What can I expect from my 8800GTX in Sins?

What can I expect from my 8800GTX in Sins?

What can I expect from my 8800GTX in Sins? If I ran the game at 1680x1050 with all settings maxed and at 4xAA, what kind of FPS could I expect? I know this game is optimized to run well on all hardware, so can I expect close to a constant 60 :D? (I'm sure CPU is also a big factor, and I have an Intel Core 2 duo E6400 oc'd to 3 GHz)

okay, fine, i'll end it.

I have an 8800 gt. Sins doesn't have graphics settings high enough to tax it (maybe that'll change in final).

You'd be surprised...

Surprised by the sheer awesomeness in the final? That'd be awesome! Oh, I forgot to mention that I don't have one of those magic monitors, just a nice high-end 19 incher, so that might explain things. But I cranked all settings, held my right mouse button, and had a near-epileptic fit. The framerate didn't drop. Nice work keeping the code efficient. I hope you can tax it, though, it needs the exercise, and i'm not springing for a monitor more expensive than my computer ;).

I'll take that challenge and add a Vasari fleet to boot. This is of course once I rebuild my system since it died on me last night. I cant begin to express my rage right now.

If you do that, I call dibs on the (non-broken) parts! (power supply + ultra would be nice, but so would motherboard + processor... oh, and memory since you said it was DDR3...) :D

At this point I'm starting to think the memory is what is fried. This is so because the BIOS works but when it tries to go into windows I get a super special BSoD with lots of hex values on it. I cant even reinstall Windows it loads the files then the special screen comes as soon as the load process is done. Why they dont make stuff that can be OC 40%+ and last is beyond me. I think there is a conspiracy within the industry. :NOTSURE:

Look up Memtest86, you can use that to test the RAM.

Next time, try to remember this simple adage: You can cook on it or game with it. Pick one.

I spent well in excess of $15k (and that does not interest payments of the credit card) on my workstation. Thus I fully expect to be able to do anything I can think of with it for that much money, short of sex - that would be in the $25k range methinks. :)

@kryo - I tired and loaded it to a flash drive but it wont boot.

I'm sparing you the not-so-witty-or-original comment about your obese/transvestite/supercentarian computer because it kicked the bucket.

what I will ask is: where the HELL did you get 15k to spend on a computer?

I own a very small consulting company and I work seven days a week practically, from 9:00AM till after midnight on most days. So I have no life outside of work and as a result no friends (language is also a big contributing factor as well) or energy to do anything. I call my office my prison since I'm in it nearly every waking minute of each day. Thus I figure I deserve the best cellmate I can find to occupy me in between meetings with clients.

BTW: I posted a pict of it in one of these threads before.

I hope it had a car attached to it. ;)

Dont need one Tokyo and it is expensive. The parking alone is about $500 a month for most outdoor places.

However that was how I justified the expense. It is my work "car" for all intents and purposes.

As long as it has a cup holder I guess... :)

Are you kidding me!?!?! How do we have to pay more for parking over here (New York City)! I understand that we're on an island and there are yuppies who'll gladly rent a studio that size for well over a grand, but still! It isn't fair! Oh, and smooth maneuver calling it your 'car'.

lol, my thread managed to stay on topic for maybe 5 posts

Actually, 5 posts is pretty good for these forums! You should be proud

Yea, the last thread I started went off topic starting with reply #1 - Thanks Schod! :P

Please keep in mind that is a one year (prepaid) contract price for near street parking outside. If one wants a garage environment the price easily doubles and if one wants said space in the downtown area it jumps by nearly four times. Additionally keep in mind Tokyo is a very big city. That quote is for a place near my office which is technically in Kawasaki since I'm across the river(think Lincoln tunnel action). Street meter parking is about $4.00 an hour average.

damn, and I thought Vancouver was expensive. Luckily, I'm from walking distance to work, so I just keep mine at a family member's house out in the suburbs, so it only costs an arm and a leg for my shoebox, in the quarter of a million dollars range.

@kryo - I tired and loaded it to a flash drive but it wont boot.

Probably better to make a bootable CD with it, or just look up the Ultimate Boot CD image and use that (has memtest and tons of other tools).

The system stopped loading even the bois a few hours ago. So it was DOA.

I have spent the past four hours talking it all apart and rebuilding it with a new motherboard (The extra Striker Extreme I was planning on giving away in a future clan event). I hope that solves the problem. I would really be pissed if the RAM, CPU or PSU were causes as well beyond what I am now. Thanks for the advice nonetheless.

Ah, well, UBCD is incredibly handy to have around anyway, so check that out so you have it next time :)

Sadly the new mobo does not work either. I'll be damn i just cant figure it out. I have replaced the mobo five times in the past year, the PSU three times, the DVDR twice, and HDD array twice. I have even had the power company come in and check the lines. Yet everyone tells me everything is as it should be but my damn workstation wont work right and if it does it is only at half of what it should. I'm so ready to go postal on someone...
