DeskScapes 2.0 Launch Support Thread

The problem I have seen most is that if you didn't uninstall the preview prior to installing the full version, the two would conflict and neither would run. Hopefully this has been addressed.

I installed 2.00.055 late last night on my Compaq PC w/Vista Home Basic-HP-DVD-nVidia 6150SE. First,is there no end to the things that Stardock can do? Amazing stuff! It installed and ran great with whatever codec it's using.I downloaded several dreams and all worked fine. I just tried them again and now two of the dreams(Aurora[1] and Electric Vista[1]) don't fill all of my 17" monitor.It's solid black around the edges,(approx. 2") with the dream centered on screen,but they do run.I'm real sure it wasn't like that when I dl'd and tried them. I can upload a ss but that pretty much describes it.Is there a setting or something I'm missing? Btw, 1024x768 resolution.  

Try checking theh fist and last option on the positioning (at the bottom).

Just installed the DeskScapes 2.00.058 update  and after requested system restart, my currently applied windows blind theme, Stardock Molten is acting up. Now, when i click on the start menu, the animation of the dragon at the top of the screen is blinking white squares on it? I have no deskscape currently applied, and all was fine before update.  So i reapplied a different theme then went back to molten, and like magic it was fixed strange issue, just thought i would let all know.

One of the support guys pointed out your reply and concern about the Karma that you thought you might have lost. When you're on a forum, you'll only see karma that was given to you, for posts which are part of the website's forums that you're currently viewing. For example; The Stardock Forums have a category 'Sugar and Candy' and someone gives you karma for a reply on a post in that category. That Karma will show up on the Stardock Forums. But then say you shoot over to the Wincustomize forums and the Wincustomize Forums don't have the 'Sugar and Candy' category. The Wincustomize Forums won't reflect the karma you had recieved for your reply in that category. Now, if both of the forums share that category, then your karma for that reply will show up in both.

There is a method to this madness, and the explanation is much simpler than what I just typed: A user might be extremely helpful on say, the Stardock Forums, and deserves all the karma they can get. However, they might not visit a website like the TweakVista forums at all. So they should have lots of Karma for the Stardock Forums, but very little for the TweakVista forums.

I hope that I cleared this up a little for you. The moral of the story is that Karma will vary from site to site, but rest assured you're not losing any

The one question I have is, I'm currently using Deskscape 1.02 with Windows Vista Ultimate, now since Deskscape 2.0 is out should I purchase and upgrade as it still down Deskscape free for Windows Vista Users when you try to purchase Deskscapes 2.0 ? The one lacking info I don't see in FAQ is what's the main difference's' between Deskscapes 1.02 and Deskscapes 2.0. Thanks

You wil also find that Deskscapes is better prepared for SP1 for Vista. There is also another update in the works for this software. No set date yet but it should not be a long wait.

That's great to hear,Seabass. Update 2.00.058 "broke" Deskscapes on my machine. I did a restore to get it back but I'd like to update from 2.00.055 The error was dwm related,said it wasn't running I think. Task man said it was.Someone posted a similar problem elsewhere in these forums. Thanks

I have installed deskscapes on my vista ultimate laptop, from the website, its version 1.02. I am having issues playing dreamscapes. I get the message to purchase deskscapes.(I was under the impression that it was free for ultimate users.)

I have stardock central installed and get a message that my registration is invalid and to purchase one when i go to update deskscapes to the new version (v2.00.058)

What do i need to do to get this working?

Judging by your profile, I assume that you have not purchased the retail version of DeskScapes. If this is the case version 2.0 will not work for you and you must use 1.02.
Following these steps should fix your problem.

Uninstall deskscapes.
After uninstalling deskscapes, manually delete the "C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Deskscapes" directory and the "C:\Program Files\stardock\object desktop\deskscapes" directory if the uninstall process didn't delete them.
Reboot.
Download DeskScapes 1.02
Install DeskScapes 1.02
Reboot.
At this point it should work

Dot45 it depends on what Ultimate you are talking about. If you are talking about Vista Ultimate there is a program that will run video files built in but it isn't Stardock's Deskscapes. The Dream files that Deskscapes uses are ment to be run by Deskscapes.

Now if you have Object Desktop Ultimate then Deskscapes is part of your purchase and through Impuse or Stardock Central you can access the 2.0 version. However if you do not have the regular purchase or Object desktop then the link provided to the free download by CarGuy1 is the only real option with out spending money on the software.

The free version contains 3 dreams but it will only play the three that come with it.

i guess i was confused where the stardock website states that deskscapes is FREE for vista ultimate users. I guess they should list if its only a free demo (kinda defeats the purpose.)

I have this working fine on my other vista ultimate computer without paying for the software. I will give the instructions listed above a shot.

As stated I am running VISTA ULTIMATE on my laptop, I know dreamscenes are MS and deskscapes is stardock, I am simply trying to figure out why when installing deskscapes on my laptop, its installing the demo version of the application. Since the website states that the app is free for users of vista ultimate and i am downloading from the correct link.

I had tried reinstalling before, but didnt know about the folder that was placed into the programdata folder, maybe you guys should edit the installer to remove that on uninstall or to delete the contents if its found on install.

I've got the same problem as decribed by Breathless19 WWW Link, but his solution doesn't work for me.

I've got Vista Business 64Bit SP1, the .dream-Files won't play because of "The dream may contain an invalid video type or a compatible MPEG-2 Video Decoder may not be present."

I also installed the KLite 64Bit Codec Pack, the error remains.
Any ideas?

I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the codecs and the program - tadaa. It works now.

I'm wondering when finaly the full downloadable version of deskscapes for home premium etc. will be aviable! I'm really waiting a very long time for it and it's still not on the site! HELP!!

I started a Topic before, but someone told me I should post here...Ok, once again:

I bought and installed Deskscaped 2.0 and the BlissfulDream (I have the problem with every dream, btw). After Windows boots up, I can see a still picture of the Dream (Like a Wallpaper), but it´s not moving. I can wait 10,20,30 minutes and nothing happens.

If I click on the Windows Start Menu, it starts playing, when I leave the Menu, it stops again. Also, when doing a double click on the Desktop it starts playing, too (then forever), but that´s not the way it should work.

Well, I isolated the Problem:

I´m using an L.I.S.2 LCD Display in my PC. When the Software starts, It´s scanning the COM Ports for the Display. And when that happens the Dream stops playing. The Program actually starts as soon as the desktop appears, so I thought the dream never played at all.
I removed it from the startup and everything´s fine, until it started it manually.

But what have both programs (Deskscapes and the Multimedia Control Center) in commong that they interfere with each other?
