shown on that channel about a month ago states that if we all were to just vanish from the planet it would bounce back from all we have done to it in less than 1000 years and remove most evidence of our existance in 10000 years. If they show it on tv it must be true. Right.

Besides, clearly it isn't like we couldn't possibly be incorrect, you know clearly scientists couldn't just be seeing short term changes in temperature (i.e. the global cooling scare of the 1970's).

Also, Solar activity may have a far higher effect on the temperature than CO2, the correlation is far stronger. Also, as for Co2 being the main greenhouse gas, Nitrous oxide (something that cows are responsible for 65% of) warms the planet 296 times more than CO2. (Many of these facts are taken from the book An Inconvenient Book by Glenn Beck, which is quite a good read)


Anyway, please for god's sake don't use TV shows for your sources. global warming is a constant cycle that we are just pushing along with using more and more fossil fuels and pumping CO2 into the atmosphere. this then heats up the earth as the CO2 traps more heat, melting ice caps and breaking down nature's natural CO2 sinks and killing tons of animals in the process. increased planet temps. warm the ocean's waters, killing coral which supply much of the planet's biodiversity and also causes glaciers to melt much faster. the increase in temp. also causes CO2 trapped in ice to be released, thus continuing global warming. the increase in temp. also causes desertification, killing of plants that would otherwise convert CO2 into O2 but now just add to the CO2 by decomposing. this would cause severe problems as the warming could kill the Amazon rain forest, which supplies much of the world's oxygen and biodiversity as well, and would not come back due to the lack of rich soil in the area (permanent destruction). but nature tends to fix itself, increasingly hostile climate change will also kill of humans, thus reducing CO2 and after some thousands of years when the human pop. is vastly reduced (thousands of years is minuscule in the earth's time line) , the environment should patch itself up again eventually as it has always done

we all know when the earth was made right...4.6 billion years ago we also know when it will end in 5 billion years when the sun eplodes but it is possible that it will not if we are still alive as a race of humans we may have enough tech to save the earth or maybe even stop the sun from eploding but we could be light years away on another earth-like planet so some of you might think this is stupid but this will happen and god knows if we will live....

IF the temp. does rise enough the ocean currents that supply warmth to the northern hemisphere will be interupted. the chain reaction of increases temp. that qsik mentioned is not possible becuase with the currents disrupted heat will no longer be circulated to the north. resulting in a mini ice age (numerous mini ice ages do dominate our recent history). the tropics regions however will heat up significantly becuase of the heat staying there rather than being transfered to the north via the currents. the result will be increased storms which will increase in intisity. it wont take long though for the global climate to balance back out and humanity has survived this type of change before (without climate control devices)

this cycle is just that...a cycle of life. it is enevitable. however we may speed it up or try to slow it down, or try in vein to stop it. IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN...

I seriously cannot understand why most of the world seems to hate the USA. We aren't the super-rich, have-everything-we-could-ever-want people that many seem to think we are. Me and my family struggle to pay our rent every month, and after we have bought necessities, we only have like $2 that we can save. Now, I won't say that we experience anything like many countries do, such as extreme hunger and oppression. But, due to the high standard of living in the USA, many have a difficult time from becoming homeless, or completely impoverished. And as for pollution, America only produces about 39%, which is still a lot, but we are taking steps to try and lower that number. Currently, China is the largest producer on the planet. Oh and by the way, I am going to move to Japan as soon as I possibly can. I really don't care too much for the good ol' USA. It is becoming too corrupt in my opinion.
