Interestingly enough, there's 3 impulse specific down loads each with different version information...

The exclamation point graphic is fixed for DeskScapes and IconPackager in this build.

+1 to the zero byte Archive
+1 to history 404. But only for some components, some actually supply history, some say information not available, some say 404 not found.

I finally got Impulse to work on my XP/Satellite internet PC. I had to go in to Internet Options and remove the proxy server information (the satellite software uses a proxy to optimize the connection). Without the proxy, Impulse was able to connect and download, albeit very slowly.

I've been trying, since this came out, with no success. Couldn't get past the log-in screen.
Tried the no proxy way and I'll be dogged, it works.

Will this eventually be pushed out over SDC?

PurrBall I think eventually Stardock want Impulse to replace SDC, but don't quote me on that, I've been wrong before.   

I see the store page has changed. I don't like it as much as previous page. Looks like most things have been changeg to show the products with text links instead of the nice graphics and screenshots that were shown before. Looks very plain and green now.

I like the news page though!
(Many of the image alt text has "&trade" after the name of the product i.e. "Iconpackager&trade")

This application will replace SDC.  However, we would not want to surprise our users by automatically replacing SDC with Impulse.  That is one of the reasons we allow these applications to run side-by-side.

We don't plan to push an Impulse install through SDC.  The initial install will always happen through the installer.

We found an issue with replacing files on reboot this last weekend.  So if you have been having problems installing please uninstall and reinstall the latest version from the download link.

not exactly sure how I did it , but by clicking a link within an impulse forum, I have access to wc forums within impulse. Can't just go to wc forums though, have to do it via that link.
still it's nice to have only the one program open... hmmmm can also access wc libraries here too.. cool!!
[edit] I was even able to download and install a cursorfx theme from within impulse. doesn't have that downloads feature that sdc has, but heck, least I didn't have to have two programs up at once to view impulse and forums n wc libraries.
now if I could just figure out how to get here without having to find a link within another post...

Easiest way I've found to get around the way you want is to click the Community tab or the News tab and then in the search box on the address bar type anything and it will take you to the Stardock forums. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Wincustomize logo.

for the record, I no longer recommend surfing the wc forums via impulse. once I opened that pandora's box, my ram usage almost topped out. it wasn't fun or pretty and while I wish I could continue to use the one program to do it all, I won't risk it anymore.

here's hoping they integrate the whole thing so we can surf the whole place without suffering the heavy load

I've had Impulse since about the first day without too many problems. It is however terribly slow to launch, to connect, to download and install updates. SDC on the other hand speeds right through these tasks.

Well, I've had an interesting morning.

Uninstalled Impulse and reinstalled the update "above". Everthing was fine until I installed "My Colors".
It moved my WB files to the Shared folder (took awhile to figure that out). Had to uninstall WB, then reinstall WB, but the WB folder only had 3 files in the Vista folder. So IE looked like $&%#.
Had to hunt down the Vista files and add them to the Vista folder, now IE is OK.
Ofcourse, I uninstalled My Colors.....

Okay guys Kaspersky antivirus yells like crazy whenever I run impulse. Here is what triggers the AV alert: http://www.viruslist.com/en/search?VN=Password-protected-EXE&referer=kis

Thanks if you can fix this I would be most happy. It is funny is will report it and as impulse loads up my AV will report a new variant of virus detected does this like 5-6 times!

I'm looking for a quicker way to get to WC libraries using Impulse.

While this may be a shorter path to WC it's still 3 clicks away. It would be easier if there were just a link to WC on the News page. Also when using SDC all of our Registrations are available on the settings page, will they be listed on the Registration page of "Impulse" once the final version is released? As of now just the apps are listed but none of the skins, suites, dreams etc...

I am sorry guys have run into trouble..vista ultimate 32 bit.exe doesnt install.it gives me an error message IMPD01-300..anyone know what that is..also the error reads please check your internet connection and firewall settings..infact even after disabling norton internet security still shows the same error.:( pls help.wht am i doing wrong.

Latest update fixes the (404) Not Found that was recorded in the error logs.

Nothing else obvious seems to have changed.

Something new I just noticed, there is no way to specify the location of the 'archive' directory.

I am loath to use this fully as I get numerous updates for software (latest one is saying that an update for logonstudio vista is available, installed 1.00.002, available 1.00a[a].017.

Surely the available update is older? I have beta updates in SDC and that doesnt show it.

Also right clicking and choosing history just gives an error page stating the webpage cannot be found. Whats up with that? It happens on all histories.

Also how the hell do you find out what version is installed? I ran it again today and it had two install updates, but nowhere does it say what has changed, what version it is or anything. At least SDC asks if you want it updated and shows whats changed and the version numbers.

Another feature I would like to see incorporated if this was to go mainstream is the Skins & Themes section of SDC, I use that once a week or so to check for new skins and find it invaluable. Can this be incorporated into Impulse?

On a final note how can I subscribe to this thread as I see no way of doing so, and its a nightmare to find each time I want to check it.

I can't get anything to install via Impulse. It'll download the updates just fine, but when it goes to install them, it just hangs. Doesn't give me any kind of progress. I'll wait 5-10 minutes trying to see if it's doing anything, then I give up and try to exit Impulse and it gives me the "installation in progress, would you like to exist anyways?" message so I click yes to quit and exit. It then says "installation encountered an error." I open SDC to update and it works without a hitch. This is fine for the WB update, but there's a newer IP update on Impulse that isn't on SDC, so I guess I'm stuck in between a rock and a hard place.

same here bebi and i uninstalled impulse due to the fact that sound packager crashes on my vista machine and after a re-start sound packager still crashes??
