IconPackager v4.0 Release Support Thread

IconPackager v4.0 Release Support Thread

Please use this thread for IconPackager v4.0 Support Issues

All,

With IconPackager v4.0 being released tomorrow, I am creating this thread to house support for the newly released product.

At this time there are no known issues for either 32-bit or 64-bit.

For all of those who have reported and tested issues on 64-bit we thank you for your time and support.

Regards,

Zargon

Yes but testing showed further troubles. It is in the works as one of the top priorities but we will not release unless it really is a fix for all systems.

but updating .168 icons DVD drive should see properly?

That's the thing.I'm still at 4.00.166, it just started working.I didn't update. :NOTSURE:

For IP in SDC,(twice, actually)I show .166 -5/15/08 and -5/14/08 with no available update..It does show three other updates, one shows in Impulse(DeskScapes),two don't.The dates in SDC seem whacked.I just updated WB last night, yet it shows 5/7/08 for the date.I'll stick with Impulse for updates. :D

Should we be uninstalling IP3 to avoid both versions showing up in Impulse & its dock?
I took the one marked IP off the dock and hid it in Impulse.I'm sure they'll fix it with an update.I don't want to risk messing something up. ;p

No such luck here. WB 6.11 (Build 58), IP 4.00.168, XP Pro SP3. Same old, same old. Still can't change individual icons of any type. Of course, unfortunately perhaps, I updated IP from Impulse after updating WB earlier without trying to change any thing inbetween.

hallv5 you can go to my server site and view a few screenshots I've made here. I have 3 machines - 2 xp pro and a vista. All of them work completely with the new version. WWW Link
You must have something wrong there. I believe it is one of the icon packages you have installed or even another icon program. Please try uninstalling your program and moving all of your icon packages to another location before you reinstall IP again.
As to date all the problems with icon packager has been resolved.

4.00.168 doesn't fix the issues here, either. WinXP Pro, SP3.

I'd like to get confirmation from Stardock that the .168 update is supposed to fix both issues, before I go through the uninstall/reinstall hassle.

No other icon program, just IconPackager. Will try your suggestion and let you know how it works...

According to the Panic Button page, changing individual icons in IP4 is still a known issue and and is still being worked on by the developers.

For some of us, no amount of uninstalling, reinstalling, etc, etc. does any good. They will have the fix out as soon as possible.

As far as 4.00.168, it has been noted by one of the Support people that it is a 'restaged' release ... don't have a clue what that means   ... but I'm guessing it ain't the fix.  ;)

No go I'm afraid. Uninstalled IP via Impulse. Manually removed all traces of the IconPackages. Reinstalled IP via Impulse. Same old 'cannot find...activate.exe' problem as before with no IconPackages installed other than the three (3) that come with IP. Oh well...

I've been having a bit of an issue with my IP install for a while. I kept putting it off hoping that an update would address it but so far I've had no luck resolving it.
Basically, every time I go to apply a new package I get an error prompt that says the following:

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program Files\Stardock\IconPackager\iconpackager.exe

R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

So here I am. Anyways, this has been happening for quite some time (since I rebuilt my system earlier this year) but I never got around to trying to fix it. So today I jumped in and got my hands dirty, uninstalled IP, rebooted, started Impulse, cleared cache folders etc, started Impulse again, installed IP, rebooted once more for good measure and yet here I am again facing the same prompt.
The odd thing is that it seems to do the job, as iconpackages do get applied completely to the system as far as I can tell (minus drives and CD icons, which I understand are caused by a known bug).

So I'm hoping some kind soul from the awesome Stardock support team will be able to shed some light on this issue and hopefully help me resolve it.

Thanks in advance.

My icons still break after I have uninstalled IconPackager. It is okay that you want the users to install your apps, but when they choose to remove it, don't leave the system malfunction.

I don't know why you have encountered this issue, I have reverted back to default icons in both Vista and XP prior to uninstalling/re-installing Iconpackager, more than once, and I've not struck it on my rig. Did you revert back to default windows icons prior to uninstalling IP... or after?? If after, you will need to reinstall IP> select default icons> then uninstall IP.

If before, then I'm not too sure what the problem may be; however, you could also try re-installing IP> selecting Windows default icons> and in the Settings tab> select one of the following, 'rebuild icon cache', 'repair shell icons' and 'repair icon images' to see if one these options helps to restore your icons to normal. Hope this helps. :)

Been there, done that. Nothing helps at this moment. Seems like a bug that occur only to a few, like me :(
Thanks for the suggestion though :D

This has probably been mentioned before, but I couldn't find anything about it, and I tried googleing.

For some reason Live Folders on Vista are broken. I had this issue with 3.2, and I thought 4.0 would solve it, but it's still the same.

Long time ago I installed a theme similar to Carbonite only white, so lets call it White. In the meantime I uninstalled it, but live folders were still showing in that style. Later I tried many themes, and IIRC out of all of them only Unity could replace the White theme's live folders, and still not completely as those White icons would creep in here or there. Now I've decided to change my icons to Quest, but live folders are still either Unity or White. Even if I try to change to Default Vista icons, live folders are Unity or White.

Did someone have a similar problem? Is there any way to reset the Live Folders to default ones? A registry setting or something?

Thanks.

I got a wierd problem here with Iconpackager 4.0.165 - only one I can get with sdc

1. I get the activate window nearly all the time -I did a refresh of xml file - that seemed to have helped

2. After applying an iconpackage -I get asked about 2 things

a) different drive setting is on, wanna keep that -yes
b) explorer handles every window seperatly, wann keep that - yes

After applying the iconpackage I get a lot of explorer.exe errors, one time it started and stoppedm started and stoppen continously.

Whats going on here?

I am on xpsp3 home german

OK. Now something happened that leaves me totally "WTF?!"
[cut]

Edit: False alarm. Problem was with something else. Related, but not important to IP. Sorry for n00bness.
