IconPackager v4.0 Release Support Thread

Please use this thread for IconPackager v4.0 Support Issues

All,

With IconPackager v4.0 being released tomorrow, I am creating this thread to house support for the newly released product.

At this time there are no known issues for either 32-bit or 64-bit.

For all of those who have reported and tested issues on 64-bit we thank you for your time and support.

Regards,

Zargon

Icon Packager 4 went up on SDC later this afternoon. If you do not see the update be sure you have restarted SDC. If you still do not see the update in versions click on Tools > Settings > Internet > Refreseh XML Data and you should be all set!
But when I update through SDC I' m asked to register IP 4 , where do I find my serial, someone tried OD serial and that didnt work.

II am using Vista 64 bit, and when I go to settings, in the Windows Settings, I can't change the size of my icons from 32 pixels. The dialog box is greyed out.

Ok so, I updated the XML in SDC and now it shows the update but it says I have to register it first. My IP3 reg number is not valid, so what should I do?

V 4.00.163 seems to be working here apart Language which is not correctly applied neither than the real path where packages may be defined ... (IP goes correctly to the defined path but when a package is applied it seems to be stored in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Stardock\IconPackager), and still can't find how to save as a new package after recoloring one ...

N.B: XP SP3 french

Every time I reboot computer and try to use V 4.00.163 it keeps asking me to activate it.
Also, as above, the file location seems incorrect. Also using XP SP3 English.
Another part is sometimes my dvd drive has the correct icon and other times not. If I try to change it I am forced to activate again and then reboot.
Going to roll back to previous version till this mess is sorted out.

I get to be another data point. Yippee.

DVD drive not skinned. When I try to manually change the icon for the drive, I get a warning that "Activate.exe" is not in the Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Stardock\Icon Packager folder (which is where all of my icon packs are stored).

Windows XP SP3 32-bit. IP 4.00.163. IP was first updated, then uninstalled and then reinstalled to try to solve the problem. All done through Impulse 1.01.155.

For registration of IP4 > Use 'Object Desktop Ultimate' serial number and click activate (Tested with XP SP3 x86 and Vista SP1 x86). :)
But each time I reboot and then go to use IP it asks me to register it again.

Arfff, same problem with XP SP3 after the reboot.

Here is the full scoop as of today.

IconPackager 4 was released yesterday.  This is a new product on the store, “IconPackager 4”.  IconPackager 4 is $19.95.

There is also an “IconPackager 4 (Upgrade)” with Product ID ESD-SDS-W424 for $9.95.

Users who purchased IconPackager since February 1, 2007 get it for free.  There’s an email going out to those customers right now so you should have it already if this applies to you. Be sure to check your spam filters if you purchased after Feb 1st but have not gotten an email. If you still find nothing please contact [email protected].

Both items can be found at https://www.stardock.com/products/iconpackager/purchase.asp

And both products have been added to the list of eligible products to upgrade to Object Desktop from, at https://www.stardock.com/products/odnt/odnt-upgrade.asp

This update corrects multiple bugs as well as the activation issue that many people were experiencing. If you are able to please update to this version of the software.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sorry but I don quite understand what's going on here. I have Object desktop ultimate, valid until feb 09. Icon packager works but as soon as I try to use Icon explorer it asks to be activated. When I try to change an Icon when right clicking on a file and using the Change Icon Page I get the message "Windows cannot find .......iconexplorer\Activate.exe. Do I need to buy a standalone version of Icon Packager now. I also used up all my activations during this process and I only have Object desktop on one computer.

I'm getting some weirdness with the IP"Conspiracy" Some Icons have missing graphics in some places.(Incomplete image) I'll try a few more packages over the weekend,so far only this one. I'll post a ss Monday if it's still doing it.

Actually here it is now, maybe other users can check this package,I tried 4 others, all ok.

I'm using that same package and don't have that problem.

My problem is the DVD/CD drives not skinned, same problem that was in IP 3.99.144, 3.99.146 and this current one.

There was no answer for #30, though i re ask:

1°) How to change language efficiently ?

2°) How to save as a new package after recoloring one, and in the path defined in options (for me: E:\Stardock\Object Desktop\IconPackager\Themes WINXP )

I'm also having an issue with DVD/CD drives not skinned.

If I try to manually set the icon for the DVD drive, I also get the "Windows cannot find C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.Windows\Application Data\Stardock\IconPackager\Activate.exe" message.

Additionally, some packages seemed to have been corrupted in the update ... Blue Whales, Buuf Deuce, among others ... with only one icon showing upon applying (all others are just blank). Deleting and re-installing seems to have fixed Buuf Deuce; haven't tried the others yet.

IP 4.00.163

I have exactly same problems with the description of pictoratus
Cd/Dvd drives not skinnened , neither manually
I have already sent a ticket id

Os:Xp Home service pack 3

Works perfectly, x64 has no bugs (that I can see anyway), there is one app where icons arent being replaced though. The folder icons under the x86 IE7 favorites menu seem to still be default when an iconpackage is applied.

Two major problems with IPv4.163:

1. Keeps asking for activation EVERY time!

2. File and drive icons change arbitrarily to random wrong icons no matter how much I save and back up. IP v3## used to be stable.

IconPackager v4 is a nightmare.

New IP v4.00.159 not skinned drivers iconOS XP service pack3Same problem with build 4.00.160 under Windows XP SP3 32-bits > CD-rom iconEdit: Unable to reproduce this problem with build 4.00.160 under Windows Vista SP1 32-bits except for 'Network Location' icon and 'Zip drive' icon. Not fixed under Windows XP SP3 and latest build > 4.00.163.+ problematic activation process under XP.Edit: Ticket > KIW-930507

Confirmed..

How many times do I need to activate IP and IE to get them to store the
da.. info?
It works for the app you register (you get the dialog, not automatic), not both.
It works until something is unloaded from memory, then it repeats itself.

Back to 3.99.146.. That one would at least register.

I'm a OD user, WXP SP3.

I meant confirmed to the activation issue.

This seems rather funny.. It is 4.0.163 that causes the activation issues, at least in my case.

I don't dare to install IP now, I guess I'll wait and see. Continously restoring disk images is too timeconsuming.
I've had bad experiences with both Impulse and IconPackager today (Restored a disk image between the two, and yet again after failing IP4), and I guess that's enough.
