I'm reading the thread, great work. Good thing is we've already started making replays for various strategies as an in-clan activity, many of those have been covered in your thread. I got the saved games, so after my clan buddy gets on tmr, we'll remake them again taking away the random chats. ^^

Playing Sins online?

Yes.  The online player counts are not very high since 99.5% of all Sins players only play single player, but you can find games to play during European and North American prime time with the weekends being the best time to play.  One problem is that Diplomacy has split the online community.

Sins has almost no clan activity because it has relatively little online multiplayer activity.  Sadly, about 99% of all Sins purchasers only played single player.

yes, its the fear that online needs the same time as singleplayer. That isnt true, but if you think you need 4 hours to play an onlinegame with unknown people you wont try it...

Most online games don't last more than 1.5 hours.  Why is that?  Because when you play a 3v3 or 4v4 or 5v5, you only need to knock out one of your opponents, not 9 as when people play huge maps with 9 AI opponents in FFA.  Also, human players can see the writing on the wall and will call it "gg" (good games) and quit or surrender rather than force the winning team to go through the boring motions of mopping up once the outcome of the game has been decided.

I wish there were a good way to communicate that to people.  Perhaps this game could use some sort of a built-in online multiplayer tutorial that could point that out.

I would be interested in becoming a memeber of this organization. I have the same user as i do on this forum for sins. Though, I am original version, don't have any expansions

 

No expansions here either- just the original game; plus I'm a true-blue noob to this game

I'd be surprised if anyone from that clan pays any attention at all to this forum any longer.  They've probably long since moved on.  As far as I know, they never played Sins online.  The good news is that you don't need a clan to play.  In fact there never really was much clan activity at all for this game.  After you've played for a month or two and feel confident about your knowledge of the different races, their tech trees, and their strengths and weaknesses and your mastery of the game's mechanics, just feel free to log onto Ironclad Online and join a game.

However, do note that most of the action is on the Diplomacy expansion (where you'll find the 4 on 4's and the 5v5's) and that the game has overall low player counts, so you'll often have to wait for games to fill.  (If you have Diplomacy now, it's no big deal, but if you're debating whether you want to spend money to get the expansions, then it might be something to consider.)
