IconPackager v4.0 Release Support Thread

IconPackager v4.0 Release Support Thread

Please use this thread for IconPackager v4.0 Support Issues

All,

With IconPackager v4.0 being released tomorrow, I am creating this thread to house support for the newly released product.

At this time there are no known issues for either 32-bit or 64-bit.

For all of those who have reported and tested issues on 64-bit we thank you for your time and support.

Regards,

Zargon

IconPackager 4 is only being delivered through Impulse or the standalone installer.  You can download Impulse from this page:
http://www.impulsedriven.com/about.asp
Or download it from the link on your registrations page.

thats not really fair since impulse doesn't have all the funtionality of SDC yet.

My 2 very old (and unrelated) ones that are closed is displayed in the "View Tickets", but not the two I mentioned.
I must say I haven't found an update that fixes the IP bugs (still showing 4.00.168), and even so, shouldn't the ticket still stay put (with the status: Closed), not just deleted?

Yes in most cased the ticket that had a "Pending issue" like the Icon Packager problem would be reserved. What we do is take the ticket, answer telling you that we know about the issues and we are contacting the developer for help, putting it in a pending status until the fix is in, or setting it to the side to provide more info for the developers on the nature of the bug.... and so on and so forth. In most cases your tickets should read as "escalated" instead of "closed". Now if you can give me some ticket IDs, PM me the email address you used, or anything else I will do my best to track them down and get some answers or at least find them a proper home while we wait for the fix to be processed.

@Seabass, you have a PM..
In this case both I refer to was escalated the last I saw of them,
but now they're gone completely missing.

By reading some of my last messages on these forums you should get an idea on when the ticket was first started..
I guess it is about 2 months 16 days ago (something along those lines, IP was at .164)..
IP was about the activation issue..

Progress...

I still can't get my optical drives skinned when I apply a package.

But

I can skin the optical drives individually now.

Keep up the good work!

Still no replies anywhere regarding the lost tickets (especially one of them regarding IP), just
a single one on Aug 6 stating that the tickets I was referring to wasn't there.. which was my
point exactly.

Btw, the ticket number for my IP case was apparently CYT-199472 according to
this post

I updated the PM convo and confirmed my earlier info about the current status of tickets.

I updated IP yesterday. i see in the History of the app that the start menu 'control panel' and 'connect to' icons should now change to icons designated by the package applied. on my laptop, which uses vista home premium 32, they icons change. on my main rig, which uses vista ultimate 64, the icons do not change to match the applied package.

Will the Network Locations in the Computer window be skinned at some point also? The yellow default ones don't really fit :NOTSURE:

@Seabass, I appreciate you taking the time to attempt to help me.. Sounds like you either found it or you found the original (pre mergeattempt ticket). Answered.

I hear some rumours that the newest beta has a fix for the battle of activations that works.. Can this be confirmed by you or anyone?
I'm a bit reluctant to install beta's on this computer as I prefer my own programs to be the only ones with beta status, but I will if it cures this problem without introducing too much new bugs.

Found a problem in x64 with the Save As dialog window, the icons seem to remain default Aero for the most part:

We are working on this issue with Microsoft.  It appears that there may be a shell issue that we are trying to get them to address.

Well that would explain the issue then...  :p - Hope MS is ....helpful? :o

Btw, I guess I should update this thread too..
IP4 4.09b cured all my issues with activation it seems.. :)

I can run all parts of IP4 in sequence as many times as I want to without any of them nagging for activation.
To be sure the beta contained activation I renamed the sig.bin and they asked for activation when they should (I only tested one or two of the parts this way).

I wondered about that. The release doesn't mention fixing that issue.

Comments Zargon? .. or anyone else involved in the development.

As an aside, I still haven't heard anything new back from support on my ticket for the Optical Drive/activation issue. (Last response was 'We're working on it')

Would I have gotten something if a fix was released?

@pictoratus,
I was a bit hesitant myself when it was mentioned in the thread "activation keeps coming up..." that Goose40 got rid of this issue after installing the beta.
After asking for confirmation and receiving it from Goose40 I decided to try (making sure I had a new backup image before continuing), and, well it seems to have squashed my problems with activation (battle of activations etc) which is somewhat well documented in these forums.

As it is a beta, the only thing you can be almost sure of is that there are usually more changes than is publically described..
However, because it is a beta, treat it as such.

Regarding support, if they're similar to most support staffs they would be very reluctant to recommend a beta as this has the potential of creating even more problems.

Because some of this particular issue probably can be done online (serverside) there is also the possibility they have fixed the activation issue by providing corrected activation commands through Impulse (i.e the activation it performs after installing a product if it doesn't find sig.bin etc.)

I asked specifically about repeatedly running each part of IP when I asked for confirmation.. (sorry for the extra post, it's not possible to edit as I'm posting from my phone with no visible edit button on the page)

was solved the problem of CD drive?

I just noticed I can change individual icons again without the activation.exe error, and I was able to change my dvd drive icon. :O

I can't see IP4 4.09b in SDC ( even with pre-release version)
Is it shown only with impulse?

Windows xp sp3

Doesn't appear to be in SDC yet.

Probably just an oversight. I'm sure they'll get it showing up there soon. ;)

Christolia, I guess it might only be available in Impulse as it is the primary delivery vehicle for the products, although SDC isn't abandoned.

As I've mentioned before this is a beta, so it should be treated as such..

Yeah, isn't it cool to finally not have to reactivate all the time... :)
