Ok guys, here you go, a thread devoted entirely to the release of my own ship models and the discussion of SoA2, specifically topics which have been pseudo-banned (i.e.Borg). Feel free to download my ship(s) and test them, then post criticisms and suggestions (constructive please) so I can improve my models and make them better. This thread in no way is designed to detract from SoA2, it's just another place we can talk.

So a SSD with upgraded shields and photon + quantum torpedoes owns everything else?!?Of course. You can't beat an Executor-class SSD. especially when it has the power of the dark side, courtesy of Darth Vader.


Right up until the captured Rebel Death star uses it's main gun on the SSD!!! :-)

Right. Rebels with a Death Star. Of course, the Executor never got quantum and photon torpedoes so I can't complain. Of course, all Darth Vader needs to do is trigger some major malfunction with the Force and blow the Death Star to bits. Or completely erase the minds of the firing control crew members. Plus him and a few apprentices could squeeze it into a Imperial Cubeship with a major Borg-pwning laser.

It is on an earlier page of this thread, make sure that you look through all of the posts as earlier versions may still be listed. The newest file is the last one posted I think. It is worth the download!

i downloaded it n it works fine up to when i some of my ships gets into a fight the game freezes and i get n error box any ideas???

Well, I will take a shot at your problem, but I don't know for sure really. Make SURE you have the latest patch installed (v1.05). Make SURE the mod files were extracted to your MODS directory (the readme should tell you the exact location). Make SURE the mod is properly enabled in the main menu. Also, the probes the Excelsior fires have empty "buttons" where controls would normally be. DON'T Mouse over them! That alone will crash the game. See the earlier pages of the thread.

Combat works fine for me, so I don't know what is wrong with your setup. Does the normal, un-modded game work properly? What exactly does the error message say? What are your system specs? I hope you get it working, even in it's early stage it is worth the effort!

There is nothing wrong with your computer or installation - it's a bug in the mod. It has been identified earlier in this thread, but the mod hasn't been updated in so long and it has never been "fixed". It happens when you destroy a particular ship type - read back through this thread to find out which (I can't remember).

Too bad this mod appears to be dead - it had a lot of potential...

I don't know if dead would be the appropirate word. Dormant maybe. Ez doesn't have internet at his house, he has to travel for it. So maybe the next time we see him, there will be a major update.

Im glad the first star trek mods are already in progress!! :)
Sins of a Solar Empire is a really awesome game! The only thing I missed were Star Trek based ships... till I found this thread...

A really nice work, Ezraeil!!! Your models are amazing! Keep on that good work, whenever you ve got time for it!!!

Unfortunatelly my modding expieriences are quite low... ok, nearly zero, but that game makes it easy to understand how a game works. I tried to change a few settings for myself already and now I completed a first visible "upgrade".
By installing your Starfleet-Ship-Mod I noticed some picture files for ur ships are missing, as well as hud icons. Ok, thats done already... :D

Next I changed my TEC-hud to a more "trekkier" one and made it a bit transparent.
Finally I exchanged the player TEC pictures to Star Trek pictures (including Kirk, Picard, Janeway, Sisco, Archer and a neutral Starfleet logo, as there are six player pictures for each race).

Here is a screenshot of the Star Trek Hud:

Thanks for ur compliments!!

dtrford12: install notes are in the ReadMe.txt. Just follow that steps! Usually u have to put all that files and folders to ur Mod folder. U have to look ingame where ur mod folder is. The standard mod paths for vista and xp u can also find in the ReadMe!

MrMit: I also cant await the release of new star trek ships!!! Its quite calm here since a few weeks... :(
Surely Ezraeil is busy in real life, hope, he didnt forget us here!! lol

Wish I could model some ships, but I have no expieriences and also the tutorials are very hard to understand for me...
So I continue working on minor changes, I will update a new star trek intro movie the next time! Hope it helps waiting for new ships... ;)

I am in the process of making the USS ENTERPRISE NCC-1701 from the origanal series.
This is not a mod for the game but i thought that you might be interesed in it.

That is what I thought as well at first but we pulled the Kodiak Completely out of the game (meaning removed tec heavy cruiser entity file as well as removed references to it from playertech.entity) and the memory dump still happened (though not till about an hour into play so it was smoother) the whole map was discovered at that point, there was no kodiaks anywhere. However I could reliably produce the error when killing a kodiak in the original files so now I am not sure what to say on that. Other than it is not just the installation. I have been playing the mod as much as it will let me and for an alpha, it has lots of potential. It also looks like the excelsior's hardpoints need only minor tweaking and that is only to make it look more realistic. Other than that I like it. I wonder what special weapons they will put for the excelsior besides the probes. Not to mention other ships (hint). I want to learn how to make the ships. What software should I use for Sins?

Well, there's a program called XSI Modding Tools for the modeling. Its free (I think) and it most likely has .mesh capability, since its for modding. As for entities, use Notepad, which come with Windows. Same with the String file as well. And galaxy files can be Notepad edited as well. Sins is actually fairly easy to mod, me making a crappy cut and paste mod of my own in a few hours of half-assed effort. Making all those files not read-only is very annoying.
