[MOD] Sins Plus (by Uzii) v1.3a Final

[MOD] Sins Plus (by Uzii) v1.3a Final

A mod that adds, not alters.

Some of you may have noticed I haven't been around as much as usual, and it is with some regret that I won't be continuing this mod as a stand alone any more. I have many reasons, but it is mainly my short attention span which has brought this on. I have done my best to produce a top quality mod, and to help out as many people as humanly possible. I was here at the very dawn of modding this game, and I would like to think my input has helped progress slightly. I will check the forums occasionally and offer my help where I can. If you have a specific modding problem, give me a PM and I'll try and help you the best I can.

I will be working with DANMAN, who is producing a 'Super Mod' which includes Sins Plus, Bailknights Graphics, Sins Enhanced, and his own team's work. I will continue to give support for Sins Plus, and I will help out others where I can, but no further work will be done on this mod. Please check DANMAN's mod:

7 Deadly Sins
NO SCREENSHOT/LOG = NO RESPONSE
You can find how to get the Log at the bottom of this First Post. To upload a Screenshot, use Imageshack and copy the 'Direct Link To Image' address your are given, and paste it here. Take as many screenshots as you think is necessary, or of any little thing you might think will help. For those of you without common sense, this means if you aren't sure you put it in the right place, take screenshots of where you put it, with the address bar visible. If its a problem in-game, take the screenshot in-game, showing the problem.

For a Multiplayer version of Sins Plus merged with a BailKnights Graphical Mod, see Adama Repack

Ship Graveyard
Random ships will be in these areas, dead in space. They can be captured by the Colony Frigates of all the Races.

4 New Research Subjects

Improved Tunneling (Level 4)
Widespread tunneling with improved equipment increases the population on Barren and Urban planets, as well as Asteroids. (Barren, Urban, and Asteroid population max increase)
Level 1: 10%
Level 2: 20%

Crew Derelict Ship (Level 5)
Allows Colony Frigates to capture derelict vessels found in ship graveyards.

Gas Giant Colonisation (Level 6)
Allows colonisation of Gas Giants.

Improved Anti-Grav (Level 7)
Allows larger colony platforms above Gas Giants due to improved Anti-Grav technology.
(Gas Giant population max increase)
Level 1: 25%
Level 2: 50%

66 New Planetary Bonuses
If you think I am listing them, you are gravely mistaken. ;)

However, in order to enjoy the wider range of Bonuses, I recommend changing the value of the 'planetBonusDensity' on the map you plan to play on. This can be found on the 8th line down of all the .galaxy files by opening them with Notepad, or something similar. These can be found in your main Sins directory at:
C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy

or to find custom made maps at:
C:\Documents and Settings\**YOUR_USERNAME**\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy

The default value is 0.400000, this means that 40% of Planets will have a Bonus. By changing this to 70%
(0.700000) or more you should notice Bonuses becoming more frequent. Enjoy!

If anyone wants to design a planet texture for either a new planet, or an existing one, please do, and PM me a preview and a link to the file. You will be given full credit if I use it. I recommend copying one of the existing planet textures in the Textures folder, and editing that. Don't forget, the light(_cl) and dark(_da) side both need altering. Good luck.

How to Enable the Debug Logs
Go to where you Mods folder is, but don't open it. There will be other folders, most for Saves, but one for Screenshots, and another called Setting. Open that, then open the file inside named: user.SETTING (open with Notepad). Now search for the line: LogOutput FALSE, and change it to TRUE. When it crashes next, go back to the folder with Saves, Mods, Screenshots, etc, and there should be a new folder called Debug. The log will be in there.

Any chance this has been updated for entrenchment 1.03? Just bought entrenchment and can't play it with these mods

I just noticed this mod (looks amazing) and I have the same question.  :seal:

This mod by itself probably won't be, but it is included in several other mods like the mad scientists mod and the Urban expansion mod. Its kind of a framework now, as it is in so many other mods.

If anyone could help me out with getting it to work on Entrenchment that would be awesome ^.^)
If you could e-mail me at [email protected] that would be awesome ^.^) thanks heaps!

Just want to say again, amazing mod!!! Its soooo good! but yeah please someone help me ^.^)

the first step that you NEED to make is create a REFERENCE set for each of the sins/entrenchment versions you will need eg sins 1.04,1.05,1.181 and entrenchment 1.041 AND ALSO THE MOD(s) you want to update, create a mod folder with your re-worked files(btw for entrenchment you ONLY NEED the files that HAVE changes for sins you NEEDED ALL the files)

for your info the planet.entity files have 2 extra lines in the upgrade stages, a render shield line added and added 'planet bonuses' a line to limit the starbases and a line to limit the mines. the rendershield, starbase limit and mine limit lines ARE ESSENTIAL for entrenchment.

the GOOD news is that the mesh files appear to have not changed significantly for planets

It took me a while to figure out how to get the planets working but I got it implemented into my mod.  I’ve created a rebalance mod that fixes a lot of the Capital ships and makes them tougher and hit harder but at the same time makes the game from all the testing that we have done play out much better.  Cap ships should never have to beat on a frigate for 3 mins to destroy it.

We have also implemented or should I say converted the Novalith Canons and other planetary killers into Ion Canons now. Inner planetary defense platforms.  These work great for defending your systems against large fleets attacking you. They are by no means the ultimate weapon they have been balanced to give you good defense but these can be destroyed very easily.  We have also increased the amount of capships you can get, a total of 30 now.  This mod also has a lot of the Mad Scientist research tree implemented for a much broader range of fun.

We have the volumetric add-on too implemented and the new sound add-on.  I think many will like the mod but there will always be those who don’t it’s always that way and will always be that way.  But I do know this I can never play the game in its vanilla form now after playing with my mod.  Its way more fun and I guess you can call this mod the all in one mod.

Everyone I have let test this mod has told us the same thing, the mods a lot more fun this way and they could never go back to playing Sins in its original form.

For the record, I am still maintaining my own copy of the Sins Plus mod in the Stargate Races thread.  Since I use it to combine with SGRaces to create the combo SGGalaxy mod, it made sense to keep a version of Sins Plus which I update with the patches myself.  It is basically Sins Plus but with Ship Graveyards removed since they caused problems.  I don't think there are any other changes of note.

The mod is called GalaxyMod and is currently up to date for use with Entrenchment 1.041.

Um, what do you mean by don't have graphics? As in they are just invisible in space, or the HUD Icon is missing or what?

MacLEOD,

The version of Sins Plus you downloaded from me should work fine. I just checked it out and had no problems. The mod doesn't contain any files for the starbases, it uses the ones from the actuall Entrenchment game itself. As GoaFan77 has asked if you could elaborate a little more as to exactly what is missing we might be able to help you more.

The Starbases are almost invisible while building, then turn black when finished building.

HUD icon is working fine.

PS. Except for the animation inside the square hole on top and exhaust port around the starbase are working. All there is; is the animations (working) and a black starbase.

I tested this without the Mod and work fine.

Actually I've run into this problem before on a different mod. Is the StarBaseTech file in the Gameinfo folder of the mod?

I Did Not find the file (StarBaseTech.entity) in the Gameinfo folder of the MOD.

NOTE: As i played into this game one of my scouts put a probe into a PSI held planet with a starbase and the PSI srarbase was black also.

Question: Have you had this problem in playing any other mods? Because the errors you are showing above are from your installed sins game files and not the mod. As i stated above the mod doesn't contain any starbase files or textures.

Somethings you could try:

1) Set your log output and show errors to true and start a new game of entrenchment without the mod enabled. If you come up with the same errors you probably have some corrupted files and will have to unistall sins and reinstall a new copy from impulse.

2) Try playing the mod but change your in game effects settings lower from highest to high. I don't know what you have for a computer and video card but make sure your video card driver is up to date.

Hopefully something here can help determine what the problem is.

I haven’t ever encountered any problem like this before and always keep my divers up to date. I have kept the video setting (on average) about medium for over a year, mainly for game speed.

Setting are set at:

Very High             Very High             Very High

                               High                     High

                               Low                       Low

^  With on problems

I did try another game without the MOD. Same thing (Black StarBases).

As you suggested I reloaded SOSE and Entrenchment from Impulse. This seem to WORK.

What may have happened is when I got Entrenchment (played a couple of games with on problems), then attempted to install an older MOD, then my computer froze (let it sit for about 5 min. -Stayed frozen), Had to Hard Boot, this may have been the culprit.

I apologize to SinsPlus and http://ricksgalaxy.homestead.com for anything that may have been misleading, any references made were intended to inform you of what I was working with, for your professional advice.

Kudos to rjhughes67 and GoaFan77.

Again Entrenchment is a great expansion and SinsPlusEnte1.04a is awesome.

Thanks for the help.

MacKnight,

I have run into black ships and starbases as well, it should be the textures for the ship or starbase. If you go to Entrenchment and copy the textures folder, drop the copy into the mod folder (of course if your mod is for Entrenchment) and reload the game. You should be good to go.   :)

Let me know.

I'm working on a mod for 1.181 Vanilla Sins and haven't worked with Entrenchment or Diplomacy lately. Though right after Diplomacy came out i couldn't stop playing it, :)  haha, its a lot of fun, cool new ships and abilities, it really really makes the game broader and a lot much fun.  :)

Take care and let me know if the textures folder added in cures the "black" starbase issue.

-Teal

Thanks, i'll try that.

I only saw black starbase, didn't play long enough to see eveything though.

Not sure what i did to fix it for now, but i reloaded Entrench. then changed my settings to:

High      High

High      High

Low        Low

Worked but my settings are lower.

Some day i'll have Diplomacy:)

Check back later however i've got a lot of projects going right now. Modtool takes a lot of my time, me and my fussy ways.o_O
