of the "Central Worlds," but I doubt that it would be the Capital...  Naeve may well be the capital...  Probably, after phase space, it became more of a tourist spot than a place to live...  People moved elsewhere to live and went to Earth on vacation...

I highly doubt that earth name would ever be used, cause what if you start a random player game and you don't get tec, would your homeworld be another planet name or earth which doesn't make sense, and besides, if you put earth there, you have to put the solar system there also.

or perhaps earth is gone, either destroyed or completely uninhabitable, a la isaac azimov. or people have forgotten that it was humanity's birthplace. truth is, we have no idea, we can only speculate. i would imagine that earth would have no role in any future campaign, based on the tenor of the game. supreme commander, for instance, the UEF is fighting to save humanity. no such noble intentions in this game

Ummm...TEC is fighting to save themself. I say they think its noble. Its do or die.

the Advent probably think what they are doing (getting revenge on the TEC for their exile) is noble. But it pales when compared to what the TEC are doing.

As for the Vasari, as much as I like the Vas, they are just trying to save their own skins.

its not noble. it might be heroic, but its not noble. there is a distinction there. humanity in sins is not connected through anything but trade. and survival, i guess. in supcom, humanity is united. there is something noble in that, that is not found in sins.

at least, thats the way i see it. i tend to have odd views on these kind of things. feel free to disagree

The TEC had a millina of prospartity and peace. They must of been united for that to happen. Its only now that the Vasari and Advent come busting down the door are they fighting. Even then the TEC are united in their cause to survive. Heroic and Noble IMHO. I dont consiter the Advent human. They have progressed far beyond that with their experements and drugs.

I guess its all in how you look at it.

Well, the TEC brought the Advent down upon themselves.  TEC literally went jihad on them (Ironic, seeing as to how the Advent now are).  Reading the lore, it seems as if the TEC had quasi-religious objections to Advent practices.  They then exiled them from their homeworld.  If ranking the races on 'nobility of the cause', I'd rank Advent at the top, TEC second, forced relocations are not noble, and the Vasari third, being slavers and all.

Well everyone has their faults. Granted force exile is not a noble or nice thing. But even so, the Advent have no reason to purge all of the TEC. Even if they want their homeword back. Fine, but most now a days had nothing to do with the exile. Really in all honesty, given the story I say true noblility and honor is lost at this point. All faction have their dark stains.

Perhaps, but the lore is rather vague as to the Advent's full intentions towards the TEC. 

They believed that their destiny was to exact retribution and assume their rightful place in the galaxy. One thousand years later, when it became clear that the rare and precious resources that empowered their unique way of life approached exhaustion, the society unanimously decided to return their original home and fulfill their prophecies.

Sigh, I wish we had more lore.

As an aside, my posts may come off as argumentative when that is not my intent.  I just like debating.

Tell me about it! More lore would be a plus.

Guess we can only guess. Thats the hard part about debating lore, or creating fan based lore to tie into the tiny tiny ammount of Lore the game gives us. Its a problem we been having when trying to create a Lore based/ Role Playing Leauge.

they were united by trade, not by any sense of higher connection, IMO

thats what i said when i first read the description. as opposed to a story like supreme commander, where all three sides are sympathetic and the human one maybe even the least sympathetic (sorry to keep making references to supcom, but its basically the only other rts ive played)

Vaild point about the trade but then again we dont know if there was great unification some time in the past that the current lore doesnt explain. We know too little to say yeh or nay about any of the races.

Yeah UEF was trying to unite all of humanity but they were doing it by force. (If you want to use the supcom reference) Not noble to force unification upon a group of ppl who want freedom and rights beyond what UEF would give them.

so like i said, they were probably the least sympathetic. we definitely need more lore. that would probably come if and when they make a campaign

maybe its because the war it would be a main target because its the tecs home

or just dosent have the refinery's they want
