Aura of Honor - Looking for Mature Players

Looking for Mature players

auraofhonor.com

Who we are?

The Aura of honor was said to have rose to power in the wake of war when political upheaval was at its highest. A formation of men dedicated to honor and fighting for their beliefs got together. These men with such strong respect for each other directly called there brothers "]-[onor". A tradition bestrode upon any member who joins today.

Who can join?

Almost anyone can join Aura of Honor. What we ask is that you’re respectful to all members of the community. We prefer people 21+ but are willing to accept people of younger age so long as your maturity level is correct.

We will be looking for a multinational crowd. Currently our member base extends the UK and US.

What makes us different?

Were a group of mature players who just want to have fun. The majority of us work full time ranging from graphic designers onto systems engineers. In spite some of us being more casual gamers we also encourage the hardcore who wish to partake in organised matches.

Everything we do will be decided together by voting etc headed up by a command team to give the final say. Suffice to say that will be the needs of the members and nothing will be done without the consultation of the team.

How can we join?

Drop a message here and let us know about your interest. Alternatively check out our website at
auraofhonor.com You will see a link at the top of the page to our forums. There you can start a topic and introduce yourself.

Work full time. In mid 40s. Been playing computer games since they came out (pong anyone?). If excepted, this will be the first guild I've ever decided to join. As long as other members don't call each other "gay" (I'm really getting sick of that), or quit without at least a "GG", sounds perfect for me. . .

Greetins All !!!

Thanks for the kind words EmperorParadoxnt !

We look forward to our clans getting together after we get a bit more organized. Our numbers are growing and we are having a lot of fun getting it all together. The games are getting better and everyone has been finding it a good fit between strictly competitive play and just a relaxed friendly atmosphere!

Be well and safe

Greetings PurplePaladin !!

You sound like a good fit for Aura of Honor, drop by our Forum and drop us a line in the Recruiting Section http://www.adedawson.com/aoh/forum/

And no we consider it bad form to stomp away mad if you have a setback or loose a game. We expect good sportsmanship and a mature attitude from our members. It's a game and yes we are here to win, but it HAS to be fun.

By the same token we do not overly gloat in victory.

The gay thing...not our style.  (:(

Look forward to seeing you on the board

Be well and safe

I'd love to sign up, if you would accept me, but I've been hesitant to join the actual internet online scene (been only playing with friends over LAN) due to the inevitable failings of internet play.

Quite simply, while the introduction is sufficiently brilliantly designed (I would assume the Dawz would be the graphic designer mentioned. :P), it doesn't actually contain that much information.

So... perhaps some answers to questions like:

How many members would you look for? Certainly there has to be a benchmark before overpopulation sets in. In this manner, would you be a large clan or something more along the lines of a club?

Attendance? Do members have to play frequently?

Do you guys play for fun or play for sport? If you play for sport, are all members required to participate in clanmatches?

Is there a hierarchy or bureaucracy that members have to abide by?

Do members have to meet a certain level of competence? If so, is there a test?

Clan forum membership? MSN, IRC, AIM, Teamspeak; are there any other mediums of communication that members have to use?

Clan rules beyond just mature behaviour. Evidently a body is defined by the rules, so it's impossible to have an organization to run properly with only a mission statement.

Are there time limits to games? How do members continue matches? How do members resolve matches when none back down? Is there etiquette beyond just maturity to follow?

What is your definition of honor and maturity? Does it extend to playstyles? Would spamming a broken unit be considered immature? Would playing members far below your skill level be considered unhonorable? How about with custom maps? If ever the arises an ethical question which members can't solve without dismembering each other, who determines the morals at hand?

I think if you could answer some of these questions (and perhaps a few more), you could ease the worries of potential recruits. Having large ideas is all well and good, but you still need grounded baselines so that people can grasp the overall structure and know what they're getting into.

We would love to accept you, if you signed up :D And aye, we agree it doesn't contain too much information. It was designed to entice people onto a further point of contact, that being our forums, were we could fill you in with any questions you may have and get to know you better. To that extent it does it job well :D But since you ask some very valid points that other potentials would inevitably like to know I'll do my best to answer them all.

How many members would you look for? Certainly there has to be a benchmark before overpopulation sets in. In this manner, would you be a large clan or something more along the lines of a club?

Well being a new corp with our member base under 10 members we haven't even thought about such things. I guess we will cross this bridge when we come to it.

Although in spite saying that I'm also a member of another community from a game called eve-online. The competitive clans or corporations as they call them there run into there hundreds then some cases thousands.

The "corporation" I've helped run for a number of years has had 100+ members and in the old days more so I have experience in organizing such things "if" our members ever got that big I don't foresee it being a problem. There would be way to separate the casual gamers to the competitive ones for example.

Attendance? Do members have to play frequently?
Do you guys play for fun or play for sport? If you play for sport, are all members required to participate in clan matches?

The key issue's here before anything else is a persons maturity and "Honor". We believe things like skill level can be trained/Learnt. As a rule its hard to change someone's attitude and we wont stand for name calling, bullying, gloating etc and members will be swiftly booted.

The point being so long as your respectful etc we will be willing to accept you. We wont force attendance or competitive play. At the same time I myself love this side of the game and I know other members this is the case also. I foresee us picking a competitive team or asking who would like to partake in such things. It wont be forced or expected.

We will have a degree of abtitude/skill in the competitive arena. How it will be done is yet to be decided but it will happen and we will also welcome the casual gamers. After all when your recruiting more mature players, people have families jobs etc. Real life comes first.

Is there a hierarchy or bureaucracy that members have to abide by?

Hierarchy, we have members, officers and 2 founders. Officers and Founders, call this the command team, will be in charge of the greater running of the corp and more officers will be made as our numbers grow. The running of the corp will be done on votes and opinions of all members. Everything will be discussed, but the final say will come from an agreement in the command team. Basically everything will be decided by a group of people, not one person.

As for bureaucracy, as I've been mentioning, Maturity, respect & "honor". Bad mouthing, gloating or disrespect to any of the sins community WILL no be tolerated.

Clan forum membership? MSN, IRC, AIM, Teamspeak; are there any other mediums of communication that members have to use?

We have a site auraofhonor.co.nr which host's our forums. We have been using a mixture of MSN/Yahoo messengers and we have our own Teamspeak server. Surfice to say we have good communication.

Clan rules beyond just mature behaviour. Evidently a body is defined by the rules, so it's impossible to have an organization to run properly with only a mission statement.

As you mentioned as it stands its maturity before anything else. Were in the process of setting up a greater set of rules which will be found on our forums.

I think I'll put these all into a FAQ on our forums. Great questions. I'll answer more later. I need to go now, Organising a trip to London for Easter but I hope this answers most of your questions.

Daws/Sig,

I play a lot of on-line games. That being said, playing without the 9 year old singing the whole match (XBOX 360, Call of Duty 4) or quiting when someone gains a little edge (SoaSE) really sounds attractive. I'm headed over to request membership.

There are two questions I am asking here because there might be others in the similar boat as myself. I've been playing since "pong" (Call out to Purple Pally) but I also have 7 kids, run a medium size company, and travel to 3 continents supporting both. I can beat the comp with 2 hard, but fall to 3 hard. Can I join even though I may go dark for a month or so? And can your clan really rise above having the full time experts pawn us "Noobs"?

I don't mind losing to an expert, and enjoy it if they teach me something. Too many on-line clans/games etc, the full time guys stomp you so bad you don't really get to play. Will you have somewhere to hook up with like skilled players? OK, that is 3 questions (which may be in the FAQ I haven't read yet...but if you can address these issues, I am in...If you'll take me, and it should ease others who would like to join
Reply #22 Top
Yeah we will take you. There's a number of us in similar positions. All in all I don't think it will effect us. As we will learn off the guys who are around, the hardcore member base. End of the day Real life comes first. You would be very welcome to join.
