I actually cleaned up mine today. It was a mess, I have a nasty habit of downloading files to my desktop (because I'm too lazy to navigate through folders) and it just piled up.
Now its reasonably clean:
By the way Brad, thats a pretty Demigod icon you have there. How abouts you send me a copy of the game so I can add it to my collection hehe. ![]()

Oook, someone has gone crazy from their flu...
Seriously though, it does look messy. Maybe if you increase the spacing between the icons it will look better. That will also solve the sloping icons hiding part of the text of the icons above it.
Nice wallpaper though I don't like the way it conflicts with the start bar. I change wallpapers obsessively, I just can't stand to watch the same picture day after day.
Phason: I like the way you put all the game shortcuts on the left and the programs on the right.

Really? I always do it like that. Left side = fun, right side = serious business (most of the time).

Hey, Frogboy... are you really that much concerned about time? Cuz, there are clocks everywhere.
Might as well share mine as long as we are on the subject of personal PC setups, lowered to 256c for file sizing efficiency--

I just play games, really enjoys sky-blue kinda colorings. X-Com_UFOD is actually in a Dos-Dox when i'm not deep into modding stuff for GC2_DA(..TotA) --IF-- i'm not playing that one either, though.
Every icons there belongs to fully purchased products, btw. Which means that... Gosh, there's a lot of cash hovering on that desktop. Some trials still to cleanup and yet, must maintain the essentials as long as possible!!
Next -- Twilight of the Arnor right below DA's reddy on the left-side.

~tries to click on the icon that is shorted to "Dragon-vis..." to see if it's a clue to the non-MoM game~
Tip of my hat to your Flyer's liking though.

Come on. Your desktop isn't that bad. Mine is ussually worse by far. When I say ussually, I mean that once I clean my C: drive at the end of the year, everything is clean again. As such, my desktop isn't as horrible as it ussually gets... yet. I still need to make a few more half finished attempts to sort my desktop before it becomes truely horrible.
I could post an image, but I don't think I want to show you guys.

Oh, while we're at it, here's my desktop. I actually make it a point to clean it up at least once a month. But a screenshot of my wallpaper with just two or three folders would be pretty boring...

If I get too much of one type of thing, I just make a folder for it and throw all the icons into there. So there's a game folder for most of my game icons, w/just the ones I'm playing a lot at the moment out on the desktop. All my utility icons, all into a folder. etc...

ok, post #2. I've seen these other pics w/people using object bar and it inspired me to get more organized, so here is new desktop - un-messy. Keep in mind, everthing except the top bar is on autohide, so its usually out of sight.

Ok...since i can't edit that post....i guess some explanation is needed...i use dual screens with Ultramon, one is a 22" and the other a 19" so that explains the black bar under the monitor to the right.
Bit of info if ya'll interested, the bulk carrier in the shot, is the Pasha Bulker, i took this photo in June '07 after one of the worse storms in Newcastle's history that washed this ship ashore and onto the reef it's on in the pic. It was retrevied about a month after i took this shot...
Here's a wiki link if want to read about it.

Messy is right.

And that's just the fake-ily messy one to eventually post on WinCustomize in the screenshots section, where there's all those rules about not showing 'too much of the wallpaper'.
This is what it really looks like:

What can I say? I'm a true minimalist.

Its a deskscape from stardock's object desktop suite of proggy's. You can't tell from the pic but its animated and spins around, has a day/night cycle, pretty cool. Just looked in the dreams directory, its called "desktop earth.dream". Appearantly there are other earth dreams out there too nowadays as well on wincustomize.com, haven't tried any of the others though.
Unfortunately, I have a problem a lot of people had recently, my first restart after updating deskcapes (which was shortly after I made and posted those pics) has caused my animated backgrounds to no longer work. Happened to a bunch of us from the looks of things in the forums, and I emailed in about it w/my specs, so hopefully its only temporary. I've had to switch to a non-animated regular old vanilla background for now. =<
