No Australia vs World?

wtf

Ok first off this is a awsome game dont get me wrong!

But just because I live in australia dose not give you the right to not let me play online
with others around the world.

I cant get into any games online besides AU/NZ hosted games. I think this is so bloody stupid that because I am Ocianic I can only play on severs hosted by AU and NZ.

lmao... ohhhh great.... just great..

they r doing the whole hgl thing... to the guy who came up with that idea: smart move isolating a certain amount of players from the rest of the world... real smart...

you know this makes me really regret even bothering to buy this game. as long as this sort of system is used in multilayer games from stardock then i really see no point in buying anymore future games from them.

oh well one less customer wont hurt the company...

Blame Howard and his lack of attention to this country's broad band problem..........Rudd will fix it!

<3 Kevin Rudd.

I would like to voice my utter disappointment at the decision to isolate Oceanic gamers. After seeing this thread I won't be purchasing the game, unless there is a fix in a patch at a later time. As for now, I'll pass.

Hopefully they fix this, because there is no reason to limit any one from playing against any one else in the world, especially in English speaking countries.

This one gets the LAME stamp of disapproval.

Calm down, everyone. I'm sure the devs will find a solution. They usually do.
Rudd's ok, but just because we can't access other games because of low pings isn't Howard's fault - be at least fair.

As for me, once I get the game, SP will last me :P
Enjoy the game! In any way you can for the time being, of course :P

It's all Howard's fault, old man sitting pretty in retirement whilst we cope with BS inflation and interest rates! X-(

Anyway back to SINS, apparently the game will run at the speed of the slowest computer so yeah I can see why they would ban Aussies from playing in U.S games, it wouldn't really be fair to them.

Again Rudd will fix it!

You should know the government has very little control on what the RBA decides, so pipe down. If you want to blame Howard for something, blame him for things that he is actually guilty for.
But Rudd might well fix it! I agree on that point, at least.

this sorta thing will not be altered so that oceanic players can play with the rest of the world.

i really see no chance of that happening. i mean it really does benefit gamers on the other side of the world as we wont be lagging up their games. on a 4 player map on sins id say our ping would be alright but anymore than 4 players and our ping just gets too high to have a proper match. i have a 10mb line and it still happens.

as long as the majority of gamers (who are on the other side of the world) are happy then well who cares..

Yes they are independent but the Howard Government can be blamed for the high inflation we are experiencing so what CAN the RBA do but to lift interest rates!?! So they are indirectly responsible, you know that.

Why are we talking about this on the SINS forum? I was sort of joking in my original post to be honest........ ;)

hey u know the major reason behind that is to increase savings. i got no problem with it as well.. first of all im a student and i save money in the bank :D

and btw any aussies here wonna get a game going :D

Forgive me, sir! I'm no good at detecting lightheartedness on forums :P *bow* I submit to your superior intellect :P

That said, though, isn't ping merely an indicator of responsiveness, rather than computer processing? Have I got something wrong here? I thought that the multi game would slow down to the lowest FPS, not to the lowest responsiveness... is this right? If so, then there should be an update. Even if not, the lack of an update will be the potential loss of a huge market in Australia for IC; I don't think they will just ignore us.

we r too small to be properly considered my good friend xd

:P Perhaps, but look how many Australians there are on this forum. And we're only the people enthusiastic enough to be part of Stardock! Imagine all the other people who might be mildly interested in this, out of the RTS community in Australia... besides, it's uncharacteristic of companies like IC to ignore customer complaints...

Let's wait and see what happens... if they don't do anything (which I doubt), then you are, obviously, right. :P

WTF this is hell stupid i was just coming on here to buy when i saw it in the recent theads thingo and had a look. I'm not buying it anymore.

First of all John Howard had nothing to do with the internet speed. Kevin Rudd isnt going to fix this. Polotitions are full of shit and if he did he would have to use the money that would be going toward you're pensions when your older which we wont have if he does.

Second of all go to iinet they suply Adsl 2+ almost anywhere in austrlia & with the correct modem can get download speed of 18 mb/s and up speeds of 8 mb/s and this usaly cheeper then then slower broadband 1 suplied by optus or telstra.

Third this is probebly just coz us ausie are just to good and they wanted to make an even playing field for the rest of the world. lol jk (DONT QUOTE THIS I WAS JOKING)

The only reason i was going to buy this game rather then just download it off a torrent was for the online play, and to help you guys keep making awsome games. So unless this is changed soon i think the torrent wins.

BUT as soon as it is im buying my copy!!! :)

P.S. don't report this for warez i awlays buy a product if i like it (i just like to have try the full version becouse the demos always suck)

Have heart; it'll almost certainly change (...in my opinion :P )!

Stardock & IC have both been very supportive in the past but . . .

They have advertised and sold me a game with a strong multiplayer component, and until right now I have had no idea that I could not connect to games around the world. If I'd known this I would not have purchased the product.

They have not publicised this anywhere (that I saw) and I'm going to nicely suggest that the devs fix it, refund the oceanic players for selling us an incomplete product, or risk some litigious person taking action further.

In the meantime Oceanic gamers will be giving this game an accurate review on gaming web-sites (e.g. gamespot.au). Can't see EB Games Australia being too thrilled to sell it when they'll get returns from people who find out the multiplayer doesn't work outside of Oz!

hey screw eb. anyways who wants to run an aussie game?

I couldn't agree more. I have absolute confidence that IC will fix the "multiplayer problem" just as soon as they can get around to it.

I have to say that even if Sins had no multiplayer support at all I would still think it worth buying.

I stopped buying PC games once most companies started becoming so aggressive with their copy protection - just look at Bioshock and Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts. I torrented both titles two days after release and had no problems. My friends who actually bought them complained for weeks over how two great games had been screwed up with the draconian attempt at security.

When I paid my $55.00 AU I didn't buy a copy of Sins; I could get that for free. My $55.00 was a salute to a trailblazing company that has the intelligence to see that copy protection of any type does nothing to stop pirates. Instead of waving a legal stick IC offered us a tasty carrot in the form of ongoing support and development of Sins. All you have to do is browse these forums and absorb their tone, or and look at the level of support Gal Civs II still enjoys. When I read something on the net regarding how well the company is doing I will know that I played a small part in that.

*gets teary eyed*

Ok I didn't know this was such an emotional subject for me... Perhaps I need to get a girlfriend or something.

1) Devs I salute you.

2) I have absolute confidence that they will fix the multiplayer problem.

3) High five for making the Stardock downloader able to archive a game for xfer to another computer. I'm staying with my mum atm so I had to get my sister to dload sins on my home connection and bring it to me here.

Guys I think you're all over reacting a little.
Ok it looks like a pants position to be in at the moment, but wait for Canada to wake up and see if its an oversight, or a settings problem at the hosts end, or whatever.
