Sins of a Solar Empire Update Schedule

A sneak preview

Despite the phenomenal success of Sins of a Solar Empire both in terms of sales and in reviews, we are just getting started! Ironclad and Stardock have a whole host of goodies in the pipeline for Sins of a Solar Empire.

First, we've decided to split the next major update into two parts. This way, we can release an update sooner.

The first update will be called Sins of a Solar Empire v1.04.  This version will contain some balancing updates based on player feedback, more computer AI updates, and other game play tweaking.

The second update will be Sins of a Solar Empire v1.1.  This will be a more significant update providing a considerable overhaul of the multiplayer system with more features and updated networking code to make it more robust under a whole series of circumstances. I can't go into too much detail but it's pretty cool stuff.  v1.1 will also include new graphical options including one with very high resolution textures.

After v1.1, we'll see where we're at and go from there.  Stay tuned!

Sounds like a great plan, Brad. Keep up the fine work.

This isn't directly related, but any word on Nvidia fixing issues on their end that relate to Sins?

I think this month's driver release should include their (hopefully working) fixes :)

Cool. SD/IC have been great about fixing issues on their end, but they can't fix graphic driver issues!

The other amazing thing here is that they're coming out with 1.1. For most companies, the .1 would be an entirely new expansion, but SD does a great job with rewarding the community for their purchases and also caring about what they created. Now, if people can just post constructive feedback and be more appreciative, I can only imagine how awesome the next updates will be... :)

So it's gonna go demo->1.04->1.11?

Sounds right to me. Hopefully there will be different people involved in creating the demo so they can be working on 1.04 while that's happening, but it's hard to know how many resources SD and IC have.

Are any chat chanegs being made? it's not game-breaking but it's extremely annoying the way it currently is.

Sounds like mostly multiplayer updates, aside from the AI tweaking, are there any significant SP changes in store for 1.1?

sounds awesome, but where do the mod tools fit in?

Sounds great! I'm definitely looking forward to the new patch. Kudos on the great work you guys are doing!

The chat issues are already fixed. More mod material is being worked on in parallel but this is inherently much slower going.

There will be new and better textures? maybe DX10? or just a fragmentation of the already graphic textures/options?

Not sure if you understood my question correctly, or if i didn't understand your response but, I'm referring to the 1.03 chat, not the bugs it had in 1.02.

There isn't going to be DX10 support added in a patch, that I can say with absolute certainty :P

They've said previously they planned to release their in-house very high res textures that they didn't use in the stock game, so I'm guessing this will be it.

Okay, glad to hear it, is there any timeframe for the mod stuff? (I promise this is the last time I'll hijack one of these threads, I promise)

1.03 chat problems are fixed (the ones we know of anyways).

Genius!

Any ETA on 1.04 and 1.1

:)

This is very, very good news. I think it's a great idea to divide up these updates, especially since the response to 1.03 was so mixed. Good work, guys.

music to my freaking ears. I can not express how amazed i am with you folks. this game turned out to be one hell of an investment for 40 bucks. amazing job. i simply can not wait until these updates come out. Super high rez textures are going to be great. With it, you should also add an option to really really decrese the max unit limit so that battles with these high textures do not get too hefty on the system. But hey, i dont care much. overall, you guys are amazing companies, keep up the amazing work!!!

Oh, now we're beginning to cook some serious food! Let it bake long enough and soon enough we'll have a pretty damn awesome Lasagna!

Edit: Typo.

I've no idea why it keeps logging me in as Wintermist :P Althought it's me, but hey... Go Lasagna!

Suggestion: More AI missions, along with giving credits = some happiness (limit of 10-20%?)

I can understand "You shouldn't be able to buy your allies" in single player, but I know if someone paid me 2k credits and asked me to lay off, I probably would for while.

Three cheers for high-res textures. Looks aren't everything but it'd be nice give my 8800 gts a bit more to do :)

Or just make it a matter of diminishing returns, so even if you make them initially happy, you'll need to pay them off more and more to prevent their happiness from dropping when they realize you aren't going to keep pay them off. That'd be awesome.
