cursorfx beta3

i was just notified by sdc that an update was available and let it install and let the system reboot. and as mentioned already i noticed my cursor going under everything. i found that resetting the cursor to windows default and then reseting to the cursor i want solved the problem. you will probably also have to redo your effects settings.

Are you saying that a problem you were experiencing was that the cursor's z-ordering ended up putting it behind other windows?

This is actually a problem with the layered windows api that many applications use. For example, you can reproduce this problem between video players and winamp.

This issue does not reproduce itself 100% of the time, which may be the leading reason why Microsoft has not yet made a fix for it. Intermittent issues are the most difficult to track down and resolve.

all im saying is this only started acuring after the update. my cursor would go under everything including the icons in the taskbar and also the start button. i went back to the windows default cursors and then tried regular cursor again and the problem went away. i dont know the whys and wherefors. in case its of any importance, i have window vista home premium.

Same happened to me. I applied Windows default cursor and then the theme cursor.

The one thing that doesn't work is the Apply button. When I changed the size and clicked Apply nothing happens. I have set what I want and then goto My Cursors and double click on the cursor I was adjusting. Not just this cpu but my laptop also. Both Vista.

i have to correct myself. the cursor going under thing seems to happen after every reboot. and the cursor wasnt going under icons. it was going under the taskbar.

Mine was going under my ObjectDock and drop down menus and my taskbar.

I just rebooted and it's still doing it.

I also have this problem. I am not sure, but in my case it didn't start happening until I was also using ObjectDock. Changing the OD behaviour settings (hide off screen etc) also seems to cure this problem for a short time but once I accessed a context menu I was back to being underneath them with the CursorFX pointer.

I am having the same problems as mentioned above. Started when I purchased Cursor FX Plus. I don't know how to fix the problem. Like mentioned above...cursor goes behind items I want to click on and the apply button doesn't work. I have to set size or color changes & then reboot to apply the changes. OS is Vista Home Premium.

This started for me with the last update. 1.94[b].024

Yea, I have to reboot with every change of settings. Reboot is not a permanent fix. Neither is uninstall and install!

I have the same issue but it didn't start until Beta 3.

this happened to me, right after the recent up. i've never had this happen ever before with cursorxp or cursorfx.

I'm going to have to add my voice to the chorus. I'm experiencing the same problem and it started with the update to Beta 3 on a Windows XP system. Reboots don't fix the issue . What does "fix" it for at least a while is going into the CursorFX control panel and changing cursors. The problem eventually resurfaces though.

I forgot to report, I am running Vista Ultimate.

Well lets add one more user to the list.

I'm running XP Home SP2 and with current updates. I have Object Desktop and run Object Dock Plus with a zoomer and tabbed dock. I downloaded the latest CursorFX update. The problem only seems to happen for me on drop down and right click menues.

Hope this information with the others helps in finding the problem.

more to add to the above problems. effects settings do not hold between reboots. another oddity. when using the candyman theme cursor. when in its wait state it jumps back and forth about an inch. inj the control panel after selecting it the current theme display shows the wait state of it continually scrolling right to left. thats the best way i can explain it.

Same here, another oddity is that I don't get the Vista cursor back. It's blank.

i went ahead and tested on another PC, same problem with this new update.

Amen!!! It's a major problem, rendering the app somewhat useless for all intent and purpose!!!

but milksama stated above that it's an issue with windows, not cursor fx
Reply #25 Top
Whatever...then it would seem to me that the app is not Vista ready which is why I bought it! Plus why did the problem start with beta 3 release!
