What do you mean? What subscription?

Buying ObjectDesktop entitles you to one year of free updates, after that you will receive no further updates, however your programs will continue to function as normal.

ODNT and WB work perfectly well with no subscription.    You just don't get any updates after a year.

What!

wpbdude1 your profile shows you have been around since 2004, the last time seen here in 2006 and you are just now, in 2008, asking about subscriptions?

Must of not really been that important to you.

I'm sorry for that, your profile may not be correct or it my not be yours.

Okay, point taken. However, I have been using my MacBook Pro mainly since then and rarely used xp with Parallels Desktop. But now that I have started to use XP on this laptop...I want to tweak things up a bit.

The problem I am having is that WB Stardock indicate that I can't do xyz because my sub has expired. Or at startup it continues to say i'm in trial mode.

What am I missing here?

Thanks

sounds like yr ODNT subscription has run out.......... i guess it depends what you are after on your pc, to 'tweak' things as you say, if you just after simplicity, windowblinds is a great way to go, but if you want to go all out and get icons ect......id deffinatley purchase ODNT again, its worth the money and your pc always looks great.

hope this helps.......if not.....my appologies.

That sounds like you are using the trial ver of Windoblinds, which, by definition is a 'trial', namely it expires after 30 days, after which your choices are to uninstall, or purchase the full version...;)

You can request the links to the Original versions you purchased, but thier capabilities to run current skins, depends on how old the apps versions are.

It sounds like you downloaded the trial verison, which will expire.

hope this helps. :)

once you got them loaded - archive them - that's how you keep them so you can keep them

This pertains to WB6 and ODNT and subscriptions so I hope I'm in the right place. Now I am totally confused!

I purchased WB6 3months ago as a stand alone after using the trial version for less than 2 hours. I know, I'm an easy sell!lol
I also bought a WC sub('cause you deserve it)

Does this mean I won't get any WB6 updates after 1/15/09 or will I get them until the next numbered version?

Does the WC sub have any bearing on WB/ODNT updates?

Can WB6 be "traded-in" so to speak on a ODNT sub,pro-rated for milage, of course.

I've tried Sound packager& Icon packager and both work well on my new bargain basement old tech PC,but I can't run dreams without a 3rd party plugin(no DVD support with basic)so just the base ODNT is all I really need and can possibly afford for now.

Math is not my best subject, did I do this wrong?
Should I just wait til my sub runs out to get ODNT,buy other stand alones as I want them or what?

Sorry about all the noob questions, I just need to know how this all ties together and for how long before I spend any more money.(tax refund is in the mail  Thanks

No direct relation (but thanks for supporting the site)

There is a discount for upgrades to ODNT.  $35 now I think.

Buy it all now so you can enjoy what you can.  Upgrade your PC to be able to run the suite.  Call it incentive.  :)

Thanks Zubaz. I'll be checking with sales tomorrow about prices, the mailman had good news today! I'll have to look into that plug in thing, though.I have WMP11 sans dvd and could use some advice as to what I need for dreams to work. just a link to more info would be a great help. The last working computer I used was an Apple IIc so I"m a little behind the times, to say the least. Will HP DVD play still work or can I uninstall it? Even without the dreams, I'm sure I won't be disappointed. :D

Dreams work on Vista not XP.

The Impulse website says I will need a video codec capable of playing DVD (mpeg2)? files. I do know that Vista Home Basic does not have one,and my machine came with HP's in house DVD software and WMP11.I am just unsure about what else I need or if it is even possible with this version of Vista. Like I said though, even without deskscapes, it's still one heck of a good value. I'll check out your link Bebi, you are always helpful to us newcomers.I'm sure this isn't my last dumb question. ;p  Thanks

Home Basic...sigh, why did MS even bother.

Yes there's a link on the DeskScapes site that has codecs you might need to install (it shouldn't affect DVD playback negatively, personally I use the CCCP [combined community codec pack]). DeskScapes 2.0 will work on any version of Vista, however the demo that is currently available will only play the 3 dreams that come with it, downloaded dreams will not work. I'm not sure when the full version will be available for purchase. The full 2.0 beta is available for ObjectDesktop subscribers that will play any dreams.

Home Basic = Demo version I suppose.I'm ok with it's limitations. I really don't know any better. :p  I will be getting ODNT tomorrow regardless, Deskscapes or no.I'm sure I will have enough to try to learn to keep me busy. I never watch movies on this pc anyway. I've got a widescreen hi-def TV, a dvd player and a dvd recorder so I don't want to spend money on extras I won't or can't use.Btw, Bebi, you put a link in the forums(old post) to a stack docklet and I just want to say Thank You very much. And thanks to the creator of it as well. I use them every day. :CONGRAT:

I have e-mailed sales twice during business hours and 5 hours later,no reply. I even checked in junk, spam, etc. All I need are a few answers before I happily send Stardock some money. I guess my question now is "Who's minding the store?" Should I try again tomorrow or wait for a reply?   Kinda takes the impulsiveness out of Impulse, but I can wait. (:(
